Great stuff. Hand-held cutting with a new razor blade under a 20x (2x objective + 10x ocular ) stereomicroscope can also give exceptionally good results with some training. This was always the best solution for me, I preferred over a hand-held microtome.

this are no cell-membranes by plasmolysis. This are simply the cell-walls which you cutted

New idea using clear glue. I have an extensive collection of pollen (my special study). I use gelatin sealed with varnish rings around the covers lips. Would Elmer’s work instead.

I watched someone cutting stem segments freehand using a razor, and it seemed much less of a hassle than the microtome. What is you opinion on this, and do you have a preference?
