I met the Corries after a concert in Inverness years ago.Ronnie came across as a bit pernickety but Roy was a lovely gentleman.Whatever their differences were,there has not been another such phenomenon in Scotland as far as wit,humour and perfectly-timed music are concerned,for many years. How lucky were we who were there when it was happening! Get in there you Youngies! It's all been left for YOU!
To Stripey Dusty 45--Me too! I just found these gorgeous guys about 6 months ago in the process of researching Burns' songs, and now I drive all my associates NUTS making them listen too! Lol!
I emailed their website to see if this was available on DVD or CD, but it was never put on one due to being "politically incorrect": I do enjoy it on youtube to cheer me up as I do my bookwork. Thanks Iain

IIRC ..this is around 1974 in the Music Hall in Aberdeen. I loved the Corries then, and still do. I was a real "SNP" chap in those days....now I have no time for them. Pity they got "hi-jacked" by the left in the late 70s/early 80s.
@jockhamish I am an American fellow who stumbled upon the the Corries by accident. In two days I completely memorized the words to Loch Lomond. I think I will learn this song next!
Simply put... its a traditional martial air. Americans are/were just as likely to play the Marseilles (or even Prussian's Gloria) as well as just American favorites as "The Washington Post March" or the "Marine Corps Hymn"

In the World Cup, rugby, other sporting events, we sing Flower of Scotland, but in the Commonwealth Games they play Scotland the Brave. The Scottish Parliament have already had this debate. Scotland is a seperate State that is joined in Union with the Kingdom of England, the Principality of Wales, and obviously Northern Ireland... we exists in a mutually beneficial nation among nations.
Does any one know if this song is on MP3 or CD somewhere??!! It's nog on the comedy cd of the Corries, and I just can't find it anywhere on the internet :(
