The curl refresher is also a leave in and when I tell you it's the BEST leave in I have used on my low porosity hair ever. I wash my hair and deep condition it. I apply this curl refresher as my leave in and it leaves my hair super soft. It goes well with EVERYTHING I have paired it with thus far. It has amazing slip also!! No flaking with anything I have mixed it with. I love it.
Great review! I am not a WNG curlyfriend…but I did use the Mousse Def Texture Foam on top of Oyin Handemade Whipped Pudding for a twist out. It was well defined, good hold and lasted a solid 7 days. Most impressed that it was moisturized the entire time.
Interesting because I love big poppa because I can push my wash and go’s for 2 weeks.. not saying that’s the best thing to do lol but I think the hold is great. Thanks for the review. Now I want to try the pop and lock.
I tried Big Poppa at launch last year and quickly realized that it’s my winter gel. I got different and better results in the winter time.
When my ends look a little frizzy I find that using my detangling brush helps smooth it.
For those of y’all still watching this- big poppa is a very glycerin heavy gel. I would use big poppa as a base (moisturizing humectant) gel and pop lock as a topper (antihumectant) gel. I’m not 100% sure if those two specifically mix but the ingredients should work well together if you’re having trouble with frizz or a crispy feeling with big poppa.
Thanks for sharing
I feel the same way when applying their Mousse Def Texture Foam. I’ve found I have better application and long lasting and defined results with applying their Mousse Def on damp or damp/towel-dried hair. I think technique also plays a role as well. If I work it through on damp hair and want less definittion I don’t rake and smooth as much. I also sit under a hooded-drier.
Wow I had no idea you could return products at Target if you don't like them. I will definitely start spending my coins there! Great video 📸
Thank u so much for this review!! I was struggling trying to decide which one would be best for me lol. Considering that I prefer to do my hair outside the shower the pop lock seems ideal for me 🤩
I found this video very informative, thank you! I apply gel on soaking wet by default, so I would’ve been frustrated if this gel didn’t give me the definition I was looking for.
Absolutely, love the hair volume you got with Pop Lock. Gorgeous!!
Great info! I was tempted to try them, but Mmmm maybe I'll hold off. Your hair looks fab but I don't have the patience for the learning curve.
Yes I bought the mousse and no hold will try the pop & lock 👏🏼 thanks for the tips 😄
Thanks for the review. 🙂 seems like a lot of learning curves
I’m loving this trend for me. I wish I knew this 6 years ago. Hair shrinkage is real. I look like Alicia Keys in the Secret life of Bees. I’m on week two. Next week I will do a twist out with foam ✨💕✨
Tried mousse def alone and maybe I didn’t have enough for protein in my hair as my curls were limp - not forming as a result from no butters or oils method. Thank you for your tips on these products as I thought I wasted my $
I have been using the pop and lock gel, i like the product i just don’t like the smell, it kinda gives me a headache
The only thing I've used from The Doux is the Mousse Def foam, and I like it for my wash n go.
My jar of Big Poppa is yellow, and I brought 2 jars from different stores
Thanks for sharing
So is mine
I purchased Big Poppa and Pop Lock…didn’t work for me and took them right back to Target
Yea, I agree . I really wanted to like her stuff but it is a no for me. While when I first put it on it OK, the next day....dry as a saltine cracker! ...not kidding! Sticking with what works....UFD for me. That's it and that's all.
Good detailed info!. I really wantef to likr her products, but they dried my hair out. Like I mentioned below. Must be all that protein.
@@dorothyturner2244 my hair was dry and crispy the next day too! I had the foam for several months before I used it. Tried it 2-3 times and it ended up in the trash can! It was a no ma’am for me
@@msstacey777 omg same here ! In the trash it all went.
@@dorothyturner2244 😆
I’m curious though why you used the Mousse as a base did you try it the opposite way adding the gels on first and then the mousse as a topper on both gels? I feel like I put the product with more hold first letting that hit my hair first and then a topper with less hold on top.
Yes, came out the same regardless of the order
@@ALove4Me Okay that’s interesting thanks for letting us know 😊
Why did you choose to smooth it in instead of racking? Also why didn't you use on soaking wet hair? I watched the whole video 😂😂.
I did apply to soaking wet hair and I smoothed instead of raking because I did not want to mess up the curls I had already formed with the gel
I feel like I'm almost there with my WNGs but I have trouble drying and stretching my hair. my hair hates heat and my hair always ends up wet-shrunken but defined. lol. maybe I'm using too much products and I might try banding.
I love the pop lock. I have a combination of the 4 textures and I love it. But I do prefer a voluminous set.
Could we get a mousse/ wrap-foam twist-out series for the winter time???
We shall see…
You were getting that sticky feeling because mousse def is supposed to be used alone.
Nah, I used the old formula and it was more sticky. The new formula is not
Thank you for the “pop lock” segment. This is my second time using it, and it’s like I have defined hair day one, but by day 2 it looks like I have nothing on there. I’ve been doing it in the shower…but I thought maybe I should do it out there shower with LESS wet hair. Can’t wait to try it this way tomorrow…I’m excited. I live the big poppa!
I’ve also been stretching on day one, still watching your video…but I’m thinking maybe i shouldn’t stretch it. Stretching it definitely breaks the cast…I think I need it to keep the definition
Let me know if the tweaks you are making work
Your hair is looking luscious, I must say 😍
Fair and balanced review. I feel The Doux is for lazy naturals with easy curl formation IE 4a-ish hair. Their products don’t “create” curls they “capture”. So if you guys have to form your curls and do finger coils, quit playing and get you some Eco/ Wetline, if you have naturally high coil formation give the doux a try.
Well said and I agree 💯%
The glycerin is just not it. Especially in this Louisiana weather 😂
Thanks 7-4-2021

Do you still hair type your hair as 4c?
I classify my hair as type 4 with a, b, and c textures
