Another question: What are the pros and cons of using the 'line through' lures versus the fixed type? Do the line through lures spin/present better ? One obvious pro for the fixed must be the ease of switching lures by simply clipping on and off the swivel clip as opposed to having cut line and retie after adding lure, beads and hook. Not easy in windy conditions.
the major advantage of the line thru lures is as soon as you hook a sea trout theyll either start to jump and flex or begin headshakin under water and rolling they know its the best method to get the hook dislodged because the line thru lure will travel up the line when they start this they dont have any lever from the weight of the lure to dislodge it they way the do with a fixed lure so it can help a lot on holding fish, as you mentioned the added advantage of using fixed lures and a snap lock is you can change you lure with a lot more regularity as opposed to havin to re-rig line thru lures, one thing ive found is to just cut the lure at ur swivel to your leader and just change ur lure rather than havin to re-bead and tie ano hook on but its only any good if your using lures of the same relative size, hope this helps a bit mate n feel free to drop a comment anytime lol as long as your subscribe 😂😂 onli jokin pal 👍👍
@@MisterSkeptic cheers mate gentleman!! have a look at my videos, ive some other videos on lures you may like, once again thanks for leaving a comment and becoming a subscriber mate 👍👍
That's really.interesting what you say about the line through lure not providing any leverage for the trout when they are trying to shake free. If you keep your reel drag very light, would this also make it difficult for the trout to get any leverage when trying to shake free?
@@MisterSkeptic yes a lighter drag is advised with them but too loose and they'll get to the bottom and try to catch the hook out on stones or weed (ive seen them do it no joke) another thing that can help is playing them with the rod tip low this seems to cut down on the jumping and they tend to make more straight runs and are slightly easier landed, but saying all that mate they are the number 1 houdini fish and sometimes its just in the lap of the gods wether they stay on or not
Very helpful video, thank you. Have you used the smaller kilty catchers and solvpilen 12gr? Find them good myself. How's the trout fishing going for you this year?

Some days the fish won’t look at anything I use…. Should I stick with a few lures? Thanks again
i get my blanks too mate there the fish of 1000 casts for a reason, but where a trout might not be hungry you can sometimes provoke them and the speed spinning method is very good at getting the re-actions but somedays it wont work then id suggest maybe droppin lure size to something small 10 gram or under but again get it movin sea-trout really do love a speedy bait, i think tide heights seem to play a role most of my best fishing seems to come from tides rangin from 3.4 to 3.8 tides, i often think the bigger tides either unsettle them or push the fish in a lot wider range, to be honest trial and error is the best weapon you have when it comes to it and even the days you wana throw the head up dont because they do take again lol i hope this helped a tad mate 👍👍

hey mate thanks for watching!! ill use a bit of a long leader at least 7 to 8ft it might sound like overkill but it cuts out any chance of them seeing the mainline, as for the distance between dropper i like it at least 70/80 cm any closer and it doesnt really look right when you see them on the retrieve, ive a video (early season tactics) and i show my dropper rigs, if u get another 5 free mins mate have a gander, thanks for watching and commentin mate 👍👍
