Klugh was an inspiration to me in 1976 and he still is! A kid from inner city Detroit learned to play such sweet jazz and write such great guitar music!! Thank you God for Earl Klugh!!
Stumbled upon Earl at a small club in Ann Arbor MIchigan in 1973. coming from a Rock Blues pentatonic approach. I was floored at his harmonic complexity and flawless technique. It was an unknown universe of which I had never ventured into. He would have been about 20 yrs old. I got a chance to personally thank him 45 yrs latwer when he performed at the Blue Note in Honolulu. Mahalo Earl!
Brilliant, seen you live solo, in England and Poland even had the the privilege of meeting you at a concert in Poland. Can never get enough of your music. All the best Martin 🎼🎶
I was very lucky to be in the front row seats of the Ulster Hall Belfast 2nd March 2013 to watch two of the greatest guitarist's to walk the face of this earth. Oddly enough, you could not meet anyone more pleasant or down to earth than Tommy Emmanuel & Martin Taylor, the word MAGIC comes to mined, although we all this comes from HARD WORK something both these men have never been shy of.
Perfect!!! Love it!! Once travelled all the way from London to Indianapolis to see Earl play! Always been a really huge fan and love his music. Great footage!!!
Thank you Mr. Taylor. Earl Klugh inspired me to play the acoustic guitar. First time I heard Earl Klugh was in 1982 and I saw him three straight years at the same place, The Circle Star in San Carlos, CA.
I truly love these videos Martin, very informative and a joy to watch. I wish you would do a quick version of Danny Boy that you did for a magazine years ago. I managed two bars but I think im ready to tackle all of it now. Keep up the great work, it's inspiring.
for those saying that Martins guitar is too loud, in this youtube video this maybe the case but in the original and whole clip on his website MTGA his part is at a lower level. I think it is simply down to whoever re-encoded the clip for youtube
Been a Klugh fan since the late 70's. Have seen him live many times. He seems to have disappeared over the last 3-4 years. Can't seem to find any information. Anyone know his status?
Listening to Earl's solo on this one, I believe in every note Earl plays (beautiful and tasty note choices)! But, unfortunately, I can't say I'm a master guitarist like George Benson.
@MML622 Ah yes, from 9 mins 20 secs it's Martin's own tune called "Chez Fernand"" which is on the "Spirit Of Django"CD. The name is attached to the cafe that Django Reinhardt frequented.
Hi Martin I'd really like to know how people improvise those kind of voicing. Where should i start really i know a couple of jazz chords but improvising is one of my greatest problems. I need help.
@ GigglingGirI , what we are hearing in the vid, is certainly not what they were hearing while they were playing. This is playback on two channels and whoever did the vid itself just had the electric turned up too loud. Actually quite a bit too loud to my ears also.
+knucklesprayer I left the company but stayed friends with Earl to this day, but in the 80's/90's he took a liking to high-end serious Classics, Ruck, Rubio, Hauser, name it. Had a little 'Salon' in town here for buy, sell trade...So, could be any one of those, but bet it's a costly one haha...FS
I am almost 57 years old and would like to know how much practice (or how long) it takes to master playing guitar at an "OK" level, that is being able to replicate some of the easiest songs. Thanks.
+Merveil Meok I would say practice and how much time you want to put in. But most important, the ear. Practice the ear. Going over the changes, learn at least the basic scales majors, minors, 6th, 7th, 5th, 9th.
Mr Earl Klugh just used ordinary nylon string acoustic guitar with little fret, but he played it in extra ordinary way, but Martin is also my fav guitarist

Thank you God for Earl Klugh!!
Awesome. It's not too often that a Jazz guitar and nylon strung guitar go well together. Simply beautiful.

martin taylor has TECHNIQUE coming out of his TECHNIQUE! not only are his lines fresh and permanently exciting, he executes them like the boss
Lovely to hear you two playing together! And great convo with Earl!
Beautiful duet. Lovely, smashing! Both true masters of their instruments.
facinating negotiation of rythm and tempo going on between them, it kind of never gets resolved which makes it even better
Perfect!!! Love it!! Once travelled all the way from London to Indianapolis to see Earl play! Always been a really huge fan and love his music. Great footage!!!

George Benson said in 1987 that he believes in every note Earl plays, high praise from a another master guitarist.

@@abuyco I understand.
Benson had Klugh play on one of his albums when Klugh was 19 years old!!
How did he get so good and learn so much at such a young age?!?
Just genius!
@@MaguireGuitar true
@@MaguireGuitar don't forget their joint "Collaboration" album (1987) as well as their tour of that - Japan and North Sea videos on YT.
two of my favorites! wow!
They know what to play and where to play it. Excellent.
thats so fantastic ..Martin..and Earl ..great players
Oh lord it's so beautiful
I love the fragile sound of the classic guitar!!
Wonderful
Something about the nylon string and it’s richness, is relaxing : )
Fantastico!!!❤❤❤
Lovely playing, time to pop on the site again I think. Will42
Earl is a zen master on nylon strings... good lord do I love his sound
both guitars are plugged in.They mention it.Earl has a strap pin socket. The balance is not an issue to me.Maybe the softness of the nylon string..
Love this
Gotta love Earl Klugh🎸
Realy, great. Earl Klugh plays in wonderlands.
@MML622

Thank you!!
Nice little conversation between two masters.
This is heaven right here.
unreal. beautiful music.
Fantastic!!!
Great playing by two guitar legends, I wish Earl was louder or that Martin was playing more softly.
Humble masters
Wonderful! I really like it gentlemen.
First saw Klugh at a tiny Club in Seattle-backing George Benson. He was special when he was still a puppy.
Very Nice indeed. Inspiring!
Due grandi della chitarra mondiale ,Gusto , feeling , swing e bei suoni con grande interplay.
You're right Jessica. Martin's a tad too high on the volume for me too...(:-)
LOVE THIS FINE MUSIK.

Wow! just lookng at the opening clip of EK.

'Martin Taylor' has to be the best name ever for a guitar player....
Guys, what song were they jamming to?
Dos genios en acción
"Long Ago and Far Away" by Kern/Gerswin
Bel duetto con grande gusto.
Wow, Earl Klugh looks so young.
I would love Benson to join them. This is the first time I seeing Martin play with a plectrum
Great Playing! Hey Martin..we just met at NAAM a few days ago!
Beautiful People❤❤
Hi Martin I'd really like to know how people improvise those kind of voicing. Where should i start really i know a couple of jazz chords but improvising is one of my greatest problems. I need help.
I should know this but does anyone of you guys know the title to this song? Thanks...
@ GigglingGirI , what we are hearing in the vid, is certainly not what they were hearing while they were playing. This is playback on two channels and whoever did the vid itself just had the electric turned up too loud. Actually quite a bit too loud to my ears also.
soda fountain shuffle i still remember my lost cassette tape copy
Exquisite Video: thank you for this!
Maybe someone know what guitar had Earl?
It might be McGill, one of his favs.
Thank guys! Maybe i'm more interested in the preamp or mic in his guitar sounds so good!
2 respected players among musicians. Peer respect is more valuable than public fMe

At least 3 to 4 years
Do you want to solo a song or just play a few chords? it is totally different
+Jay Lau - For now just a few chords but competently. Thanks for answering my question!
+Merveil Meok That only takes two years
+Merveil Meok I would say practice and how much time you want to put in. But most important, the ear. Practice the ear. Going over the changes, learn at least the basic scales majors, minors, 6th, 7th, 5th, 9th.

CLASS!!!!!!!
wonderfullll....
I read that the legendary and writing guitarist.
very nice good .........
Brilliant and just so tasty.. Make me so very happy .. Thank you fellas.
Do they have an album together? It's great when the masters playing music, they're just playing!
i like klugh´s fingerstyle technique
you can bet on a man named after two of the best guitar makers will love the guitar
I agree with you--they should have backed down the electric guitar about 6dB.
two crazy people = awesomeness
Martin and Earl are Fingerstyle masters
hi guys! someone can tell me pls what kind of amp using Martin here? thanks
earl klugh OWNS his instrument
he has got a really good name for a guitar academy
What's the name of the tune?
Is it "I've never been in love before"?
K. R. G. Yes. “I’ve never been in love before” from the Broadway show Guys and Dolls. What a pairing of great song and great guitarists
❤❤
