Then, I show you the process of how to make an Emo Rap type song from scratch in roughly 7 minutes.

@@JRent506 I've all the skills I need from music production to writing and the ability to deliver however what I don't have is a handle on my performance anxiety even though it's just me here in my own space and studio. I don't know what it is that comes over me like a stranglehold but it's tough to break through. I know I can do what I set my mind to. We call can. This was a textbook effort that really helped me understand the dynamics and It’s a great foundation for would-be artists to build upon. Thanks for this. My two cents is to add a bit of slur to the flow, but not so much that you’re mumbling incoherence. Emoting the lines as if you’re acting is also important. Finally, pushing a little growl or rasp can really make a typical voice stand out.

i think the world needs emo rap, it's what seems to be the last breath of true music left that embodies true inner emotion and brings it to reality. There is still music out there today that isn't emo rap that tries to do this, but nothing can replicate the same tones, vibes and hit you with such emotion that the music itself swallows you while the lyrics are the stomach acid steadily consuming you until there is nothing left but the nutrients of what you become from it, something similar to this was the rock/metal era, and rap/hip hop era of where they don't just use lyrics or the music do the work but combine both to make a great work of art worth letting take control of you while you sit there jamming away from something relatable and beautiful. Just my take.

Do you have any tips for making sad or bittersweet melodies? Yours always sound a lot better than mine, and I was wondering if there was some theory tips or something you could give me.

I don't know, because a lot of it comes down to just clicking in notes and reproducing the vibe you're looking for that way. The best I can do is give you a basic chord progression that I've used in past emo type beats a couple times that I know works:
      VI, VII, i, v
So if it were D minor it would be Bb major, C Major, D minor, A minor
But just knowing the chords will only get you so far, you also need to figure out the rhythm you want them to hit in and the topline melody that'll compliment and reinforce the vibe you're going for. I basically just go with chords I know will work and then I trial and error my way through the rest

@@JRent506 That helps a lot. I've been really focused on the melody portion rather than the chords, and not even going for the rhythm or anything. Thanks for the tip man!
