  • Individual Hymns- Sheet Music is now available on my website!
    natalieraynesm...
Hymns are written at an intermediate level, designed to be playable, yet full-sounding and energetic! The music is appropriate for congregational accompaniment, offertories, preludes, postludes, and other settings.
Check out my two hymn-playing courses, "Foundations in Hymn-Playing," which is an 11-lesson video course. You'll want to follow along with a hymnal of your choice, as I teach you the basics for filling out your own hymn-playing.
"Basic Congregational Accompaniments" is a 20-lesson video course, including 20 hymns of sheet music of congregational accompaniment for 2-3 verses of each hymn.
We go live every Sunday night at 8:30 PM EST on Facebook and play hymn requests from viewers!

You are inspiring me. Ive taken piano lessons for years and have not made great progress. my last teacher passed away with pancreatic cancer. We were doing great things together with piano duets. I sure miss her. I got started with a job that took me away for a while-- I cut that down to part time. It was tooo much. I live in a small town looking for another piano teacher. The thing is my grandmother could play anything by ear after hearing something one time. My cousins and I would all gather around and sing along. I would sure like to bring that back. Oh Shine Jesus Shine! The piano teacher that used to play in my church put a waltz type of rhythm to it It made you want to get out of the pews and dance! She is now in the nursing home with dementia

I have been watching a lot of your videos the past couple of weeks while I am doing crafts and computer things. I so enjoy your playing and am amazed at your talent, and how many songs you have memorized, not only the melody, but what key to play it in. You have a delightful attitude as well. God Bless.

Skill like this has come about with persistent practice and tutor critique, and lots of time in church.
Using your talent to give the world the message of Jesus.
If someone sang some of the hymns that would be fantastic !
Btw your American accent is good.
God reward this lady for sharing her talent with others, in such a happy way.

Dear Natalie and Josh, thank you for sharing your gifts week after week. Finding your TH-cam channel has been a blessing to me and to the friends I shared it with. There's something special about hymns and until now, I hadn't realized how much I missed them and how much they minister to the heart. Worship during "stay-at-home" has been extra-special listening to the hymns.

The tune to 'Praise my Soul' although new to you is the most commonly sung in the UK to that hymn. Good to hear you play other folks requests because I am learning tunes not known to me. A favourite Gospel song of mine is 'Since Jesus Came to Our House.' This I have in a collection of four smaller music books all styled Country and Western. I am often singing along with you and it is such a blessing as we are still in lock-down due to the virus. Rev Bryan East

YES I was so happy to hear this one. Growing up in the Military chapels I was exposed to hymns from many different denominations even though my family's background was Southern Baptist. But this one, I had never heard of until TH-cam. I fell in love with this one while watching various youtube videos of British choirs singing it - especially when they sing a descant on the last verse. This American loves to listen to British choirs sing hymns - cathedrals, big pipe organs, the whole bit. I did a bit of research on this one - words by Henry Lyte - an Aglican hymnodist that experienced an evangelical conversion. He also penned "Abide with Me". Natalie - what hymnal was that you played this from? BTW - here is a great rendition of this hymn: th-cam.com/video/T07DnPyFURQ/w-d-xo.html

I really enjoyed Shine, Jesus, Shine, a favourite of mine, I have led it in our church many times over the years. It is not, however, from the '70s. It was written by Graham Kendrick, from England, and released in 1990. I like many of his songs, a different flavour than North American worship music, I find.

Oh man, sorry to keep blowing up your comments, but it's been YEARS since I've played or sang "I Feel Like Traveling On." An elderly member of our church (who has since "traveled on") loved that song and would request it often. She always asked me to move from our "digital intelligent piano" to the 150 year old, honky-tonk upright with missing ivories galore (real ivories, believe it or not...), but with a great, full sound due to a cast-iron sounding board. Great memories!!!

A hymn few people know - it’s an old one. Brethren hymn from Scotland : Two little children went down to play, down by the clear water side. One looked up to the boatman and said ‘ Row me over the tide’.
Chorus: Row me over the tide, Row me over the tide. Someone is waiting for me over there, please row me over the tide.
Has anyone heard it , anyone with the verses - a bonus to have the music !

Oh how I love and look forward to these concerts every week! I suspect you must be about 10 or 15 years younger than I as "Shine, Jesus Shine" was like the most popular song ever during my teen years. We even had motions to go along with it! I think I learned it for the first time at church camp, and it just took off like wild fire from there until everyone just got kind of tired of it after about 10 years or so. Now I only encounter it infrequently, but when I play it, I usually start in A-flat and modulate the last verse to A (which is the key it's usually written in, although I have seen it in G as well).

Natalie, one of the best parts of your Sunday Hymns is saying, "I know that song and it's been too long since I sang it". So this week I ordered a new silver hymnal ... you've inspired me to get back up to speed and not forget what I've known. The oldest hymn I know is from about 520 AD Ireland "Be Thou My Vision."

Hi from the other side of the pond. I discovered your playing by accident and love your ability to play with and without music scores.
The Song 'shine Jesus shine' is one written by Graham Kendrick. one of the UK's new breed of songwriters. It features in Elim songbooks and sometimes on a song programs we have over here called songs of praise.
    th-cam.com/video/Oj-peLrD_-g/w-d-xo.html
The speed you play is correct, except th chorus goes with a bit more pace as its bot ha praise and response hymn.
Do you have recourse to the old Elim chorus books which are ideal for melody and singalong, I assume you do for the Sankey hymn book which contains many o Moodys songs although I notice you play some songs with tunes I don't recognise.
The second tune to 'Praise my soul the king of heaven'; is the more familiar one over here!
Thank you for your playing a leading us in he praise of God.

Please make a long playing cd. We sometimes listen all afternoon, and the longest video is about an hour. It reminds me of the old country church I went to as a child. It originally had a balcony for slaves. Great acoustics. My older family is almost gone and I am thankful they are with Jesus. I would hate for them to see what has happened to the country they helped build. MARANATHA all!

On the TH-cam Channel of your vids; I click on the clog wheel, (Settings Icon) reduce (slow) your vid from 100% (a.k.a. Normal) down to 75%. I'm glad you can't hear me. It takes me about 20 minutes to Steel a song while you're playing about 1-2 minutes. That's because of the combination of the slower speed and then those 12 - 15 repeatedly times that I start you (Your Vids) from the beginning. Keep on Keeping on for the Lord.
