Really, really nice job mate. Your customer should be over the moon with the condition those are now in. They now sound fabulous, of course, so there's another precious pair of Celestions with a new long term lease of life. Superb. Looking forward to the Q7 review.
Wow great work, i have the same sl6 si but problems with refoaming the both woofer, im from Tunisia, and with ip adress i cant acess to many seller for the right foam of it, i would like someone help find the right pieces to bring them back to life,. Thank you for the video
I've got some DL6's - still working fine - touch wood. I'll clean up the woofers and perhaps paint them up with satin black. Have you any paint recommendations please?
@@dittonworks Thanks for that, but not sure about the vinyl wrap - they feel pretty rough 'papery' to the touch. They're the Series Two model, early 80s I believe.
I picked up a pair of sl6si for under $100. However, one tweeter is bad. Do you know the values of the tweeter, that way I can start working towards a third party replacement. Thank you!
@@dittonworks I'm assuming you're on the east side of the pond. If so, that makes things a bit impractical, but not impossible. It's in four pieces: mounting flange, dome (crinkled pretty bad), plate, and magnet.
Cheers for the mention mate. Great work. Another pair of speakers brought back to life. Top work.
Thanks for the repair Kev! Can't wait to get them set up.

use a black indelible marker for the screws and grill👍
Nice job getting them back up to spec. I have some Celestion 5's and I like them a lot. How much of a step up are the SL6? Thanks
5’s are very good, designed by my friend Martin Roberts.
The SL6 is quite a bit more refined but requires quite a meaty amp for them to work best

I think it’s vinyl wrap on DL series.
You’d need to peel that off if you’re painting them nicely.
I would re-wrap them rather than painting them.

they look great!
Are the SL5's a big step up from my excellent C3 mk2's? It's for my second system - they will be driven by a Cambridge Audio 35 WPC amp.
SL6’s are higher quality than Celestion 3’s but 3’s really are very good 👍
Could you please send me a link from where the rubber O ring for CELESTION SL6s woofer or the bass driver can be obtained. Please advise.
I can repair the SL6s bass driver. Contact via Ditton Works Facebook page

No 3rd party replacement buddy..
I can probably fix it for you though.
