  • The beige trend isn't going anywhere but it is BORING! You don't need to decorate everything in beige in order to create a luxurious environment in your home. In this video I create a harmonious, colourful and timeless living room concept that doesn't look campy.

I loved the personality and life you created. Where can I find the mulberry/pink lamp you showed at the end? Thanks!

I love doing mood boards like this, too. It’s a great way to put everything together.

Loved the room! It was helpful to watch the process of putting a room together. I am currently renovating and redecorating my home and am trying to find the right balance between color and neutral. I love having fun with color but am so afraid to regret a purchase, but then run the risk of a boring home that does not show personality. I’ve enjoyed both of your videos

If your walls are neutral white to warm white, colours in your rug, upholstered furniture and wall art won't be overpowering. The trick is to pick 2 or 3 accent colours and repeat the colour in different tones/shades in the space. It gives rhythm and cohesion which gives visual balance.

As someone living in Europe, I must thank you for the ideas and online shops you mentioned. It would be fantastic if we could have a similar video for Japandi style ( less colorful :))

I enjoy colour and my home has a range of colours. I describe your mood board as eclectic cosmopolitan which is extroverted expression, the brighter sibling palette compared to quiet luxury beige which is introverted energy.

I watched this video because I had just been forced to watch my office renovation project to have beige all over the project in helplessness. I now upgraded my dislike of beige color to despise beige

i kept falling into this beige trap and am so glad i stumbled across this video. i didnt know why i kept trying to go to the "natural, wood tone" but it just seemed so hard to match an furniture or look interesting without everyting literally look tan, yellow, light brown, etc. it was so nice to finally see what i was doing wrong! or well...not wrong, but just different.

I mix my wood tones from light oak, acacia and mango medium warm brown to dark walnut. The trick is to have different scales (sizes) of furniture.
      Wood is naturally beautiful.

@@mariastathopoulos744 thanks for hte tip!! i feel like that's where im going wrong..i keep just choosing light oak and it makes me feel like the whole place is "blah" instead of bright, modern, fresh and yet still classic? idk if that's even possible tho tbh.

@@orangejmoothies check out a round whitewashed coffee table with a wood top, wood pedestal side / drink tables.
You could find an upcycled white TV media unit / console table and switch out the hardware.
Your dining chairs don't need to match your dining table. If you have a timber table, choose light coloured (cream / white) upholstered dining chairs.
You could also get a sofa slip cover if your sofa is a gray.
These are contemporary furniture pieces that fit into Scandi, transitional and coastal interior designs.
      Happy hunting!

Not sure about light coming through a blue curtain. I'd like to see how that looks. I love the weighty look of wool curtains.

I think the examples you showed at the beginning are eclectic. Anytime you add orange, pink, gold, red, blue and green together it looks eclectic. I don't think there is anything wrong with eclectic style, my home is, but maybe you think poorly with the word?

    • @mariastathopoulos744
      @mariastathopoulos744 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

Eclectic comes from the Greek word 'eklektikos', which means, to take the best of.
My home has colour and l describe it as eclectic. I mix wood tones and metals, furniture pieces that are Scandi, MCM, contemporary and vintage together. It works because my walls are a warm white, flooring is a mid brown and rug is light beige.
My 2 and 3 seater leather sofas are a muted blue, armchair is suede charcoal, accent chair has a black frame with a botanical pattern in range of blues.
My coffee table is light oak, side tables in mid brown mango wood and my TV unit is upcycled painted in black with antique brass knobs.
My wall art has blue and green.
I switch out my sofa throw blankets, cushions and lampshade seasonally.
In summer its blue and white, autumn is burnt orange, reds, caramel. Winter is brown and navy blue. Spring is cream and greens.
My home is not quiet luxury or sophisticated in the classical sense.
It is inviting, comfortable and personalised. For me it is cosmopolitan.
