Iliopsoas Test

The patient raises the lower extremity 30 cm off the table. The patient resists as the clinician applies a downward pressure at the distal thigh. A positive test, indicated if pain is reproduced in the lower quadrant, is a sign of possible peritoneal inflammation, appendicitis, or inflammation of the iliopsoas muscle.
