      I'm reading through the comments to try to get more info. So does he usually skate with his cane? I'm a blind skater as well & am trying to learn his process. I've only ever met one other blind skater in my life & he uses echo location. I use a mix of echo location & time distance. But I don't usually use my cane when I skate. So I'm just trying to figure it out.

    • @mikefinnegan6766

      @@mikefinnegan6766 Sickness. What kinds of tricks does he do?

    • @thegrudge
      @thegrudge 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Coco Atama the video showed him skating ledges and doing flat ground tricks mostly.
      He did a 50-50, frontside nose slide, and some board slides on the ledge. He used his cane while doing the tricks to judge the distance to the ledge.
      He ollied a 2 stair while using his cane as well.
      The video also showed him using his cane to judge width of a manual pad and then doing a manual.
      He did some flip tricks with his cane but then did a Cab without the cane!
      There was some really cool tricks in there.

    • @cocoatama
      @cocoatama 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thegrudge I just might try that. I usually skate things like banks & pyramids so I can feel when to do a trick. But if I can use my cane that might help with stairs. Random question but how tall do you think his cane is in relation to him? I have an Ambutech 56" with a high mileage tip. The length of the cane & the type of tip change how it reacts & feels. But I also wonder cause 90% of the tricks I do are handplant, footplant, & fingerflip variations so I'm not sure how easy skating with my cane would be. But I definitely needs to give it a shot.

I want to find as many as I can & start an all blind team. Cause while I couldn't tell a lot of the tricks he was doing it sounds like he's got ledges on lock. I mainly skate freestyle, flat, & banks & boxes. The other blind skater I met skates mainly transition. So I think that's a solid balance. And I don't think I can FS flip a 5 stair. But If I find the right 5 stair I can for sure beanplant front shove it. Maybe switch boneless FS flip it. Not sure though haven't found a 5 that isn't overly long.

    God bless you brother honestly you are an inspiration to literally everyone, take what obstacles life throws at us and learn a way to over come them. Isnt it awesome to feel that no other skater in the world that has vision can do what u do, which makes you at the list of one of the best skaters in the world. Pma and a will to overcome fear and passion and love for everything, sometimes we see that when the most important sense is taken away it doesnt alter your change to do what u love it provides a benchmark to say if he is happy and loves life and is so humble not allowing anyone or anything to stop him just living his dream and showing that nothing is impossible that we literally take life for granted and things that seem hard in life really arent that hard or bad for that matter at all. Just this video has made me so happy that he is still living his best life just showing people he can do it with his skills he learnt before when he could see and he learnt to do it when he cant, i mean i literally cant even find my light switch at night in the dark and will smash toes and break shit trying to find it and this talented gentleman can find his light switch his shoea his board his keys his way to tampa finds his courage and found his way around a course and ledges to grind off and on, does this every single day because u can take away this mans vision but he has proven himself to anyone that when u take the bad and the good there really isnt any thing bad at all because if hes happy like this and never stopped doing what he loves he isnt living, if only every man had his attitude imagine how amazing life would be for all. You are an amazing and talented strong person because thats what you wanted to be full stop. Loved this it makes me happy that he is happy.... Never give up.. My man.

    Such a good video! I would love a version without the language to show to the class (of nine year olds) that I teach, cause there is such an inspiring message they could hear from this!

    That slowly blurring of the screen definetely made me more empathic to the guy. To be honest was kind of disturbing and really put things in perspective.
    Way to go Dan! Hope that skateboarding keeps bringing you lots of good times!
