JUNGLE HIKING 🌿 TIOMAN ISLAND, MALAYSIA

- My first real day on Tioman Island. After a workout on the beach with my new pal Merel I headed down to the dive shop to (apprehensively) book my Open Water diving course. After this I headed down a couple of villages in order to start a hike through the dense forest of the island to get to a beach on the other side. After a great walk through the jungle seeing monkeys and various other creatures (as well as my stomach deciding it was an appropriate time to give me some trouble) I ended up at Juara, where I was aiming for. It was quiet due to the fact the weather wasn’t great, it was the end of the season, and those who were on the island mostly dive in the days. This meant I could have the entire beach to myself. Unfortunately it began to rain and I couldn’t find other means of getting back to where I was staying so I was forced to walk. Great day!

Tioman , number one, the best . Juara jungle trek is a stunner. we just loved Tioman island. we will return for sure.

Loving it mate, portability is perfect with all of my travels and I just have it on my belt all day which means I get a lot of shots that require just getting it out and on quickly that I just wouldn't be able to do with my DSLR. So glad you approve man, means a lot bro!

I've been alright with mosquitoes - I hate wearing deet so I tend to just hope for the best but I've only been bitten a few times anyway. On Tioman the sandflies were way worse!

this island is the best view, interesting to scuba activity... or u can go to pulau perhentian kuala terengganu... it's like maldives malaysia
Juara is where the turtles go to lay eggs so resort developments aren't allowed on that side of the island. There's also a turtle sanctuary in kampung juara. :)

Hey, I’m planning on going to Tioman Island this Winter. How much did the ferry cost? And do you think it would be possible to stay in a tent somewhere in the jungle? Or are there some cheap hostels? It definitely looks awesome!

Hey Finn! Sorry but I can't remember how much the ferry cost! You probably could stay in the jungle but I think it's better just to stay in one of the rooms they have there. I think I paid around £8/night but I was on my own and that was for a room with two beds! So try and find someone you can share with! The trek is definitely worth it! Let me know if you end up visiting!
Ferry from Mersing is 35 RM one way plus same account now for the "marine park tax". rooms about 40 RM if you stay longer they give discount. don't go in the rainy season (okt until feb) not because of the rain, but they close everything, it would be hard to get food even

Crazy bro! Still here at the moment but heading back into Indonesia tomorrow! From there I have a few more weeks (dunno what I'll be doing in them - hopefully seeing orangutans and climbing volcanoes!) and then I'll be heading back home to work through December and see family for Christmas. Fingers crossed by February I'll have saved up enough to head out to somewhere again!

I didn't trek to the beach but I went to Adam's Waterfall ,you can sit in there and the fish will come up and nibble the dead skin from your feet.

From Singapore I visited Melaka, KL, Cameron Highlands and George Town and now I'm staying in Bukit Lawang in Sumatra! Malaysia treated me so well - locals are so friendly and the fooood 😍 can't wait to visit again already!
