  • With the engine bolted in and the drive train connected the next phase of this 1949 Chevy 3100 engine swap is to connect up the custom throttle controls, fuel system, the starting, charging, ignition, lighting and heating circuits. The electrics will also be converted to 12v.

So in essence you like that fuel pump better because the glass bowl looks cooler

It does look cooler but I like it better because it gives additional filtering and you can see that the gas is atleast flowing from the tank to the pump which is good when ttroubleshooting. Thanks for watching.

when i watched you taking off the clutch disc, pressure plate and flywheel while the bell housing was still on I was thinking "what in the hell is he doing? I was not aware that GM ever bolted dust covers behind the flywheel. and then I thought Why?.

Chevy definitely did things different back in the day. Thanks for watching Kevin.

Hey there working on a 1950 Chevrolet truck 3100 5 window has a 216 motor just picked up a 1959 235 motor off of a Chevrolet Apache truck but motor mounts don't look the same did you have to make your own or buy new motor mounts adapter can I get more info this is my first build thanks

Sancho, the 59 235 engine used side motor mounts, the 50 truck used a single front motor mount.
The plate thats behind the timing cover is the key. If the plate on the 59 235 extends down like the plate on the 216 all you have to do is drill two holes the the bottom lip of the plate to bolt the front engine mount on. If the plate doesn't extend down like the 216, you'll need to take the plate off the 216 and swap it on to the 235. Unfortunately you have to remove the harmonic balance, drop the oil pan, remove the timing cover and cam gear inorder to remove the plate.
It's all very doable but may take a little more work.
      Good luck
      Dave

Ok got it this 235 motor has both front under the pulley and side mounts that's what threw me off. One other thing not sure if I can use original 216 radiator but the 235 motor water pump and fan stick out 2 to 3 inches more what would I have to replace I heard or shorter water pumps any advice thanks

@@sanchosanchez76 Yes the 216's radiator will work fine, thats what I'm running in my 49. There are short water pumps available from most on line providers. Some folks remove the pulley and cut the shafts down but I hear it can be a job. Good luck.

Yea but what did you do...to make it happen brother? Did you go with newer water pump or go the other route?

    • @Volfandt

@@sanchosanchez76 The 1953 and 54 235's waterpump's are the same as the 216's and better yet they mount at the same height on the block, so there's no mod's needed to install them into a 47-55.1 AD truck. 55 and later 235's need the waterpumps either modified or swapped with earlier model pumps.
I didn't have to change the 54 pump it was a direct bolt in.
      Good luck

Merlyn, I ran your post through a translator, it appears you're having trouble with the ignition, is this correct?
