Subbed and liked. Hey My Music. Most of my songs I have professionally recorded are in the country music vein. Is there any market for that in TV and film, or just way less than rock, hip hop etc? Thanks in advance for your reply!
You have to be professional just like the people that want to buy your music. One tune on a commercial can catapult your career. Appreciate the advice its worth its weight in gold.
I’m glad I found your channel I have made a goal for myself this year to finally do something with my music. So it looks like there are several things I need to work on before starting. I need to get to work so I can make this happen this year. Thanks Jesse for all this valuable information your providing!! People not familiar with this business really have no idea where to start, but your really making it much easier to understand. Thank you!
New Era I ended up releasing an album featuring my original music. I don’t think sync is right for me. I like the freedom of creating what I want and when I want. My creativity is sparked by the ability to just sit down and write and not have someone else’s schedule or restrictions hanging over my head.
I wish you would make a video on the difference between film composing and music placement for a film for instance and working with a film composer as far as placing/licensing your music, in other words source cues etc...
I would imagine if you can make license able music, the standards applied here can roll over to label submissions and or independent music releases (for quality music products)
Jesse, thanks for this info. I am literally using this as a checklist with my tracks to get them where they need to be. looking forward to Sync Academy, I think this would benefit me at the stage that I am at.
Jesse, it's your focus and efficient articulation of how the business works that I appreciate. Just the right amount of critical, and no fluff. Thanks for doing this!
Hi! New to your channel! Quick question, on average how long should a track be when you're submitting? Are you asked to resubmit tracks if they are too long or short?
Welcome! Usually you'll be requested to make tracks between 2 and 3 minutes long and yes they will ask you to change a track if it's too short or long.
Great video, thank you! When you're talking about slow and dreamy tracks you mean like «ballad»-styled tracks or absolutely anything slow? I'm asking because I love to make atmospheric dark slow music, like «Nightmare On The Elm Street» movies OST.
Pretty much anything slow - there's just not that much of a need for it. And if you want to do this full-time, you'll have to make the MOST licensable tracks you can.
Thank you for the information. Question tho, I love making music for fun but also I don't mind getting some money on it. Is it possible to just write music on your own time without “working for them”?
With dynamics automation you can kinda get off that repetetiveness . Like with string music, even if it's repetetive you can hear the movement. Any thoughts?
Sweet Jesse thanks for the info! Always love watching you’re vids. I checked out the early access videos as well good stuff. How much will it cost to sign up? Don’t think I seen that anywhere.
Hey Jesse! Will music libraries accept compositions with samples from Splice? Or does it make things harder for them to clear your works? splice states its samples are pre-cleared and royalty free! thanks!
Individual hits should be ok but using a loop leaves you open to someone else using the same loop then claiming you stole it from them. Aren't copyright strikes a big enough problem here already?
hey Jesse, I guess I can make some good licensable music, in fact, I really try to take your tips and tricks to heart but what's your opinion on song length. are there licensable track duration or is everything licensable as long as it's proper licensable music. most of my songs I prepare rn to send out to libraries are around 1:30 - 2:30? greetings p.
A little confused on the dreamy thing. Why wouldn't slower tracks be licensable? I would have thought different moods, such as melancholy, would be a useful skill to be able to create- as so many different emotions are portrayed in different media.
Slower, dreamy track CAN get placed, but MOST placements on TV are mid to uptempo tracks. Just turn on your TV and notice the tempos of the tracks getting placed - most TV shows want to promote energy, positivity, tension, conflict, etc.
Hi Jesse - I’ve been a member of the Syndicate for about seven months now. What is the difference between Sync Academy and the Syndicate? Also, am I allowed to make music submissions that you are referring to here? And if so, could you please provide a link or direction for that?
You have free access to the Sync Academy with your Syndicate membership. The Syndicate is still the only place where I offer feedback on member's tracks and licensing opportunities. And yes anyone who's subscribed to my TH-cam channel can submit to this contest!
yikes, my music is looping and super repetitious in a tangerine dream/ phillip glass kind of way, fades out at end with no definite ending, is very dreamy and sometimes slow, intros are long with no attention grabbing intro, I use many layers of instruments, no specific genre and is mixed and mastered at home .....wow!! I think i covered all the bases of what not to do and worse because theway I create the music there is no way for me to change it lol 8-( By the way, I can t disagree with you until I have as many placements as you.I do not.

Does Orchestral mean "classical music"? Is there an opportunity for classical trained musicians, too?

Sync My Music well I’m glad I stumbled on to this. Thanks for putting this stuff out there
Can you have the same song/track in multiple libraries?
Yes, you can but you as the artist would have to rename it.
Great video, thank you! When you're talking about slow and dreamy tracks you mean like «ballad»-styled tracks or absolutely anything slow? I'm asking because I love to make atmospheric dark slow music, like «Nightmare On The Elm Street» movies OST.

Certainly, but if you want to really thrive in this industry I would recommend you create consistently.

I'll reveal those details when I release the platform on January 2nd. But I can assure you it's VERY affordable.
Awesome!
Thanks Jesse!

2-3 Minutes has been the standard requirement I've found in my career. Every Library will have their own though 👍
