The Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) protocol is a routing protocol that is used to determine the shortest path for data to be transmitted between devices on a network. The DISH (Designated Intermediate System to Intermediate System) state is a transitory state in the OSPF protocol that occurs when a router is in the process of becoming a Designated Router (DR) or a Backup Designated Router (BDR).
In OSPF, a DR is a router that is responsible for sending link state advertisements (LSAs) to other routers in the network. The DR is elected by the other routers in the network through a process called the "DR election." The BDR is a router that is responsible for assisting the DR in sending LSAs to other routers in the network.
The DISH state occurs when a router is in the process of becoming a DR or BDR. This typically happens when a new router is introduced to the network and needs to be included in the DR election process. The DISH state allows the router to synchronize its routing information with the DR and BDR before it becomes a fully-functioning member of the network.
Overall, the OSPF protocol is used to help ensure that data is transmitted efficiently and reliably between devices on a network, and the DISH state is an important part of this process.

How many routers we can configure with ospf protocol? Is there any limitations like eigrp and rip.

Hi atul sir, I have one question, why are we using area0 is the backbone area why can't we use are1 Or area2's..etc are the backbone area's please explain.

Without Area 0 you cant make a router ABR router which forward packets from one area to another.
Area 0 is typically used as the backbone area in OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) routing protocol because it allows all other areas to connect to it.
By using Area 0 as the backbone, it provides a central point for the exchange of routing information between different areas.
Other areas (such as Area 1, Area 2, etc.) can be connected to Area 0 through virtual links or area border routers.
Using Area 0 as the backbone simplifies the routing process and reduces the complexity of OSPF configuration.
It also helps in controlling the routing traffic and optimizing the network performance.
While other areas can be used as backbone areas, it is generally recommended to use Area 0 as the backbone for better scalability and stability of the OSPF network.

Can we advertise the loopback ip address by using "Network command"

Yes but it will show you /32 so to fix that you can go to loopback and give command
      ip ospf network point-to-point.
