I use a countdown timer but not a crazy long one. Mine is 2:00 minutes which I think is long enough. I have thought about editing it out after but never did. You bring up a good point though about cutting it out later. Might try that.
Wonder though since you’d cut it out for the replay if there’s a case to be made about not adding live comments visually to the stream. Talk to your live viewers but don’t add those in the video for the same reason you might edit out the timer. Thoughts?
+Kevin Kolbe great point bro, I did that on my latest stream to not add comments from viewers. Or maybe just do q&a at the end? What are you doing since?
@@robertbalasabas I've decided to throw most "rules" out the window and treat the live as a pure live - in the moment, whoever shows up let's talk, live stream.
I have a 10-second countdown that opens to me. No other open. Putting comments on screen. Just feels right.
I would do a count up timer just to be different

As someone who doesn't get to always watch a live stream the counter is annoying. Most of the time the creators are not in the chat during them. I ok with a short count down but if it is more than 25 seconds I know I can be late to the live streams. I have seen up to 7 minutes that is just way to long.
oh yah! 7 minute countdown is just wayyyyy too long!
