Yeah this sounds more suited for habits and contradictions; the album version fit conceptually with the album and his lifestyle on the Gangsta side of Hoover Street. Habits and contradictions showed the pumpin side and that’s why the soul feel of the album fit perfectly
I prefer this version over the album version but this one has more of a 90's feel. The version on the album has more of a modern sound which is why I would understand holding this one from the album.
This is the version I've always loved... not the one that I found on oxymoron, but man this the era I grew up on. Early to mid 2010s was like the early 90s and TDE was the hardest out, followed by Pro Era and the Asap Mobb, Clearsoul Forces if I'm not mistaken, and Nispey Hussle's Crenshaw and Slauson , and a lil bit later, around 2014, the brother Dave East came in shredding ish, as well as Talib Kweli who is already an established legend and my brother Stalley with his phenomenal Ohio album. A year later TPAB, B4DA$$, Forest Hill Drive, ONYX if I'm not mistaken, Rapsody, Asap Rocky, Jay Rock completely shook me. And then Fly Anakin and his Mutant Academy went brazy. Man since I've lived the culture of rappers destroying ish lyrically and our outfits being similar to the 90s, I am not really feeling the new wave and especially the BET Freestyles because I've witnessed the 2000s and the early to mid 10s, and I'm not even 27 yo... 🇿🇦
This would've been fire as a standalone single(lead song, to prep the path for the lead singles), but this song would've stuck out like a sore thumb on the album that ended up getting released. Hoover Street on the album was pitch perfect.
this beat is great but you all don't understand that the beat didn't fit the oxymoron album concept. this beat is more reflective while the album version is dark/gangsta which was what oxymoron was about
This is fire, but Sounwave really did his thing with recreating the first half of the track...I wish they could've married Sounwave's first half with this beat switch
hell no...this beat was made purposefully for Q and this track Alchemist knows how to push the best out of this amazing rappers...Prodigy had many opportunities, alchemist isn't about Prodigy because he did it multiple times before, and Havoc is kinda of lame, Havoc woulda just ruin the crazy beats Alchemist makes.
Lol!!! What. A. Bozo. I said that prodigy SHOULD HAVE BEEN on this beat. Fucking bozo 🤡. Crazy shit is there were six other bums that misunderstood with you. 😂
This is one of the best collaborations ever. Schoolboy & Alchemist can not miss.
i wish alchemist remixed he whole album
**adrenaline gets triggered for a second**
Would be crazy
This beat is better in a way but the gritty dirty Oxymoron version really fit the lyrics and the way Q rapped it
I really like this beat but I agree with you, the beat is too clean and relaxing compared to the lyrics. Yet, Mobb Deep use to rap to shit like this.
exactly. on the album version beat itself sets the hoover street mood. this one is suprisingly uplifting.
Yeah this sounds more suited for habits and contradictions; the album version fit conceptually with the album and his lifestyle on the Gangsta side of Hoover Street. Habits and contradictions showed the pumpin side and that’s why the soul feel of the album fit perfectly
Sheesh...Schoolboy Q and Alchemist a nice duo when they link.
Damn sample clearances, this version should have been on the album
What was the sample?
@@totc6196 www.whosampled.com/sample/461669/ScHoolboy-Q-Hoover-Street-(Original-Version)-Spheroe-Chattanooga/
@@totc6196 it’s by Spheroe and the song is “Chattanooga”
This was the better version but the album version flowed with the project better
Had to get this on 45. Got to thank Alchemist for unveiling this sick original version.
whenever i hear an Alchemist beat I SWEAR it makes me wanna cook up! Q bodies this too!
yo me 2
The second half is such a vibe .
there's a 90's feel to this, it should've been the version on the album
+Victor Rodrigues it's Alchemist.
Yea but its not as Dirty and Gritty as Sounwaves version, and nobody loves dirty gritty beats more than Q, well maybe Vince Staples
+SupremeScopaz alchemist >
+Jacob Austin im in love with both versions but i agree this one is a bit better and would've the gave the album a more classic gangsta feel
+Victor Rodrigues It got cut b/c the sample didn't get cleared :(
dat beat switch at 1:45 tho 👌🔥

Yes. And oddly enough, this beat would fit very well for Blank Face LP which used a lot more live instruments in the production.
ablougabla since you say that, first beat on Kno Ya Wrong kinda sound like this lol
@@mfscarce6740 that’s because Alchemist produced that too, for what it’s worth 4 years later lol
Long Live Steelo
Damn I like this version a lot more
This is so much better than the album version.
Been lookin for this version for so long
this is THE version. thanks alc ♥
both versions are masterpieces
This version is way raw than the oxymoron version...grimmy beat !!!
i wanna be alc for a day......
DAAAAAAMN! This is amazing!!
Shoulda kept this on the final cut!
they couldn't clear the samples so they had to make a different beat I think
Both versions are great.
That first minute hard as fuck schoolboy q tell em

SO much better than album vrs. Alchemist is the best producer ever.
he's not better than J dilla & Madlib, but he's the 3rd best producer ever.

+Triple D Tapes tyhe sample didnt get cleared thats why it wasnt on the album
the sample wasn't cleared stop trying to make it bigger than it is
appetite for destruction 😂😂
This definitely gangsta ...
Beat sounds like heroin, addiction, pain and a fast life, it would've fit
what a beat does anyone know the sample when the beat switches over mid song???????????
Soooo Good! ALC!
This shit so LA its disgusting😭🔥🔥🔥
Hip hop perfection
This is fire, but Sounwave really did his thing with recreating the first half of the track...I wish they could've married Sounwave's first half with this beat switch
This track should've been on the disc instead of the other version..
This got that psychedelic sound to it💯 the album version man straight mid. But the lil drum break during the intro on both versions go hard asf
🔥🔥🔥
Something's about this give me MF DOOM vibes
Super dope...👍🏿
Dope 🧁🍰

this is great
I like this.
oh my too hot

How’d it be a real nigga
This shit goes hard
What was this on oxy??
still called "Hoover Street" but it uses Sounwave beat instead (the dark gritty one).
wayyy better
This is crazy but I like the album version better

Cool production but the album version has a better feel to it.
lol....yeah....umm....no

this beat wasn't aggressive enough
Oxymorphone It is really eery though.
it wouldnt of fit in the album good
that's a lie the sample wasn't cleared that's why itb
wasn't on there.
you're right...that's EXACTLY why Prodigy & Havoc should have been on this shit!!!
