Grande come sempre....
hai, iam new to your channel, youtube recomended me, love to watch, love your screw driver set and also knife set, caan u provide me link to buy or brand name or email me tiru1915@gmail.com
So glad to see this made with "around the house tools". All too often I see "DIY" projects that start with someone mounting something in a bridgeport or a CNC machine. Great video!
wasn't the metal stand from a CNC machine?
@@OmarMunoz Maybe? It could easily be made with a hack saw and some files
th-cam.com/video/5h89tFuMQGU/w-d-xo.html
I finally succeeded and made the watch with a little extra, both wirelessly charged and with a 12v connection. Thank you so much for a great idea and execution. Waiting for your further projects. Thank you very much 😉
Intro: IMPRESSIVE
How to make: I will just buy an new alarm clock
It was great👍, I make it for my daughter and I use a lithium battery and a solar panel for charging, I like it portable😊, your videos are great👍👍
Really nice looking but:
1° you can't tell the time in the dark despite the LEDs
2° you have a battery AND a power outlet
very nice... two we can do with this is 1) Glow hands to see the time at night and 2) changing the led colors based on the weather...
Better title: How to make a glowing fancy clock that doesn't show the time in the dark
Yeah, for some reason, inset power circuits wasn't high on his to-do list on a DIY repurposed clock.
See my comment, is easy!
After watching this video I was more and more convinced to sell my broken hard drive to a junk shop instead of doing DIY
Me too
This project should win the Grand master craftsman repurposed project of the year award!!
That vacuum tho 🤣🤣🤣 BRILLIANT!!
I was expecting a high speed disc to spin at the right speed, synced with strobing LEDs to display the time. I have so many hard drives that I disassembled and properly got rid of. I now have a giant magnetic block of neodymium magnets stuck together.
neodyium .....lol
me laughing at myself cause i never knew the element
POV clock right?
@@jaidheersirigineedi8110 - Yes, instead of the lights spinning, the disk with holes would spin. Something like that.
I thought the same, and it seems doable... ish. I'm really thinking on give it a try, against my own odds probably :P, but sounds very fun. I'll have to find out a couple more HDDs since I got rid of most of them. I would like to team up for this if you're interested.
Well I was thinking on manipulating the protocol using it's own controller, like the guys that did music with a bunch of HDDs, but, it seems it is a bit more "simpler" than that... th-cam.com/video/K1asNB0te0o/w-d-xo.html&feature=emb_logo&ab_channel=IanSmith
Nice clock.
After watch this video, I prefer throw my broken hdd away 😂
The motor is still pretty useful, to some extent the plate. But the most useful is definitely the magnet, you'll never lose another screw :))
wtf!me too..
This is the main problem with SSD disks these days. They cannot be turned into a clock when they finally fail.
John Philippatos however they do make nice door wedges.
Very good
You can connect the power supply to the battery with a zener to reduce the voltage to 1.5v
Glorious end for an old EIDE disk! Next episode: "How to recover data from a broken hard disk turned into a clock".

Should integrate the power of the watch into a lithium battery or rechargeable battery, so it will be more convenient than using 2 independent power sources.
It's an AA battery it's not that serious

Cool Project,
and I think it will be best if you could attach a battery that powers both clock and LED
How to simply make a clock using broken HDD..
All you need is :
-A Driller
-A Cutter
-A Gas Cutter
-A Rocket Launcher

This was so cool of a project, that I dug out my box of old dead Hard Drives, IDE SATA, SCSI and so far have made 5 clocks... I got a batch of 15 clock movements off of ebay and some different kinds of leds and went to building.
I added a on/ /off switch to the back and a mini-usb 5 volt breakout board to plug a old phone charger to power the lights. I went with standard leds and 220 ohm resistors and 8 leds in parallel... That way the cost would be down and everyone has a old phone charger...
I used some Straw Hat clear, Defused clear, 5mm, 3mm ones. I got some that flicker and 3 color blinking too... I also lined the inside of the area under the plater with aluminium foil to reflect the light better (most of mine are painted black) and glued it down and burnished out the wrinkles with a cotton swab like I do when adding chrome to my model car builds... :-)
There all a bit different but still alike... Lol
So guess what's for Xmas kids! LOL
With this covid-19 crap and all my kids work from in a home office, this would be something nice to have on their desks that Dad made. :-D
Besides what else are you going to use those old phone chargers for... Lol
Thanks for the video and the great Christmas idea!
LLAP
Very nice. Your work cannot be calculated in terms of money. Hays off. Keep going to motivate your followers ...
Should have made the needles glowing too other wise not so cool to not to be able to see time in the dark
And lose the clock battery, being as you're using a mains DC supply ... plop a buck converter in and reduce to 1.5v for the clock voltage ...
I thought so also, could have RGB the whole thing as in the dark you won't see the hands thus the time.
@@jleepl Getting power to the hands is really hard on something that is moving, especially when there are multiple planes of things moving. I was thinking maybe something that glowed in the dark?
i was thinking the same. Just add some glow in the dark material to needles. It's cooler.
Put glowpaint on the second-pointer
sehr schön gebaut. Danke für das schöne Video.
great idea.
in addition, you can mount swarowsky, fit by caliber, into holes in clock hands. the crystals will concentrate the light of led points so the hanfs will be visible in the dark.
nice, i think for someone like me who sleeps in the dark, I would prefer the clock hands wo be illuminated, the effects of those illuminated would give a soft effect to see the clock during night time. just a thought. it is an awesome idea though. 😎👌
Cool look at the end, but 1: You have the hour and minute hand reversed (short hand should be hours), and 2: The hands can't get past each other (Might be solved by correcting 1)
I was going to point this out. Huge mistake after a great project.
But its his style, there is nothing wrong in giving his own idea on design of hour or minute pointers
@@sandeshms2148 Style and functionality have to mesh. The clock is both unreadable and non-functional.
@@milesparris4045 yeah especially in the dark since nothing lights up the hands...but it looks cool!
Amazing!!! Good job, Danielle
Te dejo un like.
tbh i wouldn't put it on my desk, its ugly. but you put a lot of effort in it, I appreciate that. maybe you could slap an acrylic panel on top of that to hide some of the cable still keeping a mecha look
I know it's broken but it hurts to me seeing him touch the disk with his hands.
Very nicely made it it is very very good only thing is in nights you cont see the needles
Hi
You did a good job, but one thing is missing, that there is no light in clock needle. due to which its not showing time in a darkness.
Bravo, Daniele. God[Bible] bless.
It's great! I love it. I would just give it glow in the dark clock hands so that you could still tell what time it is exactly other than just "night time".
Yep ! Needs glow in the dark clock hands

SUPER!!!!!!!!!

The material of the hands could be a material that glows in the dark, it would give a special touch to this beautiful work
But these hands stay in the theme.
So true .. Thumb up
Looks great, but it could do with a lick of flourescent paint on the hands so you can see where they are in the dark.
ok.ru/video/851163875969
So genius like
Great design, excellent workmanship.Hdd is also beautiful
You never stop impressing me, you are a real electronic craftsman, thanks for the video.
I love your channel and your work, but I must confess there's a number of details that I would do differently in this one. For instance, I would use a single power source, rather than a battery for the clock and another power source for the Arduino. Also I would put some sort of cover in the back (maybe 3d printed) and I would use a LiPo cell from an old laptop or cellphone and a charge module, to make the whole set portable and rechargeable. But your video is inspiring. Thank you :-)
same thing also time indicators missing light
Gracias ! !
Title should be ,putting a CLOCK MODULE ON A BROKEN HDD
Ottimo progetto, molto bello e pratico.
Very hard and clean work. Nice video sir ji.
So thats called HDD overCLOCKING
Great idea. You are so talented. I'm impressed bro... 💖🙏 Love from India.
Hi, so much intelligence invested in a technological product to end up in clepsydra ...😝
Yeah but it was worthless anyway.
I LOVED YOUR VACUUM CLEANER! How did you do it? Does it suck up liquids well?
Parabéns ! Ótimo trabalho !!
Very nice! Very creative! A great project to work on during some of those cold winter nights. I’ll do this. Thank you.
Lol, you can’t read the time in the dark, you also need illuminated hands!
Great job 👍👍👍
Can you illuminate the hands somehow so it can be readable during the night?
*Actually there is a problem. When dark I can't see the TIME*
Need to know the time, if its dark ? ☺✌
@@Varimos 😂😂😂
@@Raymond_Royce ya, put glowable paint on the pointer - solvet its very cheap.
@@Varimos nice idea...
Really awesome creative work with tools and technique.
I expect reuse the hard drive buildin stepping motor. Somehow it isn't.
There is no stepping motor in HDD. There is 3 phase brushless motor.
Unique thinking and awesome finishing. 💯
Sensacional, projeto muito lindo adorei, vou fazer pra mim!
loved it bro i am also finding some ideas for waste hd and i am going to make not a clock i am going to make an compartment box from my hd i show you when finished.loved your creativity.
it's a bit complicated to read the time on this clock, since the large indicator indicates the hour and the small one indicates the minutes... but all in all, the idea is brilliant, and the effort is applauded!
I don't see the need for an HDD or an Arduino nano at all. Use a CD for the clock face, do the drilling, mount led lights etc and build a case from wood, metal or plastic. Use led lights that come with a color and pattern changing controller instead of wasting a nano on this.
Very nice. How much would it cost me for u to make me one or use one of my old hard drives if i send it out to u
don't throw if it's full of porn and your personal data 😂

Perfect! But you need lights at clock hands.
What would be cool would be to program it so that every hour you get a new LED color. Great video what computer program did you use to make the design for the clock face? Photoshop?
very creative but the difference in the weight of the new arms from the original ones will have an effect on the clock accuracy for sure.
That vacuum cleaner was ShowOFF 😂😂
The clock hands if painted with glowing paint...like green...could make them visible in the dark

very nice. instead of using a battery to the clock. couldnt it be driven by the powerplug u use for the arduino?
Lights in the hands of the clock looks better at night. Btw 👍 Good Job.
Very nice. where to find ur red screwdriver set?
Very nice job!!! I will have to see if I can make one!!!

Nice job, but you should put LED on the Clockwise, because it looks like can't see the Clockwise in dark
