When I read your first book I was surprised that you were from Hornchurch. I always thought you were an Eastender. Good luck Bill, we've met a couple of times over the years at West Ham but as you've met thousands through the years I would never expect you to remember! You are as well loved as Trevor Brooking!
Just seen this Bill and wish you all the best with it mate, have looked up to you since that boxing day '73 in the top of the Shed - when I was so small you helped me onto a stanchion so I could see our beloved win the day 4-2 (also the birth of that 'jingle bells, jingle bells..' song that day I believe). Russia aside (when I know you werent too impressed with our antics!), you've always been a proper gent who looked out for every last one of us, and for that I'm both thankful & honoured, and am proud to be able to call myself a fellow veteran of the best West Ham days ever, and very proud to be able to call you a friend. Keep on keeping on mate.

I used to follow West Ham in the early to mid 70s and Bill was a legend then, but in those days there was another name tagged to his name very often and that was Johnny Hampton, when you heard the words I've just seen Hampton, Gardner and the mile end mob you knew you were gonna be ok, I have never heard any ex hooligan mention the name Johnny Hampton and I'm starting to wonder now did I imagine him, is there anyone out there can help me ?
hello mate, I remember the name Johnny Hampton back in the early 70s, I don't think I ever met him though, along with Bill Gardner, Stevie Woods there was a bloke called Williams who was a main face in the mile end mob. Funny how these names stick in your mind after so many years.
I remember john Hampton met him up the north bank in the early 70s he was with Steve Morgan and felix that's a long time ago
@@colinquain4261 cheers me old mate, at our age you do wonder if the old grey matter is failing a bit, Steve Morgan and Felix are also genuine names I remember from back in the old days, it does make you wonder just how valid a lot of these "celebrity" ex hooligan authors really are sometimes when the guys you mentioned above aren't referenced at all by any of them, anyway, good on ya, thanks for the reply.
People need to understand you take on certain people you take on a life changing possibility. And it could be yours.

I sat down with Bill on 3 different occasions & had lengthy conversations with him, for hours, about his life. This really is a remarkable story told by a remarkable man.

I met you a few times Bill. First time being Behind the southbank, Then on the away bus when there were just a hand full of us going to places like Man city. Pouring down with rain and not a blade of grass on the pitch. But one of the vivid memories was of you arranging a match against my church side from Stanford le Hope. We borrowed the church van which was converted from a old ambulance and needless to say we went home in a ambulance. Good Luck with the Book... best regards.......A

Yesturday the 4th june was one year since my great mate of over 45 years died, i miss him every day,we used to talk all the time on life and all football matters.RIP MATE
today 21st july i will walk around westhams pitch with my friend chas and his son to raise funds for st francis hospice near romford

in my book it says that my mate duncon was a westham fan this was a missprint ,he was a lifelong chelsea fan.The coment for him was talking about dennis lepine

Alright Bill thanks for the TH-cam vids I've just ordered your book, YNWA lad . Rem ember West ham running down the side street towards the kop . Think it was 78 night game. I think it was a lovely night all the way to lime street . I was about 15 then. After tius went past us . I thought why are they coming down this side street where the kop was as we'd never seen away lads around this side of our ground. I remember a massive firm from Liverpool running through the side street as if they were taking shortcuts to catch up to yous I think it was going off all the way to lime st with no plod about always liked West ham always been footballing club. YNWA
