Really interested to know if anyone in here is aware of the accident at Narborough in around 1970, when a freight train derailed and took out the base of the signal box, then rode up onto Platform 1 before coming to rest? There really isn't any record of it, but if you look closely at the brickwork on the roadside end and rail facing side of Narborough SB it's fairly clear that something went on. Possibly related to the pointwork that was about 200 yds west of the station and served the spur towards Enderby for the mineral traffic that no longer exists and is called Whistle Way these days.
