Great video, you're a good teacher. Nice job letting us know grill temperature, cooking times, and smoke flavor of the finished burgers. Best pellet grill burger video on this site. This recipe has worked great for me. Thank you.
Premium cooking pellets are the best pellets for flavor and smoke ,I make burgers all the time I love it and I love what you guys do you guys are the reason I purchased a pellet smoker thank you for all your videos and you're awesome too
Thanks man, I really appreciate that! My typically days are Friday’s at 4pm (CST), of course there’s some circumstances where I may post on another day. Thanks again for watching brother!
@@AshKickinBBQ -Thank you!!! Yeah, thinking of smoking but a quick 1 minute sear but wasn't sure if that step is needed. When I smoke tri-tip it adds a lot to give it a quick reverse sear after smoking. Thank you again!
I tried this recipe with my new Pit Boss 1150 this evening. Would like some input on what I may have done wrong. I cooked my hamburgers (80/20) at the same temp and cooked them for an hour. Even after an hour my burgers had only reached around 135 degrees. I cooked them on the higher rack like you did in the video. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the video. Just bought my first Pit Boss 850 Pro. Can you place burgers on the bottom rack and does it make a difference? Is there a temperature difference between top and bottom racks?
That would depend on your cooker as to temp differences. Heat rises though, so there’s that. You can do them on the bottom grates. You’re cooking to an internal temperature regardless, so doesn’t matter much. Congrats on the purchase!
Looks good! I just got my pit boss combo. I'm gathering tips and recipes. I'm definitely going to try this one. At 6:39 your dog was looking for a taste!
Man, these burgers are so good! Thanks for watching, and congrats on your purchase! Haha, she's always making a brief appearance in almost every video!
How are you getting that much smoke? Do the cookin pellets make a difference? I'm using bear mountain in an Austin xl but looks like you're getting more consistent smoke than me. What's the secret?
Not sure man, use a smoke tube too if you’re not getting the smoke you want. I’ve had zero issues with mine using both brands of pellets. The Cookin pellets are no joke tho
@@AshKickinBBQ I’ve sent in a email to pitboss, my Laredo 1000 took an hour to light and get to 225! Only my third cook and vacuum and dump the ash pot before every cook!
@@alexanders7730When you’re first starting them up, leave the lid open. Once the first plume of smoke finishes, then close the lid to heat up. If you try starting it with the lid closed, the initial smoke can choke itself out and cause issues.
I’ll never understand ytpipo not mixing seasoning into the burgers… the one time you can guarantee seasoning all throughout the meat and you don’t. But smoking them is the way. Nice cook.
The only issue with mixing seasoning into the meat like that is if you handle the ground meat too much, it drastically effects the texture. If this was a meatloaf, I’d season the meat for sure. Burgers I try to avoid it at all costs if I can. Thanks!
From someone who just bought a pitboss today....Thank you for all the hard work.
Thanks for the kind words!
I bought this week and going to assemble tonight so we will see how it goes.
Man they look delicious...I'm a big fan of your videos...keep them coming...Thank You

Your token little bit of veg cracked me up when you put the lettuce on😂 Smoked burgers look so delicious👍
Lol, I had to film that part a few times because I cracked myself up as well, haha. Thanks for watching Bobbi, I appreciate it!
Question, it seems like it is missing a sear for color and texture. Does it not need to be reversed seared?
You sure can sear them after if you want, but that’s not the point of a smoked burger.
@@AshKickinBBQ -Thank you!!! Yeah, thinking of smoking but a quick 1 minute sear but wasn't sure if that step is needed. When I smoke tri-tip it adds a lot to give it a quick reverse sear after smoking. Thank you again!

There could be multiple factors...bigger burgers...different temps at different levels, etc.
Yeah those variables are why we smoke to temperature, not time.
How big were the patties would you say?
Prolly 1/4 pound or just under
Nice burgers, keep up the content
Thank you, I definitely will! I appreciate the support!
Hey Darren just wanted to let you know burgers were amazing did it a couple weeks ago and we're doing it again thank you for the great video
Hey Jeremy! Man, that's awesome! I'm so glad to hear y'all enjoy the burgers! They some of my favorites as well!
Looks sweet nice job 👍
Thank you brother!
So when doing his you never flip the burger??
Correct. You’re smoking them, not grilling them.
You get that kind of smoke without a smoke tube?! I can only see my smoke during the startup
Yes lol. You don’t need to see smoke to taste it.

Do you use your smoker on direct heat or indirect heat usually?
I’m not sure what you mean by this?
Burgers look good. Salt and pepper that tomato to elevate the flavor even more ;-)
Always my friend, just didnt film it ;)
So you can use any brand pellets with the pitboss grill?
Of course!
I'll try this tonight, you don't flip them at all?
No
Do u need to flip them
No

Haha, that’s everyone who uses it man!
I'm not alone! Haha
Def gonna try this out bro.

When I received my free SPG from Ricer, the first thing I did was take a wiff and the sneezes were instant!!! Great stuff though! LOL
Haha, the sneeze factory dust! Man, it's sooooo good though! Thanks for watching, Paul!
what was the total time they were on the grill?
I stated it in the video ;)

How long does your smoker take to warm up and then get to 250?
Not long at all, 10-15 minutes tops

Would you advise not to place the patties on the main grill?
Nah, it doesn’t matter, just be sure you know where your hot spots are!
You don’t flip your burgers?
Not when I’m cooking no flip burgers….
@@AshKickinBBQ great! Mine are cooking as we speak. I’ve got the grill on 250 with hickory pellets.

The family loved them! Wow! What a taste! Thanks for this video!
Hey Darren, just wondering, how long do you leave your buns on your pitboss for toasting? I have a Lockhart.
Hey Paul, I just leave them on long enough for them to brown. It doesn’t take too terribly long
Yummy i
Thank you 😋

It turns ground beef into a sausage patty. It's similar to kneeding bread dough, the more you kneed it the tighter it will get
Mixing in dries out the meat no?

Are you the ash kickin from Lafayette Ga???
No I am not.
Didn’t even use the sear slot?!?
SMOKED BURGERS, not reverse seared burgers. Smoked burgers are not seared. Any other questions?
Your pooch looked so mornful smelling that burger and didn't get a bite. That would have made your video perfect.
