My dream house: An Edwardian or Victorian styled house, but new built, situated in the middle of a large piece of wooded land. It would have all the details of an older house that are never put in new homes today. Like a vestibule and wide hallways and traverse windows; also many of the architectural details that you never see: ornate parquet floors, fireplaces in each room, a barrel ceiling in the entry hall, window seats and stained-glass windows everywhere. But it would also have modern touches, too, like a master suite with a dressing room and a good sized bath, plus a 2nd floor laundry room. The kitchen, however, would be as close to period as possible, with a re-engineered old coal stove, updated with gas and a walk-in pantry. Also, it would be built of stone. On the property I'd also build a hobbit-style house into a hillside and a tree house. Of course. :D
I was stationed in the Outer Banks (OBX) 2016-18 and can personally confirm the constant upkeep and clearing of NC12. And that was on normal days. During Hurricane Matthew, it had chunks washed out and was impassable for days. Thankfully, as a USCG member, we had emergency access, just so we could get to our radio transmitter sites, but man! That was hairy! 😮

I've seen those houses in the Outer Banx, N.C. that was in this video and I'm surprised that alot of them have survived this long because the last time I was down there there were alot of older houses are really close to the ocean and it has been over 10 years since the last time I was there so I can only imagine how close they are to the ocean now and one time I was down there a hurricane had come through the area a few weeks before I was there and the storm surge had pushed a wall of sand onto the beach front road and the fast food restaurants that were aling that road the parking lots had been flooded and the only road you could use to get around was the main road that was 2 blocks away from the ocean and the beach house we always stayed in because it belongs to a member of the family is only a block and a half away from the ocean so anytime it rains hard or they get a big storm down there the yard and driveway floods and along the whole block around our beach house were people that live there year around so I can only imagine their struggles from day to day during the rainy season and hurricane season even know their houses are on stilts the rain and one day the ocean can be a big problem for them

That dumpster house *DOES* look really great, but then again, I'm the type of person who needs very little to be happy. The only things I would add into it are a small TV and a gaming system. Maybe a laptop too.
Dumpster house is great ... except for it not having a bathroom of any kind. Not worth it. Okay, there are other places in the world that deal with high water and have adapted. For instance, in Amsterdam, and many other places in Europe prone to flooding. Their houses "float" on a base of stilts that allow them to go up and down with the tide. Stilts aren't enough. They need to be adaptive and I have no idea why the US hasn't adopted EU tech to fix this problem.
Idk how ppl can live in glass houses.
