I went to this church a few years back and sat in the pews and cried like a baby just remembering my grandmother. I stood and told them how I found them and the Pastor said something to the effect of young people and the internet...lol I made it and will be back!
I love the ancient tonal sound; it exists across the continents..and I am so happy that you have made an effort to record and preserve it in America God bless! VPenn Moll
I am from upstate SC (Greenville) and althought I grew up with the "old time music" I was not really exposed to this type of "hymn choir singing" Until I moved to Charlotte NC. This music is very popular in this area as well as the York, and Chester areas in SC.
I stumbled across this video searching for the church address. Langrum Branch is my home church. I moved to WSNC at a young age and they dont sing hymns like this. Its truly a blessing to be able to watch this and feel like Im at "home." Such a blessing!
Aint nothing like a Southern metered hymn! It had me clappin and stompin. Now that's singing!
