my advice for teaching yourself is to learn beginner songs with simple chord progressions that you enjoy. It’s important to do things you enjoy because I found this is how I was able to keep my desire and was able to get decent (at the uke tho). Once you’ve got some chords you know by heart and your strumming down, you can learn more ✨advanced guitar things✨. But def look up tutorials on things like how to hold the guitar properly, strumming with a pick and other basics that you should have right before you develop bad habits lol. This is coming from personal experience trying to learn guitar, research, and advice from my friend who has years of self taught experience. I wish you all the luck!

quick tip: if u wanna keep practicing but ur finger tips hurt too much, you can put a swipe of superglue (or nail glue!) on them to give you a little extra protection. it does take until the next day to come off though, so take that into consideration haha. that's so cool you're getting into some new stuff! personally I've been a bassist since primary school but only in the past two years have I been on and off practicing guitar. also, you won't be able to avoid bar chords forever!! believe me I tried :(

Hii, if you are learning how to play guitar just as a hobby I recommend that you don't learn music theory for now because it's pretty difficult, I think just learning the songs is a great way to start :))
I am a self taught guitarist and I am pretty good at it now so here's my advice !! Start off learning very basic chords and strumming/rhythms, play along with songs to make it easier. When you feel comfortable with the chords and strumming, naturally you'll find it easier to change chord positions. From then my only advice is just to learn the songs you love to motivate you to play - I never learnt the proper technique or anything like that but just got naturally better by learning Radiohead and shit because that's music I actually like. As for the theory part of guitar - I'm still pretty bad at that but again once you play for a while you kind of get the hang of theory, figuring out chords, scales, etc. And thankfully guitar tab is really easy to read so that's a big bonus. Marty music is the absolute goat of guitar and loadssss of self taught guitarists learn from him on youtube LOL so just give his channel a little peruse. That's my advice x

you should do some exercises to better your chord progressions and then learn more songs (hopefully with easy chords) to learn more strumming patterns!
Practice slow 60 bpm quarter note (app on phone or youtube). Play a chord 4 times, then new chord, next chord, play chord progression 10 times. Learn G scale slowly, when you learn the scale, play backward. Then try jumping around to make your own tune.
