On November 19, 1941 the German ship Kormoran battled and sank the Australian Light Cruiser HMAS Sydney. The Sydney was lost with all hands, the Kormoran sank not long afterwards. The story of the commerce raiders is fascinating and extremely overlooked in the history of WW2. The last of the actual pirates of the high seas.
Stalin stabbed by his buddy Hitler? Even if this were true, it is one thing to be a "buddy", another to be an "ally". The real stab Stalin received was from the real allies (UK and US), who had promised to open the second front immediately, causing the Russo-German negotiations for a separate peace to fail (spring 1943). The carnage of Kursk and all the following ones ensued. Stalin took a note of it and after the war he changed the wind for the storm (to use Churchill's overused phrase).
Non-human voice? Maybe, but there must be a German AI, because the pronunciation of "Kriegsabzeichen fuer Hilfskreuzer" seems very good to me. What should be corrected instead are the subtitles, which, apart from the indecipherable German names (that can be excused ...), transform "eagle and ship were in gold" into " ... in guilt". For everything else, an excellent presentation.
The story of the Coronel is interesting. Originally the freighter Togo, she ran the British blockade to get back to Germany when the war started. She was then used as a troop ship in the Norwegian campaign, then converted to a minelayer. Next came conversion to a raider, but she was heavily damaged trying to run the English Channel and had to sneak back to Germany. Since she never began a raiding cruise, she was never officially named Coronel; that was the planned name for the Togo when she became a raider. Togo was then converted to a night fighter direction ship with massive Wurzburg and Freya radar aerials, and served to interdict British night bombing raids. She survived the war, and after being taken to Britain for examination of her technology, she subsequently served the British, American, and Norwegian navies, usually being used to repatriate POWs and relocate displaced persons, taking over 5,000 people to settle in Australia. By the 1950s she was back in civilian merchant service, and served with several owners from several nations, usually around the Atlantic but at one point operating from the Philippines. She finally met her end in 1984 after running aground off Mexico, and then being broken up, after almost half a century of hard work around the globe.
Fascinating video.
Great video. Surpised you didn't mention the raider sinking the Australian Cruiser... a true David vs. GOLIATH victory!

No pirates. Corsairs.
I love the AI voice.
It's a sign of the future.
When everything is f......d. 😂
The music spoils it unfortunately.
Get rid of the AI voice please.
They transited Siberia because they were escorted by a Russian icebreaker. Back before Hitler stabbed Stalin in the back they were buddies.
Roosevelt chuchill were stalins buddies until 1945 a taboo subject today a disgrace.
