Melissa I rarely have a reason to say that I disagree with something that you say. But at the end when you said that that house didn't have many memories yet. That's the part that I disagree with. Even though you've only lived in it for a short time. You have memories with that house over 2 and 1/2 years now. and everyday had more than one memory. So you already haveThousands of memories! But you're going to make millions more!

I don’t have any children (by choice) and there are times I wish I had some of my nieces closer to me (they are in Oregon and I’m in Ohio) that I could bake and share my Mom’s recipes with. When I made her zucchini bread recipe, which is the best I have ever tasted I only think about my Mom, whom passed away when I was 18.

I’ve been enjoying your videos for about 3.5 years now. I love all of Souza's accomplishments. Today, a grand prize, with tons of admiration, is awarded to Melisa and Nevaeh, by a native 63 year old Greek, who made pans of spanakopita, or/and the triangles (spanakopitakia) hundreds of times. You nailed it! Love to the Souza family from Thessaloniki, Greece. 🥰

I loved my grandmother. She was a nurse. She would take me for sleepovers and she did her best to made me feel special. When she would take me home I would stand on the country road watching her car swiftly disappear over the hill. I wouldn’t leave until my sweet Grandmother was out of site. Now, today, I create the same memories for my four grandbabies. My Grandma instilled in me the gifts of what to give to my grandchildren and now I see the love they have for me. A little tip for putting your horse blankets on. When doing the leg straps, loop them together between the back legs. It will help to keep the straps from rubbing on the inside of your horses' legs and possibly causing a raw spot.

This...THIS... is family at it's best. All working together. Loving each other, teaching, stepping up and in to help when one of it's members is down. This video touched my old Grandma heart in so many ways. I had a smile on my face watching Mother and daughter working side by side cooking an old family recipe. It brought memories flooding back to me from being in the kitchen with my Momma and with both of my Grandmother's. My Grandma Ella's was German and spoke with a thick German accent. She taught me so much about the "old ways" ,as she called it, of cooking traditional German food. My Grandma Bessie, she taught me to cook from what we raised on our family farm. My Momma loved to bake breads, cakes, pies, cookies. Home always smelled like a slice of heaven. I can only imagine what your home smelled like when you were baking ...Yummy! Thank you so much, beautiful family for sharing your amazing life and journey with us. God bless you and keep you all. Sending my love, hugs and prayers from a soon to be Great Grandma 👵 🙏❤ in Kansas

I keep thinking “how can your home get any more beautiful?!” And then wala! It does! Those steps are so unique!
I pray Jeremy’s back gets better soon. Back pain is horrible. Thank goodness for (pardon the spelling if I’m wrong-and please do correct me!) Kimoni’s help-he seems proud to help out. You are teaching your children to be hard working adults.
Melissa-you talking about your Yaya brought me to tears. Families have lost so much with “modernization” anymore. I just lost my 94 yr old Mother in Aug-so that loss is still so very raw. So much family information was lost with her-things I “should have” written down, but didn’t. There is a recipe that I had that was an old recipe; I can’t find it. Hand written by a family member that has been gone many years. Thank you for spending such quality time with your children, instilling heritage and fun and tradition and work ethics.
So happy that the toy drive is doing extremely well, as are the donations. How awesome the blessings will be to the children and families.
I can’t wait to see Jeremy’s face the first time he steps into the hot tub! I imagine that will help his back immensely-I have never been in one-but I know how wonderful a hot shower feels on my back when my sciatica acts up!

It's wonderful that you have this sensibility and awareness of the importance of passing the torch, so to speak. Many people lose out on that very important sense of continuity because their elders did not understand the value. That recipe was a precious "moment" you shared with your daughter. And I know others have said this in the comments..you already have more substantial memories in this house than most people recognize in 20 years of their life experience!

You guys are doing great! My wife and I are building a Timber Frame from lumber I milled myself. This is year 6 of a 5 year plan. Our biggest challenge is that it's 750 miles from our current rental and the area on the Ca. coast we have lived (rented) for 38 years. This is our first property we've ever owned. I'm 66 and my wife is 65. The greatest adventure of our lives. All progress no matter how small is still progress. I bought a sawmill last year so no more lumber shortages or price hikes! I also bought an older Massey Ferguson diesel tractor needed for loading logs onto the sawmill along with driveway maintenance and moving other heavy things. If you dream about something long enough and work towards it, you will eventually realize that you are living the life that you had only dreamed about. Believe in the dream and just keep going.

Love the new steps in the patio area and wow that was awesome cooking for sure. They looked delicious. Glad to see you put jacket blankets on the horses it's going to be pretty cold there and also 15 degrees in Wisconsin. We've been blessed this year with 70 degrees last week which is very very rare this time of year. Now this coming week warm coats, gloves and warm boots for sure. God is Blessing you ALL and special healing prayers to hubby.

Get well soon Jeremy and take it easy so the back has time to heal again. Sure glad your helper stepped up his game and is carrying the load for you so you can heal. That hot tub will feel so good and help with the healing. You all will get the patio done eventually. Sure glad that you built enough counter space for the recipe Melissa and Nevaeh was able to fix up for you and the family, sure looked good. Enjoy the new steps and be careful with the snow and rain blowing on them. They look awesome. Enjoy Thanksgiving in your new home. Congratulations on your charity drive, it will be a blessing to all who receive from it. You all are a blessing to everyone who watches your channel. Fred.

Melissa, you all started making memories the day you left California & moved onto this property. Even though the house wasn't there physically, it WAS in your dreams and in your hearts until it came to fruition. So, there are a bountiful boatload of memories already!
Please make more "Cooking" vlogs attached with these building/family vlogs. Love you guys. God bless you all.🥰🙏💕

From the first videos of you packing up your family and taking an unknown journey to your new reality and all the steps to get their. What great memories you have made and I value seeing some of that in your videos. Stairs look pretty awesome.

Memories are what makes a family, even if no blood is shared. I call those people chosen family. Passing on recipes and memories from ‘back in the day’ is so important and wonderful. You dinner looked soooo good. I could practically smell and taste it. Consider making a cookbook of treasured family favourite recipes to give to family. Some might find it a bit corny but when they use it and taste why that particular recipe was a favourite, well, then they will get the reason why it is such a thoughtful gift.

Jeremy And Melissa, most of what you have done building your home, has been a first for me. Your cladding inside and out, your bedroom furniture, and all the rest of the interior looks so good, and now it is the first time I have seen steps done like that. All very good. Jeremy must be pleased having two master Chefs to cook for him.
Best wishes to all the family from Mike. ❤

So sorry Jeremy that you threw out your back. I hope you recover soon.
Thank you Melissa for all the things you do including video in & editing this wonderful video.
And I agree with the Lady who said you are wrong about not many memories in this new home. You have already created a lot of memories over the last 2 1/2 years while building it with love. And the ones you've made in the short time you've lived I'm your beautiful home. And the million more you will create over the many years yet to come.

What a delight, your Greek spanicopida(?)!! Passing it down and teaching the kiddos! Getting the kids to help in all aspects of the house and prepping for cold, et al! Love y’all sharing that with us! My family isn’t Greek but we had close friends that were (Economidas and Kovelous) and their Yai yai (?) was such a blessing, taught me how to make crescent-shaped wedding cookies and baklava way back in the day! Regardless the ethnicity of the recipes (I’m Irish/English/Scot), the cooking together and teaching moments are just such a delightful way to bring kiddos up and spend quality time!! Wish I had done more when mine were younger, but thankfully I have grands to work with now!!!

Just wanted to pass along a simple exercise for Jeremy to get his back back in shape. I to have back issues and this exercise quickly eases the pain and gets me going quickly. So here is all it is, lay on the floor close to the wall and extend your legs up the wall until buttocks are against the wall. Now slowly walk your feet further up the wall keeping your legs straight, then allow your feet to slide slowly down the wall until buttocks are back on the floor. Hold position for 5 min or if you can up to 10. Do this a couple times daily. I get complete relief after a couple of times. My Dr tells me I have a very messed up back but this exercise has given me relief and postponed having to have surgeries. I'm 78 years young and am not ready to act my age.😊 I just finished assisting in building a large shop and I'm still kicking!! Hope you try this out and get great relief. Good luck!!

My mother (Edna) wanted her grandchildren to call her Gramma....the first one started calling her Yaya at 9 months. We had no clue it was Greek for Grandma until a decade later. Yaya she became and my Dad was Dada. We lived away from them because we were a military family. They still managed to love and SPOIL their grandchildren half a world away. They are both gone now but oh the memories. Now the great grandchildren enjoy hearing those memories

The steps look beautiful, I love the stamped concrete, we have had ours 15 years. We have resorted to adding sand into the sealer, concrete can be slippery when cold or lightly covered in snow and reseal it every two years to keep the concrete protected. I hope Jeremy’s back heals quickly and thanks for the cooking segment, I enjoyed it, thinking of trying it out myself.
