Don Gillis made Candlepin Bowling exciting. He had previous exposure to Candlepin from his home Canadian province, Nova Scotia, before moving to Massachusetts. Too bad Gillis was never inducted into the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame in the Builder category.
Could be due to chemical composition of Candlepin Bowling Pins. Modern Candlepin Pin are made from plastic, not wood. Pin spacing changes also changes the pace.
@HalifaxHercules pins had been plastic since the 60s and plastic had been used for decades prior to the years in question so I'm not sure I understand your response.

The pin action in 93 and 94 was noticeably slower than in other years filmed at Fairway.
