    I still think the real problem is the overly refined industrial diet (sugar and flour) (the calories in component) and its impact on metabolic health and perhaps to the microbiota because of the lack of fiber. Lack of dietary diversity is also a problem. The exercise component is interesting but Lieberman spent a good deal of the lecture showing that human locomotion (and general fuel usage) is very energy efficient; that means it is very hard to "burn calories" doing exercise. The (calories out) component. Biology is interested in conserving energy, not wasting it. It is imperative that diet is appropriate for human physiology. Intermittent fasting is more relevant to human health than sustained exercise.
