  • I recently did a couple of upgrades to my Norco Fluid Hardtail. One major was upgrading the stock fork (120 mm) to Marzocchi Bomber Z2 (140 mm).After the upgrade, I took the bike for a spin at Hornsby MTB trails, and I absolutely had a blast! Happy with the upgrades!
    List of upgrades:
    Fork: Marzocchi Bomber Z2 140 mm
    Brakes: Shimano Deore 4 Piston Brakes
    Wheels & Hubs: Front - Ethirteen w/ Shimano SLX hub. Rear - DTSwiss EX511 w/ DTSwiss 350 hub.
    Tyres: Maxxis Minion DHF (Front and Rear)
    Hornsby MTB Trails, a.k.a. Old Man's Valley, is a popular single-track trail in Hornsby Shire Council. The Hornsby MTB trail is perfect for someone trying to hone their mountain biking skills as this trail features some high berms, log rides, rollers and bridges on the descents, and tight switchbacks that are not only fun but will also test and develop your technical riding skills. The trail also has a small pump/jump track where you can practice and learn jumping skills - perfect for my recently upgraded Norco Fluid Hardtail.

    Nice video. I just picked up an ht2 last weekend after staring at it for a while. Ive taken it out twice (still totally stock), and I'm happy with it.
    Ive tried some are forks and I do notice the difference between the stock spring fork and an air fork. It will be my 1st major upgrade.

      It’s such a beautiful bike, yes upgrading the fork will make the world of difference. Thanks :)

      Is there a big difference between the 120mm and 140mm forks? I feel like it wouldnt be that big@@WandersInc

      @@MacBikesMTB I’ve noticed a good difference - specifically when descending and on rocky sections, bike handles them very well.

    First of all, excellent vid. Is this the HT 2 or HT 1? I just got an HT 2 and was looking at the Bomber Z2 as well so this is perfect.

    • @WandersInc
      @WandersInc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you :) Its a HT 2. Fork upgrade will make the bike feel/run so much better & smoother. And I think you can’t go wrong with a Bomber Z2.

    • @davidh7414
      @davidh7414 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe the HT2 has a very heavy (3kg) coil fork. The Z2 will be a huge change.

    Thanks for the video bro, Norco told me if I put a 140mm fork on mine it will negatively impact the bike characteristics and frame integrity. Voiding the warranty.
    I know it’s their job to say that but it seems like people really like the increased travel on the fluid ht

    • @WandersInc
      @WandersInc  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Jaysuth - upgrading fork to 140 or even 130 will definitely void the warranty, but in my personal experience I didn’t notice any negative impact on the bike’s characteristics, rather it was way more capable - both ascending and descending, and even more playful.
      The only drawback, again, is the void of warranty.

    Hey, I noticed the lack of cable rattle in this video, what did you do to quiet the bike down?

    • @WandersInc
      @WandersInc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Nesh, I installed a split braided cable to quieten the rattle. I was recommended by one of my mates and it actually worked 😊

    Yeh I "upgraded" to a Z2 too. One winter wrote it off. The bushings are cast into the forklegs so probably ferrous and certainly not replaceable. The forks come without absorption rings just below the seals, although these an be retro bought [and should be]
    Result? The top of the bushings rusted and particles scratched the stanchions. Worst money I ever spent on a Mountainbike.

    • @WandersInc
      @WandersInc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s sad man. I’ve only had the z2 for some months, so far it’s running mint - will see how it goes!

    • @davidh7414
      @davidh7414 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, I have heard other stories about the Z2 recently. Bushing issues seem to be a concern. Its hard to recommend the Z2 as a result after hearing this.

  • @jaeyre

    Hey I also have the fluid HT and want to upgrade the fork, how’d you decide on the Z2 and what travel do you have?

    • @WandersInc
      @WandersInc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have a 140 on the Z2. Bomber Z2 pretty much performs like a fox 34 but at reasonable price.

    • @davidh7414
      @davidh7414 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've got a 130mm Fox34 on my Fluid HT, which is near identical to the Z2 except for damper. Fluid HT support documentation indicates its is designed to take a fork between 120-140mm

      @@alexandersheppard1489 I sent a reply earlier but it had the link in it which youtube may have blocked. anyway go to the fluid HT1 page on the norco website, at the bottom left find "Specs" and a link called "Service Parts Reference". Click on that link to access the support pdf.
      Once you have that pdf open, you can see that "Max Fork Length, Offset" is 549,51 . The Fox34 and Z2 are 547.1mm axle-to-crown for a 140mm fork.
