It was a bright summers evening, I was walking down the street with only a few quarters in my pocket wanting the new smash brothers game but unable to afford it. I came upon a yard sell, everything seemed to have been sold out. However upon further inspection I would see it! Super Smash Brothers Brawl for the Wii... i haven't played on the Wii in years, but I have never had it for the Wii before so I would ask how much it was. The people selling it seemed to be an older couple possibly in their mid 30's or 40's. The look the woman had on her face while asking the price was of pure sadness and despair. "T-that isn't suppose to be out here..." She would say nearly tearing up. Being such a young boy I was very stubborn and wanted anything that could hold me off for a while until i could get the new smash brothers. "ill give you all my money i have for it!" I'd say quickly almost as if it was a reflex to do so and i couldn't hold back the opportunity. The man and woman looked at each other then back at me before softly smiling... as if they noticed something about me that they may have missed before. "Wait one moment" the man would say before walking inside and coming out with a slightly scratched Wii that obviously saw some wear and tear before. "If we keep this around it'll only remind us of what we lost" He would say to the woman as she nodded softly. before I knew it they would hand me the copy of Super Smash Brothers Brawl as well as the Wii. "Thank you!" I would say out loud but think about how crazy they must of been for giving me a Wii and the game for such a little amount of money. Not to mention I didn't feel like taking out my old Wii so this would seem the easiest to use the one that I was given. Upon entering the front door of my home I would need to sneak past my mother and into my bedroom with my somewhat new Wii. After plugging up all the cords and putting the game in I would be greeted with the Smash Bros title screen on the Wii menu. Once the game would be turned on the Brawl theme would play... I have heard it on the internet before but this time it sounded nothing like what it once did. the singing would now sound like high pitched screams, I would chalk this up to an audio error with the AV cords hearing how that may happen sometimes. After finally getting to the title screen and entering the Brawl Mode I would see all the characters unlocked... except for one that was greyed out and slightly fuzzy... I was concerned about picking it playing as a few characters i knew first. Mario, Sonic, And Pikachu to name a few and after hours of playing into the night it would be getting pretty late. However before heading to sleep i would once again look at the grayed out character, after a moment my curiosity would get the better of me before selecting it. Usually after picking a character you would hear them speak through the wiimote with a small sound clip. However this one was different as it would only have a small scream occur. id select them again to see if it would change but it almost seemed the scream was worse,,, and with each select i only put this character in more pain. Id feel my face start to sweat with nervousness my worrying only growing as id fight against bowser. after pressing start my screen would go black with a small buzzing noise. I would look closer seeing the screen start to fade into an empty dark room with a small boy chained to the wall... He would have small punctures through his sides and chest. I would press a button on my Wii remote wondering what was happening as the boy would scream while getting stabbed. Id press another button before realizing that with each button press it would stab the boy. I would quickly through my controller to the side, my breathing getting more heavy. The stabbing would only get worse it seemed as i quickly jolted up and unplugged the Wii my TV flashing a blinding light before going dark once more. The room once again fading in, this time showing the shackles the boy was in but empty... then... i heard a knock at my bedroom door...
It’s funny how sonic.exe is such a shitty story both at the time and in retrospect so seeing it still strive within relevance to this day just makes it all the more funny
