this is really cool, I have a Yaesu FTDX-3000 and I have the hookups for the mu-tuners too, but for my panadapter I'm useing my IF our or the RX out RCA jacks on the back of my 3K . I wonder if your rig has an IF or RX output on it, it should work a bit better for you. - but any port in a storm. as the saying goes . I'm using Nooelec RTL-SDR V5 - with your RTL-SDR be careful that you're not feeding power out from your bias-T into your rig! if you have an IF or RX jack on your rig -give those a try - I know that on transmit or keydown, the radio shuts those ports off so it'll protect your SDR from popping. I'm glad to see a younger guy working with ham radio, I've been playing with radio for over 40 years, and started when I was 13 . my kids 29 years and 14 years have little interest in radio. so please keep on going. hope to work you on the bands someday! 73 de N3TGY

Hello there! Sadly my radio doesn’t have an IF out, and I don’t want to do a tap yet because I need to work on my soldering skills more. I’m pretty sure the Mu-tune shuts off when the radio keys. If not, it’s 30 bucks for a replacement SDR! On another note, I agree completely that we need more young hams. I’d love to talk to my high school friends on the radio, but most of them do not have any interest. But for those who do, my school has a ham club, so in that sense I hope we can carry on the hobby for many many years. Thanks for stopping by my channel! 73 WW3H

@ww3h also I wanted to give you a heads up to just use caution that your bias tee power doesn't feed voltage into your rigs receiver as well. Just take care is all. It's great seeing youth take interest in a fantastic hobby/service. Stick with it! Your friends might just decide to try it out. Sorry I wasn't clear on my first message. Have fun! These SDR's are really cool, tons of avenues to try out. I'm using an ( ham it up) upconverter with mine, but going through the radio receiver I don't think I need it- prob. Need it for running SDR on its own. My rig's receiver is down conversion to 9 MHz. SDRs are all new to old crows like me LOL. 73 !

Yeah I'm looking to get back into radio (I got my license almost exactly 10 years ago) and I'm doing this setup right now. Definitely would be interested in your video on how you're controlling the radio through the SDR software

You never added the parts you said would be in the description. Could you add that information?
    Thanks

Right my apologies! I’ll have them listed by the end of today. I have to go volunteer at hamfest right now so I’ll get back to you :)

How is that isolating the sdr when you transmit. I used the method before but only for listening. There is a way to do it where you can listen to the sdr without the radio on if I remember correctly

As far as I know the tuning jacks are for an external tuner, which is very expensive and can’t handle massive wattage. You could always use an RF SENSE switch for this purpose but they’re quite expensive so I recommend this method :)
