I've absolutely been waiting for something like this! The only way you could 1-up it is SOMEHOW actually making it a 3D display for 3DS games. But even if not, I'm sold.
So 3D was a major request, I contacted over a handful of suppliers and not one single company manufacturer produces anything 3D anymore. That is why you don't see 3D in anything in 2024, heck I've even heard that 4k displays are very minimal. I personally don't see the hype of 4k myself when barely any games run at 4k or movies. Anyways that's why no 3D will be an option.

DS/3DS/WiiU are the top 3 this is great for, I love having this for all 3 emulators but also enjoy just playing my games on the DNA Duo only. Reason being is because the ergonomics of holding your handheld while sitting back and the screen being above rather than below really works perfectly.

Hey pricing on shipping is based on averages from Canada to the USA and other countries. Remember it's $45 CAD too which in usd is about $32. I'm in some cases going to lose money on shipping and in some cases I might stand par on shipping. So many said the shipping is expensive but it's really not. I used to run an eBay shop (for almost a decade) and dealt with that all the time but even on eBay I lost money because of fees sometimes. Imagine if the top part had a holder for a stylus that could work with modern touch screens and wasn't sticky like some of the ones I've used. That would be awesome.

This is insanely cool! Honestly if I had something go haywire at my desktop or simply did a lot of long term traveling, I would totally buy one. DS emulation is cool, though I’d consider that more so a cool gimmick compared to having a convenient second screen to mimic having two monitors, and making that an oled on top of that makes this a no brainer upgrade for anyone with an LCD steam deck

@DNAMobileGaming that's very true, I think for me personally WiiU is the only viable use case (since I have all the consoles except WiiU). It's still a really neat bit of kit and I'm happy it exists.
I switched to OLED because the likelihood of you getting screen burn in is very minimal unless you plan to blast the brightness to 100% all the time and never turn off the display. LCD is nice, and that is what we were using but OLED looks so much better.

Sorry I must've read that wrong, so you mean do I plan to make an adapter that clips onto the rally Mate? If so then that was my first thoughts, as I own the Ally Mate but it was easier to design an adapter that fit each device for now.
There isn't a point to having an all in one dual screen device in my opinion. AyaNeo did this, it didn't grab my attention at all because I already owned an Asus Rog Ally at the time, and the DNA Duo could be attached to it. Meaning why buy another handheld if you already have one, rather just buy an accessory like this 😁
Definitely, I've been playing Oracle of Ages because I only played Seasons back in the day. I've been looking up certain things because some of the puzzles really stump me and having the DNA Duo helps!
Any plans of hosting 3D printer files of user created items so that we can easily find and share designs? For example I have an OLED Steam Deck, but I have mine in a dbrand Killswitch case. It would be nice to have a DNA Duo adapter for this. I think it would help with sales on your end too without you needing to buy every single case for every single device and having to 3d model, print, and test everything. And my other question is does it work in gaming mode or does it need to be in desktop mode for it to work? Is it a Steam Deck limitation or is it on the emulator side?
Yes major plan which was mentioned is to share the step file for the main magnetic adapter piece to be edited down the road. I have ideas for the adapters but wanted to keep them simple for just 4 major consoles (Steam Deck/Rog Ally(X)/Odin 2/RP4 Pro) to start. I had many ask me about the JSAUX cases and Ally Mate by mechanism which brought this idea into play. Dual screen only works in Desktop mode but honestly it takes 2 seconds to switch to desktop mode to enjoy WiiU/3DS/DS Emulation. If you want to use the DNA Duo as your main display in game mode you most definitely could, but I have done vigorous testing with game mode vs desktop mode for emulation and did not see any differences in performance so I always switch to desktop mode for those 3 (WiiU/3DS/DS) consoles.
I whish youtuvers focused in giving the community a message about retro gaming. Developers should focus more in making new games that take advantage of the original hardware and addons of retro consoles than making new consoles to play the same retro games over and over again. We already have the original consoles and improved with ips screens, what we really need are new fresh games for those consoles, and if possible, games that make use of eReader, gba to gamecube cable link, ds rumble pack, new ds games that make use of the gba slot etc
This is very cool man i just use my modded 3ds it can run evrrything ds and gba i read somewhere on a article that Nintendo is gonna put 3ds games on the switch but my personal opinion i dont think it would be good i just feel 3ds games are 100 times better with the 3d enabled let me know your thoughts on this
I never cared much for 3D, when the New 2DS XL released I always wanted it so I sold my New 3DS XL to get one. Emulation is an entirely different scene as well when it comes to gaming. I love the fact that I can use a device I enjoy using for hours to play 3DS/DS scaled at better resolutions that make the games actually look good. I own every 3DS console and hardly touch them anymore because of Emulation. I've also finished more games because of Emulation as well. Those are my thoughts, I could go all day.

I mean, i really want one! But i still have my hacked 3DS which i still regularly use, mostly to emulate RPGs and other retro games. Besides being able to play Wii U games with this what other advantage is there for something like this vs just buying a 50 buck old 3DS? (This is a genuine question! The product looks good, but i need to justify a purchase)
Emulating 3DS/WiiU/DS scaled nicely is why anyone would want this. There a ton of games that look and play amazing on both emulation paired with the DNA Duo. Plus you can play all of these consoles with better controls, I as a 34 year old can't play my New 3DS XL for more than a half hour before I get cramped hands and burning eyes from the terrible graphics. When I was younger it was cool, but now not so much.
@DNAMobileGaming I honestly don't feel the 3DS graphics were that bad (They don't LOOK bad on such a tiny screen LOL). And have you tried those NDS games with CirclePad Hack games? That said, yeah, the hand cramp is far too real, and playing something like Monster Hunter with upscaling and a real second stick really sounds like it could improve the experience immensely! Same with, for example, those Kingdom Hearth games for the NDS which actually were quite good and have never been ported!
If you want to play Dual Screen Emulation whether it's WiiU/3DS/DS you have to use Desktop mode currently because Valve hasn't implemented screen extending through their software yet. I personally don't have an issue with this either, it takes 2 seconds to switch over and performance wise I never noticed any differences in the 3 emulators.
What would the purpose of sharing the step file for the enclosure be exactly? This isn't a simple "buy a screen from AliExpress" and slap it in the enclosure I spent months designing sort of deal. If you want to design something yourself then by all means, but I'm not going to simply just hand over my months of work.

Yes it has usb c charging pass through if you need to charge it. There's a lot more details on the website and in other videos I've shared about the DNA Duo. It works with Android/Windows/Linux perfectly as the Steam Deck is Linux based and all.
So these are all the same screen, just with different colours and clamps available? I can use the "White for Odin 2" for my rog ally as long as I have the rog ally clamp and it would be the same for the "White for Rog Ally", right?

@otg6744 that is a good question and I have actually thought of screen protectors. That is something I plan to actually just include if I can find the right source because I believe any devices with screens should have protectors included no matter what.

@randallbro6749 highly unlikely would Nintendo actually do this, and if they did what would the purpose be? The entire purpose of the DNA Duo is to use it on hardware you actually enjoy using and play games better than the Switch does.
Both Online & Lan play are supported (Even download play) Only thing is the the latency requirements are tight for the laters (meaning tunneling most likely won't work & you will have to run both on the same machine) Online was already in its stable state in 0.9.5. Lan Play & Download Play Netplay is planned. TLDR on the way it would work is running 4 instances & receiving inputs from other players, syncing when necessary.
Hey, so someone else asked this and the only option right now is to order the regular Deck adapter with a white screen. The black on white looks good with my Rog Ally so it will look great with the white Deck!

@JhoTerra hey, all of the DNA Duo displays are OLED I fixed the website as I must've forgot to change the Steam Deck bundle before I left for holidays a few weeks ago. Sorry about that confusion and thanks for letting me know.
Well comparing it to original hardware isn't the same in the emulation scene and you must not know the benefits of this. Also it's not heavy at all or bulky, I spent nearly a year designing and re-redesigning the DNA Duo so it feels natural with the devices connected to it.
The AyaNeo flip DS is nonsense, the only purpose it serves is absolutely none in my opinion that's why you'll never see it on the channel being reviewed. The idea sure is innovative but the entire purpose of the DNA Duo is that you can attach it to a device you actually enjoy using when you want to play DS/3DS/WiiU and more.
Words are made up, so pronouncing it Rogue is how I'll continue to pronounce it. It's like when people pronounce the company Ayn they say "ine" to me it's "ehn" so instead provide actual criticism not hate for no reason.
Gaming mode doesn't work with dual screen, but I don't see the benefit of gaming mode especially with WiiU/3DS/DS Emulation. It does work as the main display though, so if you have an LCD Steam Deck you could use the DNA Duo as your main display since it'll be OLED 😁
why not make a program where you could mount your phone to your steam deck and it would function as a second screen? It would save you from buying a screen just for this.
@greg-hemroid there is a program to attach your Android but it eats your battery for 1, it slows down your PC as well, and isn't accurate at all especially when it comes to touch functions. I shared a video about this a long time ago and that is partially why the DNA Duo became a thing. The DNA Duo barely consumes the battery of your device, it clamshells over the device it's attached to, and is powered via USB C with an extra port for charging pass through.
Okay please share how you would reproduce this with video over USB C, charging pass through, and mini hdmi via OLED? I'd love to know if I wasted the last year studying and researching this to find something easy.
@@DNAMobileGaming Well the hdmi does nothing for me, nor the vast majority of people. A small controller board from aliexpress that supports usbc with display port alt mode and a small oled panel would set me back about $100. Thanks to SBCs we have a lot of 6-7” oled panels to choose from at varying resolutions. I have a 3d printer so the enclosures taken care of. If you had a custom controller board designed, that would be a different story, but if that were the case, your panel assembly wouldn’t need to be so thick. Given the build quality and the clearly 3d printed enclosure, I’d say your product is all off the shelf aliexpress components as well. Am I wrong?
Right now I am working on finalizing the universal adapter for other devices. However I have an idea for the adapters as well which might be better suited which I'll be sharing info about soon. So right now, no the 5 doesn't have a specific adapter yet.

Well it really isn't too expensive as it's not just a 7 inch OLED screen, this is a custom designed screen that attaches to multiple different devices via the custom adapters. Many people have ordered one and must think it's worth it especially in the emulation scene so I'm sorry it seems too much for you as I hope you find what you're looking for.
Nope not at all, I can now enjoy DS/3DS/WiiU and much more on my Steam Deck or any other Handheld PC. DS is just an exciting console for the community to have this option because now it looks 10x better than original hardware, can be played on 2 screens like the original, and can be played with a device that is 10x better.

You're all tripping this ain't worth no 200 for an extra screen for emulating all of 2 consoles, and the screen isn't built as well as the original while probably pulling the same power for next to no reason. Show me where you can find a 7 inch OLED panel, a custom usb c video driver board, an injection mold company, a usb c cable that provides video for $10 PLEASE. I'd love to find your resources because man that's cheap. Injection molding just for the screen enclosure alone is expensive also not sure where you read that this will be 3D printed as the website clearly states this is for prototype phase until it is injected molded, and I mention this in the video. Again please share where you can buy all of this for $10 and maybe I'll hire you to source out the multiple suppliers for me next time.
Sweet then what's the point of commenting "just use an R4 Card"? I'm just stating why this exists for those that most likely already know about other ways they COULD play DS but it's 2024 and the original DS is old news and even though I own every single one of them I prefer emulation.
@ just be r4 can have every game (if you want) on the cartridge and surprisingly a good amount of emulation on original hardware and the emulation makes the screen stretch out and the high resolution makes it look weird
Stretching the game isn't necessary for one, scaling your games makes them looks amazing and that's not coming from just me, emulation allows you to play and load many games just fine as well, plus you can play a ton of different consoles on a device like the Steam Deck where as the R4 card sucks terribly for even emulating simple hardware like GBA/GBC/SNES. I have tons surrounding the R4 card because there is a niche for it, but it's not comparable to those that don't care for original hardware.

No that isn't what I'm saying, I was stating that the version you're seeing is still the LCD model. We have already changed to OLED at no extra cost right now. I've already hired a company that is working on the driver board for the OLED screen as well and the company that is supplying us with the screens are on standby waiting for me to place the order. Sorry you heard all of this wrong, but not anything close to what I said.

Personal Request, for later Obviously I know the logistics your swimming in right now are probably to much as is, but at some point, look into a hard clamshell carrying case for the screen that is done similarly to the steam deck, or satisfy switch cases. Maybe with a strap running around top to bottom that allowed you to strap it to the recessed bottom of the handheld case between the hand grips. I travel a lot for work and usually just throw my SD in my go bag which I'm totally comfortable doing because of the strength of the case. I'd love to be able to quick disconnect this and have a case for it as well that offered the same level of protection for traveling, assuming the current adapter still allows the SD to fit in its original case, I guess that would be important as well. Either way, still getting one, just food for thought, thanks again for the correction, really mistook your meaning for the screen provider sending your the driver boards, I thought you were meaning to start development on an OLED model.
@@DNAMobileGaming I replied to this but for some reason its not showing, I hope you got it, appreciate the clarification again, just a heads up, when you go to the website at least in Chrome I do now see the NOW OLED banner but it starts scrolling down on the picture from a point where its only partially visible to begin with. So if you immediately scroll down to the products like I did....lol...you miss it, and on the item pages if you look at what's included it still says 1920 x 1080 IPS display, just in case may help to clarify for others if you just missed updating those. Also one question, what resolution will the OLED Panel you are using be? still 1920 x 1080? or 1200 x 800 like the SD main Panel.

Have you consider making an adapter for Mechanism/Deckmate? That already has a ton of supported devices and open source design.
Please read the faqs on the website about this, as I have answered a ton of common questions like this on there.

Any plans of hosting 3D printer files of user created items so that we can easily find and share designs? For example I have an OLED Steam Deck, but I have mine in a dbrand Killswitch case. It would be nice to have a DNA Duo adapter for this. I think it would help with sales on your end too without you needing to buy every single case for every single device and having to 3d model, print, and test everything.
And my other question is does it work in gaming mode or does it need to be in desktop mode for it to work? Is it a Steam Deck limitation or is it on the emulator side?
Yes major plan which was mentioned is to share the step file for the main magnetic adapter piece to be edited down the road. I have ideas for the adapters but wanted to keep them simple for just 4 major consoles (Steam Deck/Rog Ally(X)/Odin 2/RP4 Pro) to start. I had many ask me about the JSAUX cases and Ally Mate by mechanism which brought this idea into play.
Dual screen only works in Desktop mode but honestly it takes 2 seconds to switch to desktop mode to enjoy WiiU/3DS/DS Emulation. If you want to use the DNA Duo as your main display in game mode you most definitely could, but I have done vigorous testing with game mode vs desktop mode for emulation and did not see any differences in performance so I always switch to desktop mode for those 3 (WiiU/3DS/DS) consoles.
I whish youtuvers focused in giving the community a message about retro gaming. Developers should focus more in making new games that take advantage of the original hardware and addons of retro consoles than making new consoles to play the same retro games over and over again. We already have the original consoles and improved with ips screens, what we really need are new fresh games for those consoles, and if possible, games that make use of eReader, gba to gamecube cable link, ds rumble pack, new ds games that make use of the gba slot etc
This is very cool man i just use my modded 3ds it can run evrrything ds and gba i read somewhere on a article that Nintendo is gonna put 3ds games on the switch but my personal opinion i dont think it would be good i just feel 3ds games are 100 times better with the 3d enabled let me know your thoughts on this
I never cared much for 3D, when the New 2DS XL released I always wanted it so I sold my New 3DS XL to get one.
Emulation is an entirely different scene as well when it comes to gaming. I love the fact that I can use a device I enjoy using for hours to play 3DS/DS scaled at better resolutions that make the games actually look good. I own every 3DS console and hardly touch them anymore because of Emulation. I've also finished more games because of Emulation as well. Those are my thoughts, I could go all day.

I mean, i really want one! But i still have my hacked 3DS which i still regularly use, mostly to emulate RPGs and other retro games. Besides being able to play Wii U games with this what other advantage is there for something like this vs just buying a 50 buck old 3DS? (This is a genuine question! The product looks good, but i need to justify a purchase)
Emulating 3DS/WiiU/DS scaled nicely is why anyone would want this. There a ton of games that look and play amazing on both emulation paired with the DNA Duo. Plus you can play all of these consoles with better controls, I as a 34 year old can't play my New 3DS XL for more than a half hour before I get cramped hands and burning eyes from the terrible graphics. When I was younger it was cool, but now not so much.
@DNAMobileGaming I honestly don't feel the 3DS graphics were that bad (They don't LOOK bad on such a tiny screen LOL). And have you tried those NDS games with CirclePad Hack games?
That said, yeah, the hand cramp is far too real, and playing something like Monster Hunter with upscaling and a real second stick really sounds like it could improve the experience immensely! Same with, for example, those Kingdom Hearth games for the NDS which actually were quite good and have never been ported!
Would you need to go into Desktop Mode every time to use this or could it work from SteamOS’s Game Mode?
If you want to play Dual Screen Emulation whether it's WiiU/3DS/DS you have to use Desktop mode currently because Valve hasn't implemented screen extending through their software yet. I personally don't have an issue with this either, it takes 2 seconds to switch over and performance wise I never noticed any differences in the 3 emulators.

What would the purpose of sharing the step file for the enclosure be exactly? This isn't a simple "buy a screen from AliExpress" and slap it in the enclosure I spent months designing sort of deal. If you want to design something yourself then by all means, but I'm not going to simply just hand over my months of work.
I imagine this wouldn't be to bad to get working on Linux too

Hey, yes so the screen attaches to all of these adapters. So if you wanted to swap it around to different devices you most definitely could.

@otg6744 that is a good question and I have actually thought of screen protectors. That is something I plan to actually just include if I can find the right source because I believe any devices with screens should have protectors included no matter what.

Both Online & Lan play are supported (Even download play)
Only thing is the the latency requirements are tight for the laters
(meaning tunneling most likely won't work & you will have to run both on the same machine)
Online was already in its stable state in 0.9.5.
Lan Play & Download Play Netplay is planned.
TLDR on the way it would work is running 4 instances & receiving inputs from other players, syncing when necessary.

Hey, so someone else asked this and the only option right now is to order the regular Deck adapter with a white screen. The black on white looks good with my Rog Ally so it will look great with the white Deck!
I checked out the website but am a little confused, the steam deck one is IPS display while the standalone is oled, so is there no way to get a steam deck ready oled one?

I don't know. It's more expensive than the new 3ds and it looks pretty heavy and bulky.
Well comparing it to original hardware isn't the same in the emulation scene and you must not know the benefits of this. Also it's not heavy at all or bulky, I spent nearly a year designing and re-redesigning the DNA Duo so it feels natural with the devices connected to it.

The AyaNeo flip DS is nonsense, the only purpose it serves is absolutely none in my opinion that's why you'll never see it on the channel being reviewed. The idea sure is innovative but the entire purpose of the DNA Duo is that you can attach it to a device you actually enjoy using when you want to play DS/3DS/WiiU and more.

Gaming mode doesn't work with dual screen, but I don't see the benefit of gaming mode especially with WiiU/3DS/DS Emulation. It does work as the main display though, so if you have an LCD Steam Deck you could use the DNA Duo as your main display since it'll be OLED 😁

why not make a program where you could mount your phone to your steam deck and it would function as a second screen? It would save you from buying a screen just for this.
@greg-hemroid there is a program to attach your Android but it eats your battery for 1, it slows down your PC as well, and isn't accurate at all especially when it comes to touch functions. I shared a video about this a long time ago and that is partially why the DNA Duo became a thing. The DNA Duo barely consumes the battery of your device, it clamshells over the device it's attached to, and is powered via USB C with an extra port for charging pass through.

Well the hdmi does nothing for me, nor the vast majority of people.
A small controller board from aliexpress that supports usbc with display port alt mode and a small oled panel would set me back about $100. Thanks to SBCs we have a lot of 6-7” oled panels to choose from at varying resolutions. I have a 3d printer so the enclosures taken care of. If you had a custom controller board designed, that would be a different story, but if that were the case, your panel assembly wouldn’t need to be so thick. Given the build quality and the clearly 3d printed enclosure, I’d say your product is all off the shelf aliexpress components as well. Am I wrong?

Right now I am working on finalizing the universal adapter for other devices. However I have an idea for the adapters as well which might be better suited which I'll be sharing info about soon. So right now, no the 5 doesn't have a specific adapter yet.

Well it really isn't too expensive as it's not just a 7 inch OLED screen, this is a custom designed screen that attaches to multiple different devices via the custom adapters. Many people have ordered one and must think it's worth it especially in the emulation scene so I'm sorry it seems too much for you as I hope you find what you're looking for.

Nope not at all, I can now enjoy DS/3DS/WiiU and much more on my Steam Deck or any other Handheld PC. DS is just an exciting console for the community to have this option because now it looks 10x better than original hardware, can be played on 2 screens like the original, and can be played with a device that is 10x better.
$200 mate? You're all tripping this ain't worth no 200 for an extra screen for emulating all of 2 consoles, and the screen isn't built as well as the original while probably pulling the same power for next to no reason. This is just so extra, cool idea but goddamn this is $10 worth of parts at most. Less than that since the screen enclosure is fuckin 3d printed.
Show me where you can find a 7 inch OLED panel, a custom usb c video driver board, an injection mold company, a usb c cable that provides video for $10 PLEASE. I'd love to find your resources because man that's cheap. Injection molding just for the screen enclosure alone is expensive also not sure where you read that this will be 3D printed as the website clearly states this is for prototype phase until it is injected molded, and I mention this in the video. Again please share where you can buy all of this for $10 and maybe I'll hire you to source out the multiple suppliers for me next time.

Sweet then what's the point of commenting "just use an R4 Card"? I'm just stating why this exists for those that most likely already know about other ways they COULD play DS but it's 2024 and the original DS is old news and even though I own every single one of them I prefer emulation.
@ just be r4 can have every game (if you want) on the cartridge and surprisingly a good amount of emulation on original hardware and the emulation makes the screen stretch out and the high resolution makes it look weird
Stretching the game isn't necessary for one, scaling your games makes them looks amazing and that's not coming from just me, emulation allows you to play and load many games just fine as well, plus you can play a ton of different consoles on a device like the Steam Deck where as the R4 card sucks terribly for even emulating simple hardware like GBA/GBC/SNES. I have tons surrounding the R4 card because there is a niche for it, but it's not comparable to those that don't care for original hardware.

No that isn't what I'm saying, I was stating that the version you're seeing is still the LCD model. We have already changed to OLED at no extra cost right now. I've already hired a company that is working on the driver board for the OLED screen as well and the company that is supplying us with the screens are on standby waiting for me to place the order. Sorry you heard all of this wrong, but not anything close to what I said.

Personal Request, for later Obviously I know the logistics your swimming in right now are probably to much as is, but at some point, look into a hard clamshell carrying case for the screen that is done similarly to the steam deck, or satisfy switch cases. Maybe with a strap running around top to bottom that allowed you to strap it to the recessed bottom of the handheld case between the hand grips. I travel a lot for work and usually just throw my SD in my go bag which I'm totally comfortable doing because of the strength of the case. I'd love to be able to quick disconnect this and have a case for it as well that offered the same level of protection for traveling, assuming the current adapter still allows the SD to fit in its original case, I guess that would be important as well. Either way, still getting one, just food for thought, thanks again for the correction, really mistook your meaning for the screen provider sending your the driver boards, I thought you were meaning to start development on an OLED model.
@@DNAMobileGaming I replied to this but for some reason its not showing, I hope you got it, appreciate the clarification again, just a heads up, when you go to the website at least in Chrome I do now see the NOW OLED banner but it starts scrolling down on the picture from a point where its only partially visible to begin with. So if you immediately scroll down to the products like I did....lol...you miss it, and on the item pages if you look at what's included it still says 1920 x 1080 IPS display, just in case may help to clarify for others if you just missed updating those. Also one question, what resolution will the OLED Panel you are using be? still 1920 x 1080? or 1200 x 800 like the SD main Panel.
