People like David Eby don't understand that you need economic growth to reduce the debt, and that doesn't happen by just increasing the size of government.
Fastest growing GDP. Is that just the immigration. 🇨🇦 is struggling with inflation and unemployment as well as drug problems. No back bone and poor policy.
And now I leave..........soft soaping this excuse of a politician is unacceptable. You are supposed to call him out for the lies, and poor decisions made.
What a wonderful man . I met him today and was so impressed. He cares about people in BC . He is so intelligent and knows how to run this province . Compared to his opponent he is way ahead of those who only want to help line the pockets of those who are causing the inflation and high prices. Vote NDP.
Eby says private health care creates competition between the private and public sectors, which increases taxpayers' costs. Competition typically creates lower costs because organizations have to become more efficient to compete and justify their existence. If his comments are true, then everything should be government-run. Mr. Eby is well-spoken and seems very empathetic to understanding people's needs. If we believe in socialism, he is the right man for the job as he has clearly articulated his agenda to this listener. I appreciate having had the opportunity to hear this first hand.
private health care will have higher malpractice insurance for doctors. right now 50% of medical is private, all health labs are private, they bill state not you. private will bill you- so your medical cost will triple.
A vote for the provincial NDP is a vote for federal party. They are one party by structure and ethos. Why would you not address this obvious fact - especially given the weakness of the federal NDP.
BC NDP is basically centre-left. BC Liberals was centre-right. Everyone who knows BC politics knows that. BC NDP is more similar to federal Liberals. BC Liberals was more equivalent of Federal Conservatives. It's a function of only having 2 main parties in BC. Federal NDP is more left of BC counterpart
Provincial NDP under EBY nothing like fed NDP . One thing people forget about BC is the government is the biggest employer. the port authority in Vancouver is worth billions and huge paying jobs. Teachers, hospital workers, doctors, nurses, fed workers, provincial workers. BC conservative ( socreds, ( social credit) ( liberals) governments loose every time fighting unions!
Eby has been a huge disappointment to me thus far. I am a swing voter and have gone BC Liberal and BC NDP about equally over the years. I was a huge fan of John Horgan and felt he showed balance and good judgement. Here is a list of differences between Horgan and Eby: 1. Horgan ran surpluses. As soon as Eby took over he blew through the surplus and is running huge deficits. 2. Eby NEVER misses an opportunity to whine and bleat about the federal government. I can point to four different cases where he has cried like a baby about Ottawa. Campbell, Clark and Horgan worked well with the federal government and almost never resorted to public displays of bellyaching. I felt that BC prospered over the past 25 years because we let go of the victimized, anti-Eastern mentality that reigns in Alberta. To me Eby is going backwards. 3. Eby's statement last week that he would eliminate the carbon rebate and tax programme if the federal government rids the country of a national policy was a major shock and a brutal disappointment to folks like me who think we need to demonstrate leadership and take action to reduce our carbon footprint. Horgan would never have shown such weakness. It was Gordon Campbell who introduced the BC carbon tax. And he took three parallel measures: a). He reduced personal income taxes to the lowest in Canada. BC still today has the lowest tax rates except for the highest wage earners. b). He lowered small business taxes. British Columbia's small business tax rates are still the lowest in Canada. c). The carbon rebate programme targeted low-income families earning less than $107,000 per annum. So when Rustad and now Eby say they want to get rid of the carbon tax, what will they do to fill the $2.6B hole in the provincial budget? Will they restore the small business, personal income taxes to the levels they were at before? Or cut services? And what is our plan to incentivize people to reduce carbon emissions? Or are they saying no plan is okay. The carbon rebate and tax programme is left pocket/right pocket debate: use more carbon and you come out behind, reduce carbon and you'll come out ahead. The fact that both major party leaders are willing to abandon an effective, revenue neutral tool leaves voters like me searching for a new home. John Horgan would never have taken such a chicken-sh*t position on the carbon tax. I miss him. I can't support Rustad - I think the guy is a total freak. I'm hoping a centrist candidate emerges in my riding so I don't have to vote for Eby.

The BC Liberal party was a merger of the right, social credit was pre exiting right wing government. again right wings cant work together, Rustad will have free will, and support riding ! great idea until its not. what is happening in Alberta right now with anti vaxing laws. I find it hard to believe that the budget will be balanced in a term.

Informative and interesting!
Very well done episode, an interesting and enlightening listen
Great episode!
Great job! Interviews like this add so much to our political discourse: long form with tough questions but still good-natured.
From a government who pushed through taking our medical privacy away please leave and take Bonnie with you
move to Alberta- they are waiting for you. they just put in anti vaxing laws and superseded the medical health officer.

Ask him if he would give free drugs to his children if they were addicts, and if he would just watch them harm themselves.

Nice work. Will you be having John Rusted on again, too?
He's been invited on but John's campaign team have not committed to a date/time.
@@fatbroker great 👍
David Eby has no intention of balancing the budget.
Eby has no understanding of basic economics. Sticking with his ideology rather than doing what is right.
He is a socialist
What about BCFSA staff fraud?
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't vote for these doorknobs. Anything else. I'd vote for a toaster if it meant getting these muppets out of power.

Who is even thinking voting NDP liberals ????😅 Pure madness

He's wonderful if you want a radical leftist in charge of the province. His solution is to tax and spend.
Who is paying you 🤣😂
