*(Pt. 1)🙏🏽Great interview, great history, great memory. Kudos, Bravo to Wing Commander P. N. Sogbojor.* Anyway, FYI (for your information), our father, the late Hon. B. E. Dwira was the first Ashanti Regional Chairman of the CPP during the hectic and brutal days of "mate me ho" or "yɛ ate yɛn ho" (i.e. I have separated or segregated myself or we have ceded/segreagated ourselves) that is the NLM (National Liberation Movement) faction.
Forty nine (49) direct "action troopers" of the CPP were killed, particularly, in Kumasi, where the fighting was fiery, fierce, fiendish, barbaric and most brutal. My father organized all their burials and funerals. Note: The forty nine (49) CPP 'action troopers' were those who were actually killed in the Kumasi municipality by the NLM "mate me ho" faction. Other CPP supporters/activists killed the NLM faction in other parts of the Ashanti region (which was before the demarcation of the Brong-Ahafo region in April 959) couldn't be properly or accurately accounted for. Such was the horror & terror of the struggle for Ghana's independence. Bloody, brutal, barbaric, brazen. It was more than just toil & sweat. (Don't forget the "kum" kill Baffoe story).
Our father's house and his printing press that published the Ashanti Sentinel newspaper, a pro-CPP & Ashanti, Ghana and African Union development newspaper was dynamited or bombed by the NLM faction. My father, late Hon. B. E. Dwira was also the first Mayor or Chairman of Kumasi City Council (now Mayor of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly). Hon. James Owusu came after Hon. B E Dwira's tenure of Mayoral office. (Note: Wing Comander Sogbojor mentions their names about 23-24 minutes into the interview).
Later he (Hon B. E. Dwira) became the Executive Director of Ghana Cocoa Marketing Board, Accra & Cocoa Marketing Company, London. He awarded scholarships to brilliant Ghanaian students to study abroad.
Some of the scholarship beneficiaries were Dr. Hilla Liman, former president of Ghana, Dr. Brakohiapa (Police Hospital), Dr. Appiah Menka (Apino soap), Dr. Neequaye (Neuro-surgeon, Korle Bu hospital), Dr. Kwame Safo Adu (Safo Adu hospital), Dr. Sogbojor, Dr. Nkansa Gyan (Nkansah Gyan hospital/clinic), Justice Mrs. Theresa Strigner Scott, Justice Mrs. Emelia Aryee, Justice Mrs Bamford Addo, and many more others, infact more than a thousand students benefited from that scholarship scheme.
He also headed the Ghana Hotels & Tourist Board and built the Kumai City Hotel (now Golden Tulip hotel, Nyhiaso) & commissioned it himself with his guest of honour being the then Asantehene, Nana Sir Osei Kwame Kyeretwie Agyeman Prempeh 2, after whom also the Osei Kyeretwie Secondary School (OKESS) in Kumasi was named. Asantehene attended the ceremony with his wife Lady Prempeh.
I still have the photographs of that commissioning ceremony, and many others as well.. He built and commissioned the Meridian Hotel at Tema also. Hon. B. E. Dwira also headed the Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC) and built the Nsawam Cannery, Nsawam, and Dansoman Akoko Foto, Dansoman, Accra. 🙏🙏🙏Seth KBD, email: faithshield360@gmail.com or bulletproof247@gmail.com

Am very obsessed about our past and happy to have at heard his clarification on the situation that led to the overthrow of late president Nkrumah. At least he said the situation in ghana was not what it was decribed for us to believe. He said there were no shortages of any essencial needs as part of reasons for the 1966 coup d'états. This has been the signature of all coup d'états in Ghana. What a feeling.

Thanks. This is serious sociological education from pre independence Ghana in the Ashanti Region. Very fascinating stuff. I'm most impressed with the 'lingo' such as the origins of 'two two' and the premium service equivalent 'bobbie stand' firm indeed. The Sogborjor Family were my neighbours at Osu/Labone post Independence days. Those were the days !

with regards to the national service, He is absolutely right. In Finland every male born citizen has to do military national service at the age of 18. It has instilled discipline and economic growth towards work.

Hmm one fighter pilot is equivalent to one coy as he causes more collateral damage to the enemy zone than 100 infantry troops. A huge access to the military
