Sam Healey compares the 1989 and 2014 versions of Mayfair Games' Family Business. Buy great games at www.gamenerdz.com/ Find more reviews and videos at www.dicetower.com
I already have this is my to-buy list, and I'm looking forward to getting it. It's nice to see reprints of older games so that new folks can buy them and the older ones can appreciate a good thing being made available again :D Great job Sam!
Thanks for this video. Family Business was one of my first board games I bought as a teenager many years ago. I am looking forward to getting one of my old favorites back into my collection with some much needed improvements to boot.
I really dig these. I think a regular series delving into similarities and differences between distributor versions/printings/re-implements would be gold. I'd love to see a compare and contrast for Ikusa, Shogun and Samurai Swords. Etc.
Either I'm imagining things or I had an even earlier version of this game where you didn't even get a box just a stack of cards. I liked the cards in that early version (although I now have the new set which is fine).
The only thing I don't like about this game is there is a tendency to pick on certain people to get them out of the game. It's very quick and ruthless so it's not THAT big a deal. But you might find that one person gets knocked out at a time because everyone decides they are the one to lose. If you're that person it might suck.
I'll agree, that they have made some good improvements. Just wished they had gone with a different graphics style. It's almost like they are trying to lessen the fact that the game is about killing people by putting some humorous cartoons on the cards. I would have preferred something a little more realistic maybe. That's just me though, always in the minority😊. Also don't know why they've left out the hitlist card. Seems like it wouldn't have been a big cost to include it.

Excellent job, Sam!
I'm blown away that all the mobsters in the new version are only 5 feet tall.

Excellent review. What game is that on the top shelf in a green satchel? What game is in the container that looks like a bullet?
Memoir 44 and Bang
Nick Welford Thanks.
Umm....2014 version? I've owned the version on the left since 2011
Sam, in your other video you said your old version is worn down. Both versions look kinda new in this video.
