    Remember, RCT1 has NO ATMs available, and a lot of its goals are guest oriented, so it might be worth it to having them spend their money gradually, rather than all at once, unless you have a ride that can Despawn them without crashing (maze deleter), in which case, rake in the moolah.

      As an adult in RTC, I balance this by charging as much as possible first to re-invest the money and make everything near free in the last (half) year to make the guest count spike if I'm not well over my target. TBH I still do think that charging for both entry and rides was the best way of making money in RCT1 classic. I find there's a significant difference in OpenRCT2 in how much the guests are willing to pay for flat rides if they payed park entrance, making it pretty much worthless to have a park entrance fee, but in RCT1 with the speed at which you hit the maximum people carry on them, if you set your park entrance fee to the minimum amount guests spawn with, you can get all the guests and also slowly chip at the last $30 or so that the guests with the highest amount of money have. And because ride aging does eventually bottom out the ticket price of flat rides, and because some of the rides eventually end up as really cheap or free, you still have your guests sticking around the park for a bit.

  • @larsdahl5528

    A trick I used:
    As the guests view at the entrance fee is only calculated once pr. month, I set the entrance fee down to zero (Free entrance) on the last day of the month.
    And when it becomes the first of the next month I raise the price to what the poorest guests have in their pocket when arriving!
    Thus getting the best park value award (attracting more guests!) while they still pay maximum money to enter. (Except for a few guests who gets in for free at the turn of the month.)

I see people always preferring "charge for rides" and I always wonder what the hell they're smoking because I always struggle to get income for "charge for rides" because of those guests who enter my park and then leave without paying a cent because the AI in RCT is so bad. On the other hand, "charge for park" means that I can always just keep on spamming marketing schemes and get an immediate return on investment, making acquiring guests and maintaining my financial account a breeze.

    On that note, a question. I'm playing via OpenRCT2, and I've been having a blast - but something that's proving to be a consistent nuisance is my staff. No matter how I try to set up my handymen's patrol areas, they're quite poor at actually keeping the paths clean. It's often gotten to the point where I've just had the staff menu open and manually dragged and dropped one guy around to clean everything up.
    What's the limit to how much area a single handyman can cover before you start running into issues? Is there some sort of pathfinding issue in OpenRCT2 specifically that causes staff to have issues? Does marking non-path tiles in patrol areas slow handymen down, even if they're not tagged to mow the grass?

    A park where you only pay for rides
    A park where you pay to enter and to ride the ride

    Hmm, speaking of Park Entry fee i wonder: what would happen if you dropped Guests inside your Park to the Path leading to the Park, like via Death Maze at the Border/above the non-owned Path? (both with and without entry fee)
    Would the Guests leave the Park? Walk back in? possibly pay the entry fee twice?

    Hello, Marcel! I have a question: What if you make all of your rides free? I always used to do this when playing RCT and found it to be a decent strategy because I would make the park entry fee around $60 more or less

  • @Jezzaaa3
    @Jezzaaa3 ปีที่แล้ว

    hey Marcel, I have a question relating to this video; You name prices for the rides, but how do we know what the price the guests are willing to pay for each ride? if the park is entry fee only, the rides are always free and thus, how do we figure out what they would be 'willing' too pay, as the price is set 'free'
    Sorry if this doesnt make sense, but I think I always under charge around €35/40 as that way all guests can come in. I play OPEnrct2

    • @MarcelVos
      @MarcelVos  ปีที่แล้ว

      You just estimate. My rule of thumb is 10 per coaster and 3 per flat ride. It gets you to the maximum you should charge (minimum they spawn with) very quickly and rarely overcharges.

      Only if they paid for the park entry. You can always charge for the entrance but if you make it free they'll pay full price for the rides.
