Why don't they just have a huge hangar with soap & water jets going full blast. That way the plane won't have to waste so much time sitting still...it can do a "flyby" and come out clean...after takeoff. Then...there would be no need to dry it!
blast water at your dirty car and then drive around. then youll see why an aircraft has to be washed and cleaned. i clean aircraft for a living 22 years. cars and planes are no different.

Cleaning would typically coincide with major service intervals so the aircraft would be out of service anyway.
