212-1260R Rev Limiting Coil Issue Identified
We’ve identified the cause of inconsistent RPM limits for the 212-1260R rev limiting coil, commonly used in the Ducar 212 stock classes. Some engines have been revving beyond 5200-5300 RPM, despite the coil’s limit. With help from an experience engine builder in the karting industry, it was revealed that the issue stems from using the AR3910X spark plug, a popular choice in kart racing.
Solution: Switch to a traditional spark plug like the stock Ducar OEM or the AR3910, both of which we’ve tested successfully with the rev limiting coil.
While the spark plug is a non-tech item in Ducar 212 rules, using the AR3910X may result in a post-race RPM disqualification.
I just bought a Ducar 212 and the 5250 coil through OMB. I chose this over the Ghost.

I did a little more to it and of course the 224 is a stroker but I'm sold on it.

@@dynocams1006 I hit the limiter once on purpose to see if it worked since then and it worked fine, sounds like cdi on a dirt bike kinda.
Wait , are u limiting the rev with that coil? I thought that u wanted to have a high rev limit like around 10k rpm. Like for example the ghost engine has a rev limiting coil that we change out to one that’s not limited. It governs the rpms. We change it out to a reg predator coil or after market.
Also , is it necessary to use a pulse pump on that build ? I see guys do that with built engines . My question to u is , when would u neeed one ? Exception being the gas tank sits low. My engine is pretty built but dont run a pulse pump. Would it be better to? Would it give me better performance or is it just to get the carb to run right ?

I don't understand how this can happen if the throttle (gov) spring is repositioned to the hole at the end of the governor arm and the throttle screw is backed out far enough. The governor should not be able to max govern under 5K RPM. Are they using lighter tension springs than they used to?
It may be that the governor behavior is different for the go kart application? (gearing and load)
I run all my minibike engines with the spring positioned at the end of the governor arm. I have not experienced any governor behavior under full throttle during my "top out" runs. My strongest engine tops out at 5600 RPM according to the max RPM recall on my tach. At one point I had a stock 196 governed to right at 5K and I could run the screw in far enough to max govern 4500 RPM proving adjustability is still there.
I'm a regular in a minibike forum and we repeatedly recommend the Ducar 212 and 224 to guys who are new to all this. I don't have one but would get one of them if I needed another engine.
I just put together a 224 and I love it.
I have this coil, it works perfect and fits a 224 in case anyone on your forum might wonder.
My flywheel is a cast aluminum 212r flywheel.(from one of the big shops of course not a****z or e**y, some things i don't trust to just anyone)
