    Just a foot note for anyone watching...After competing in the Scale Nationals and narrowly getting away without an engine loss, the next flight at the patch was another dead-stick...which was my cut off point for going back to glow. So I converted the Saito 182 back to its orginal glow configuration, ditching about 500g of ignition parts, and adding two glow ignitor points in the cockpit (build log on RCScaleBuilder.com - arf makeovers), and also a system of baffling for the engine and flew last November. The difference was like night and day! Totally difference engine. Solid, stronger running with no hint of cutting out... Am currently adding a new set of oleos and scaling up the wheel pants at the same time, and should be flying again this spring...and when I do will make another video with some landings on the runway for a change!

    Then, I have never used the FA-120R. I would respect your commitment to the FA-182TD.
    And I saw your flight and thought . . .
    I would move the center of gravity a little further back for slow flight.

      mmm interesting thought...I have always ran a mile from 'tail heavy'...however, worth checking once again the centre of gravity just to make sure she is not at all nose heavy...

      Oh really! Please excuse my rudeness.
      Is it because of the high wing loading ? ?

    • @michaelhalliday2708
      @michaelhalliday2708  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sassyrc1901 Yes, I think the wing loading was a little high...hence my description " fast/heavy" This due to my choosing an engine a little too powerful for the model (normally 20cc 4 stroke) with the petrol conversion and the mounting I made for the 182 - 12mm ply box - and the undercarriage I added... So in going back to glow, I will loose the ignition set up so about 300g lighter...which I am hoping will make a difference with the wing loading...so if you thought the model flew a bit too fast, then that is the reason why...I am hoping I can improve a bit by going back to glow with the 182...after that it will be a case of putting a smaller engine into the model...as the makers intended (eg O.S. FS-1.20S-E 4-stroke - 20cc).

      Hi there Sassy, Ive just published a video of my Waco YMF5 with its saito twin running on glow as God intended! Not wonderful flying I am afraid, but good to see the Saito now running well and reliably! Let me know what you think...I took out some weight by loosing the petrol electronics and put some lighter wheels...has helped the c of g I think...she now flies and lands quite nicely...
