These sounds are just so great and "dream like", it might be nostalgia talking but I really think they are special

I was always an xbox person so I dont have any nostalgia and its dreamlike for me so no

Man the PS2 almost sounds futuristic in 2021. Feels more fitting for the PS5s darker themed UI.

Takafumi Fujisawa was the goat for sound effects we shouldved sticked to that, you can never perfect perfection
It sounds futuristic because that was the fad among technology companies at the time
I'm pretty sure these sounds will be nostalgic for a very long time to come. Even at the present time, the sound makes you feel like you are in the sea, and around the waves that make this wonderful sound...
The PS2 sounds always sounded like Gran Turismo menus.
ikr
Or Gran Turismo menus sounded like the PS2 Sounds
@@utkucan3966 No. The original Gran Turismo on PS1 sounded like that too. So GT came first.
Totally Agree 100%

is it just me or they actually go along pretty nicely
Nope, I also think that they really do go along

Man there should be like a sound package on the store for this that would be awesome because man that nostalgia is hitting hard
I know that'll be more awesome to know if you ever had a PS2&5!
@@MasonTheOneLooneyDude actually on PS4 they have a theme that I believe is called legacy theme and it looks like the PS2 and makes the PS2 sounds if they would bring that to PS5 that would be amazing
I would want that as well.
@Digitzu yup that’s the one
@@Dyl_Apple Well even with the correction products from Sony make it more easier than more if you try to get PS2 into PS5 and conduct a sound sequence.

@@greatwavefan397 they might do a remake of ps2s like how they did with the ps1
As if Sony cared enough to do that
Nice currents pfp
What’s great with each PlayStation is that they all have their own style, sounds, and unique identity. The PS2 wouldn’t be as nostalgic if it carried over to the PS3 or PS4, and we get to be nostalgic about the PS3’s cool sounds as well!
Yeah, I booted up a PS3 for the first time in ages and it struck me pretty hard. The PS4 is pretty bland though

should be an option to change the home sound effects to the ps1, 2, 3, and 4.
The PS1 had no sounds for its menus
Yes
If not, they should make them themes
It's honestly free money for Sony. I'm sure many would buy the themes.

PS1 and PS2 sounds had so much intrigue in them, like "whoa dude, we've advanced so much in technology games got a Z axis now!"

0:15 sounds satisfying
This whole video is the embodiment of
"They had us in the first half, not gonna lie"
No way... This remember me of a lot of weekends when i was with my friends at my place. even tough i am 15(and have a ps4 for about 1 year)my parents gived me ps2 in my 7-8 year birthday, it was historic seeing how much can a tiny console do. God of war, Dragon ball, Resident evil, Gta San Andreas and so much others.
I literally speended days and more days playing classic games, but, all of it ended when my ps4 arrived, i couldn't have two consoles at the same time so i upgraded for gen 8. But, when i was playing Astro's playroom night time on my cousin's ps5, i almos cried and just felt so much nostalgy, and... Realization for hearing this tone again. I think i'll try to get my ps2 back with my memory card someday.
I'm Almost Crying Right Now, im Not Even Joking.
I never knew I would remember the sound of moving throw options
This is making my heart very happy. I love the PS2 and it's noises, especially the menu scroll and button press noises. All very ethereal-sounding. Reminds me of simpler times.
I had a PS2 when I was like 7 years old and the startup sound always used to scare the shit outta me. Idk, theres just something eerie about it lol
Everytime it appears "Matrix" i have to go up my bed before the ps2 gets me :)
Playing the lego Star Wars games and battlefront 2 was the life 😔
PS2 always had the vibe of this alternate dimension/afterlife feeling. The background of the voud added so much atmosphere to the console. I loved it.
I miss these dreamlike sounds so much. Every time I ended up in the menu of my old PS2 that was always in my mom's bedroom on those rainy saturdays, it always felt like the calm before the storm. Where time slowed down and I had nothing to worry about. No friends. No chores. No distractions. Just endless peace.
Life was so much simpler back in 2006.
Weirdo.
@@Xominus I relate to the PS2 nostalgia That Guy above is talking about, and so do most of the people in the comments here, by the looks of things.

Definitely throws me back to my childhood as well, holy cow... I don't think I ever would've realized as a kid how good these sounds actually were, even if... some parts got scary sometimes, but it really is so different, almost surreal to listen to it. As a kid I don't think I ever would've felt as if I was staring at a sunset or a bright starry night sky sitting just listening to the ocean... c'mon I know for a fact I couldn't have been the only one to just hear the ps2 be such a soothing ocean (◡‿◡✿)

I love these sounds they give me so much nostalgia 👌😩
I have never heard the ps5, this sounds perfect
Same
this would go really good for the PS5.
Bro I just love the Sound of the Opening Sequence or boot up shit it sounded so Majestical
This would actually be really awesome to do on the PS4 at least, since it has a huge variety and of themes, you could have like a ps one ps 2 and ps3 theme with accompanying sounds like a lot of the themes there does, with a the sounds replaced with those sounds including the startup. The PS5 essentially made themes redundant since it blends in everything way better than the ps4 did.
Themes are still important
I wish there were custom sound schemes for the PS5 and this was one of the options
I hope so
Would love some more punch in the 'big bang' opening there. Either, everything was awesome.
I've never owned a PS, or ever played in one, or even seen a game from it, but it still feels great to hear. Wish I could have lived the childhood everyone here in the comments did.
Back when the console's sound design and UI was unique and not sterilized like a console version of an iPhone
God, the PS2 sound effects make me smile due the childhood memories
Only true gamers will understand.
The only Playstaton I had was the PS1 but this sound reminds me of Silent Hill
These waves on background is so nostalgic, and remembers GTA Vice City when i was a child playing in PS2 in CRT TV haha, so good.
