I love this song...hearing the guitar get louder to block out the train, it reminds me of the one time I was standing right next to the rails of one driving by. The train flying by...ground shaking..the loudness of the horn and metal clanking... At that time I was seriously in a dark place...I had to force myself to back up, I had to hold myself back so I didn’t jump infront of it. I played it off, said it scared me, and it does, but doesn’t. It’s scary hearing it coming, but it’s what comes after it, that’s comforting. I remember going home that night. Thinking if I made the right choice not jumping infront of it, and I did... I really did cause tho where I am is still a wreck, it’s the best I’ve felt in years. For anyone who is reading this. I know everyone says this, but genuinely, it gets better, it always does. Tho life may be hard, you need to be harder on it, and do what you wanna do, be who you wanna be. It’s just Wilbur expressing his distaste for London as a city and how there’s not much that can be changed about it. Arguably the entire album is a way for Wilbur to express his feelings about London, but this song makes it clear. “Wasting your time, you’re wasting mine” - Saying that being in London wasn’t a good use of his life to do the things he wanted to “Your city gave me asthma” - Album title, likely refers to the bad air pollution London has that actually (iirc) gave Will breathing problems “Your water gave me cancer” - Self explanatory, the tap water there is probably not treated well “Shout at the wall, cuz the walls don’t love you” - Expressing a mutual hatred, could also mean that no matter what Will does to try to change his view of London it won’t change “There’s a reason that London puts barriers on the tube line” - London is really dreary most days decreasing the overall mood of the town and it drives some to s**c*de by train / by h*nging themselves above the tracks as a way to signal to incoming tourists that the city is bad; the city officials put barriers on the rails to prevent this from happening, but as Will states at the end, people will nonetheless get past them and do what they came to do Hope that helped

It’s just Wilbur expressing his distaste for London as a city and how there’s not much that can be changed about it. Arguably the entire album is a way for Wilbur to express his feelings about London, but this song makes it clear.
“Wasting your time, you’re wasting mine” - Saying that being in London wasn’t a good use of his life to do the things he wanted to
“Your city gave me asthma” - Album title, likely refers to the bad air pollution London has that actually (iirc) gave Will breathing problems
“Your water gave me cancer” - Self explanatory, the tap water there is probably not treated well
“Shout at the wall, cuz the walls don’t love you” - Expressing a mutual hatred, could also mean that no matter what Will does to try to change his view of London it won’t change
“There’s a reason that London puts barriers on the tube line” - London is really dreary most days decreasing the overall mood of the town and it drives some to s**c*de by train / by h*nging themselves above the tracks as a way to signal to incoming tourists that the city is bad; the city officials put barriers on the rails to prevent this from happening, but as Will states at the end, people will nonetheless get past them and do what they came to do
