The tides are happening as a result of the Deepwoken world's industrial revolution where everybody started spamming the song. So you're pretty much correct, capitalism fucked everything up, just in a different way. Finally, the Deepwoken world definitely was not our own considering the shape of the plane it exists in. There's no space or planets, the world just loops back in on itself. Theoretically, If you sail in one direction long enough, you'd end up in the heavens, which aren't actually another realm but part of the same physical space. The voidsea and voidfog prevent this from happening, however. Regardless, that's why going above the heavens still sends you to the Depths, as the Depths wrap around the world like a bubble, slowly growing inward, shrinking the available space and in the process causing the tides to rise.

Akira boss fight concept: You get to fight him by choosing the charisma option WITHOUT having 100 charisma and interrupting his bell before he can use it. He'll say - "Did you just interrupt my reasonance?" And the fight will begin. Here's his stats: Health: 50 Weapon: Katana, but it'll break on the first swing and will resort to Way of Navae. Damage: 0.5% of his HP per swing. Execution: Akira will already be tired and get automatically knocked if you're at low health. Knocking him will give you two options. Spare or Kill. "1. Just what i expected from a fraud like you, go back to the overworld and never come back. (Leave)" "2.(Kill)" When you spare him, he'll be at Isle of Vigils and when you talk to him he'll say - "You're right, i was a fraud." You have one option: "1. Glad to see you NOT being a fraud, it gives a tear to my eye." He'll then say - "Heh, thanks. I may come back to the Depths once the good Maestro here trains me, then i won't be a fraud and actually fight without my bell." All sources used in explanation: Studies on Canticlysm XIV, Blindseer Writings, Contractor Dialogue Yun'shul claims that the city was 'offered up to them'. This lines up with the Lightkeeper Temple blindseer writings, claiming that in their time of need, Celtor took to the one dude promising them power and safety. What was their time of need? In Studies on Canticlysm XIV, it brings up the Songworker Revolution, which is where ancient Attunement Users who were in the lower classes were enslaved into constant magic usage to serve the greater people. Since scholars were all just guessing, the Songworkers became truly powerful due to their constant use and exposure to the Song and its magic. And thus, they indirectly overused the song during the revolution where they rose up and slaughtered each of their captors attempting to build a new empire through fire. Celtor, as you know, was a capital of trade and commerce. A bunch of wealthy people were obviously living there, and with all the magic slaves rising up they obviously started freaking out. So when a Ministry Prophet (most likely) showed up, claiming 'hey man, put me in charge i can protect you' they OBVIOUSLY took it, because the alternative was death. So the Ministry built the Citadel of Interstice, and used it as a ritual temple towards Yun'shul to offer the city up to the Celtorian Horror WHILE the tides rose around the world due to the songworker revolution. All of this information is ingame and does NOT rely on Rag or Arch loredumping in #general. The Ministry is quite literally pulling a Celtor Part 2 with Etrea, and using the same strategy may be the very thing that leads to the Ministry's downfall. NEVERMIND archmage just told me this is false because Celtor DIDN'T sink during the Canticlysm!!! AUGHFHGEHRFH

According to Agamatsu (who asked the devs), Lightkeeping isn't an actual attunement, and is more akin to a heavenly restriction. Klaris is a Dawnwalker that uses Radiant Tones in an attempt to mimic Lightkeeping.
The railblade DOES protect you from the parasites, if you do a run without railblade equipped you will start gaining parasites after 3 minutes. While i managed several time to get parasites only after arriving in front of Chaser (10~ minutes) with railblade equipped.
Dreadstar just seems like an entity that's fueled by powerful emotions like vengeance given he doesn't even appear until you get killed by an attunement user, he then only provides his power if your worthy, so what's likely happening is he feeds off your rage and pain from your revenge fueled slaughter, manipulating you behind the strings to further grow in his own strength, since when you kill all the trainers he becomes part of you.
At 2:20, I believe what the developers were trying to portray when creating the Ignition Union is something called a Workers Co-operative, basically a corporation/company that isn't managed by a "manager" per se in most cases, but rather by democratic vote and popular consensus, as compared to regular companies which comply to the will of share-holders, upper management, corporate, et cetera. But nobody is going to know that off of the top of their head unless they've worked in one or if they're a poli-sci/history major.

The reason Akira is at castle light to begin with is because he is waiting for his next assignment from the markor citadel, and he has confirmed that most of his work doesn't concern the first layer. the reason neither he or Klaris go down to kill chaser is because of the time loop that layer 2 has as chaser would just come back I think the main reason he doesn't kill us with his bell with the charisma dialog is because he either doesn't want to use his bell to kill us as he worries about the backlash or he just thinks we are an idiot and not worth his time. don't take this too badly i just wanted to fill in some parts that got left out

13:00 In some of the dreastar dialogue it refers to itself as “we” and “our”, I’m unsure if it means itself and the player but before the you join the dreadstar it still refers to itself as “we”, my personal theory is that they’re just a collection of verse 1 shattered katana attunement-less user’s souls brought into a husk drawn to it by they’re hate of the 1 thing they couldn’t do.
The issue with the argument about Chaser underutlizing his powers is that it could be said for literally anything. Why can't Frostdraw users freeze over the entire ocean? Why can't Flamecharm users burn down entire islands? Why can't Thundercall users insta-fry everyone's brains? Why can't Galebreathe users explode/implode everyone's lungs?

@@Reaconteur I also wanna mention that Yun'shul's bell rerolling apparently is only a game mechanic, and they don't actually have any control over bells. Resonances are described as "the power of the soul" awakening on the verge of true death. Additionally, despite the attunements being derived from a God, it is not necessarily the case that a Deepwoken founded each attunement. We know that attunement users drew from inspiration and the teachings of Deepwokens of a certain element to use that element. Which means it's also very much possible for the founder of an attunement to have simply drawn inspiration from a Drowned God to create mantras of that element. Pleeksty is the only confirmed Deepwoken that is also the founder of an attunement. It's very possible that the other attunements were founded by non-Deepwokens, much like Ironsing which was solely based off inspiration and innovation rather than by attaining power from a Drowned God.

Some things I know (relevant to this video) from occasionally lurking the Wiki for lore, someone correct me on anything I'm wrong about. -------------------------------------- I don't think Klaris is gatekeeping anything besides maybe light hook. All she's done is imitate the Radiant Tones which are a verse of the song which is only speculated to have been used by true lightkeepers and she uses it for combat, which she teaches us in the form of Dawnwalker. It wouldn't matter if Klaris went down there or sent Akira, the reason he's such a problem is cause down their in Layer 2 exist time dilation so he's stuck in a loop no matter how many times he's killed. It's why we're able to farm him. There isn't a drowned god for each attunement so their needing to be a deepwoken for each attunement isn't correct. Also means, humans creating ironsing and then being punished for that with the tides doesn't make sense. Also, the tides are aren't sentient, they're a natural disaster that is caused when a Drowned God is nearly woken up from their sleep. This is also how the drowning happened, mankind abused the song, were too loud and almost woke up the drowned gods, causing them to stir in their sleep, disturb the waves, and drown the old word, bringing upon us the Deepwoken world we play in now. Yun 'shul is the keeper of hearts, he manipulates the way your soul resonates with the song so it's pretty safe to assume he is not the Drowned God of shadow cast and neither is the first layer connected to that attunement, although he does acknowledge the ministry. There's only 9 layers of the depths, there's no double digit layers. While only speculation, I think it makes most sense that the Dreadstar is an amalgamation of souls wronged by the song. Which is why you yourself must have a hatred and seek revenge towards those who use the song to be able to take the silentheart oath. -------------------------------------- Deepwoken's lore, while confusing and all over the place and in no way is it presented to you on a silver platter, it at the very least doesn't suck. This shit is honestly very interesting to look into, had fun rereading over some stuff to be able to confirm and type all this out.
thundercall and frostdraw may have been created by celestials cause i think a dev said that not all attunments have drowned god for it and the navaen people use frostdraw so they may have learned it from the celestials but idk thats just my theory

Another thing is that some of deepwokens lore is tied into greek lore (ichor, references to greek gods in name selection etc) i have ae feeling they can do way more with that overall.
Navae is the protector/probably creator of ice and shadow which is why nomads use it, shadowcast is most likely related to the depths and thats why u dont see shadow nomads
1:40 im pretty sure the railblade is meant to be paired with the arcwarder suit, which is for protection agaisn't the eternal gale, im not sure but i think it even has a heater in to prevent the growing of parasites also, the railblade doesn't protect you from parasites ingame most likely for gameplay reasons, it would be a bit too op if for just wielding a weapon you'd be inmune to the parasites and could just chill in the eternal gale until the end of time
How would that be overpowered? We have literal save zones full of lanterns that remove all parasites, along with stopping parasite growth in general. Wielding a legendary (not traditionally legendary) weapon should grant a small upside such as that.

YUNSHUL IS NOT THE DROWNED GOD OF WATER, HE IS THE KEEPER OF HEARTS. This means he can control ur heart, if he awakes, everyones heartt is ripped out.This is how he changes your heart to reroll yourr stuff like flaws and vows.

The reasoning behind the ignition unions communist sorta ideals is due to them basically just being a workers union with no real concrete ranking system as the more you contribute the more stuff you get access to (In lore)
The lore is such a mess that I’d say the only “stable” lore we have is that Meatlord is agreed upon to be the most powerful character in the games universe. Hell, even this became debatable once Destroyman III was added (despite the fact that one of Destroyman’s quotes talk about how everyone, which likely includes himself, will be in mortal peril once Meatlord’s perception of meat is blurred and thus suggests even he fears Meatlord.)
Legendary weapons are unenchantable in lore in because they are “imbued” with an attunment, rail blade is imbued with an attunemnt, but in a different way, you funnel ether into and that ether is turned into an attunment, so there both Imbued with an attunment, except one is automated and artificial and the other isn’t, but the actual reason they can’t be enchanted is still the same
The ignition union being communist makes sense, as they are the most profitable people in deepwoken, and they have the assets to make communism work. (A good economy, consistent trade, hundreds of workers, and more then one field each worker can go into ie being a soldier, a miner, a scientist, or an engineer)

According to Agamatsu (who asked the devs), Lightkeeping isn't an actual attunement, and is more akin to a heavenly restriction. Klaris is a Dawnwalker that uses Radiant Tones in an attempt to mimic Lightkeeping.
Light keepers actually can’t use the regular song according to nimea, klaris is not a lightkeeper

The railblade DOES protect you from the parasites, if you do a run without railblade equipped you will start gaining parasites after 3 minutes. While i managed several time to get parasites only after arriving in front of Chaser (10~ minutes) with railblade equipped.

Dreadstar just seems like an entity that's fueled by powerful emotions like vengeance given he doesn't even appear until you get killed by an attunement user, he then only provides his power if your worthy, so what's likely happening is he feeds off your rage and pain from your revenge fueled slaughter, manipulating you behind the strings to further grow in his own strength, since when you kill all the trainers he becomes part of you.

At 2:20, I believe what the developers were trying to portray when creating the Ignition Union is something called a Workers Co-operative, basically a corporation/company that isn't managed by a "manager" per se in most cases, but rather by democratic vote and popular consensus, as compared to regular companies which comply to the will of share-holders, upper management, corporate, et cetera.
But nobody is going to know that off of the top of their head unless they've worked in one or if they're a poli-sci/history major.

I think the main reason he doesn't kill us with his bell with the charisma dialog is because he either doesn't want to use his bell to kill us as he worries about the backlash or he just thinks we are an idiot and not worth his time.

13:00 In some of the dreastar dialogue it refers to itself as “we” and “our”, I’m unsure if it means itself and the player but before the you join the dreadstar it still refers to itself as “we”, my personal theory is that they’re just a collection of verse 1 shattered katana attunement-less user’s souls brought into a husk drawn to it by they’re hate of the 1 thing they couldn’t do.

The issue with the argument about Chaser underutlizing his powers is that it could be said for literally anything. Why can't Frostdraw users freeze over the entire ocean? Why can't Flamecharm users burn down entire islands? Why can't Thundercall users insta-fry everyone's brains? Why can't Galebreathe users explode/implode everyone's lungs?

Additionally, despite the attunements being derived from a God, it is not necessarily the case that a Deepwoken founded each attunement. We know that attunement users drew from inspiration and the teachings of Deepwokens of a certain element to use that element. Which means it's also very much possible for the founder of an attunement to have simply drawn inspiration from a Drowned God to create mantras of that element. Pleeksty is the only confirmed Deepwoken that is also the founder of an attunement. It's very possible that the other attunements were founded by non-Deepwokens, much like Ironsing which was solely based off inspiration and innovation rather than by attaining power from a Drowned God.

I don't think Klaris is gatekeeping anything besides maybe light hook. All she's done is imitate the Radiant Tones which are a verse of the song which is only speculated to have been used by true lightkeepers and she uses it for combat, which she teaches us in the form of Dawnwalker.
It wouldn't matter if Klaris went down there or sent Akira, the reason he's such a problem is cause down their in Layer 2 exist time dilation so he's stuck in a loop no matter how many times he's killed. It's why we're able to farm him.
There isn't a drowned god for each attunement so their needing to be a deepwoken for each attunement isn't correct. Also means, humans creating ironsing and then being punished for that with the tides doesn't make sense.
Also, the tides are aren't sentient, they're a natural disaster that is caused when a Drowned God is nearly woken up from their sleep.
This is also how the drowning happened, mankind abused the song, were too loud and almost woke up the drowned gods, causing them to stir in their sleep, disturb the waves, and drown the old word, bringing upon us the Deepwoken world we play in now.
Yun 'shul is the keeper of hearts, he manipulates the way your soul resonates with the song so it's pretty safe to assume he is not the Drowned God of shadow cast and neither is the first layer connected to that attunement, although he does acknowledge the ministry.
There's only 9 layers of the depths, there's no double digit layers.
While only speculation, I think it makes most sense that the Dreadstar is an amalgamation of souls wronged by the song. Which is why you yourself must have a hatred and seek revenge towards those who use the song to be able to take the silentheart oath.

1:40 im pretty sure the railblade is meant to be paired with the arcwarder suit, which is for protection agaisn't the eternal gale, im not sure but i think it even has a heater in to prevent the growing of parasites
also, the railblade doesn't protect you from parasites ingame most likely for gameplay reasons, it would be a bit too op if for just wielding a weapon you'd be inmune to the parasites and could just chill in the eternal gale until the end of time
How would that be overpowered? We have literal save zones full of lanterns that remove all parasites, along with stopping parasite growth in general. Wielding a legendary (not traditionally legendary) weapon should grant a small upside such as that.

Yunshull could possibly be the drowned god of water... considering it has been said to make users go insane and lose their humanity, the first layer is under water and filled with sea creatures: jellyfishes, crabs, sharks, lionfishes... and the entire gimmick of the first layer is that you go insane, specifically when closer to the shrine of yunshull, so....
So frostdraw and flamecharm, since flamecharm would melt frostdraw into water.

The lore is such a mess that I’d say the only “stable” lore we have is that Meatlord is agreed upon to be the most powerful character in the games universe.
Hell, even this became debatable once Destroyman III was added (despite the fact that one of Destroyman’s quotes talk about how everyone, which likely includes himself, will be in mortal peril once Meatlord’s perception of meat is blurred and thus suggests even he fears Meatlord.)

Legendary weapons are unenchantable in lore in because they are “imbued” with an attunment, rail blade is imbued with an attunemnt, but in a different way, you funnel ether into and that ether is turned into an attunment, so there both Imbued with an attunment, except one is automated and artificial and the other isn’t, but the actual reason they can’t be enchanted is still the same
The ignition union being communist makes sense, as they are the most profitable people in deepwoken, and they have the assets to make communism work. (A good economy, consistent trade, hundreds of workers, and more then one field each worker can go into ie being a soldier, a miner, a scientist, or an engineer)
