Well, I didn’t think I’d sell my triumph speed twin, but this bike is calling my name. It’s just about all I’d want, maybe a quick release fairing so I can cruise around town without it.
I had a 2 Dyna's spent money on them to go better.!! I then rode a mates 2019 Sport Glide in Australia on Holiday for a week, that was it came back to New Zealand and picked up a 2018FXLR with 8000kms on clock, just couldn't ride the Dyna anymore. These Softail frames suspension and motors are the next level in performance, even standard they are great,I am 65 and truly enjoy every moment of my Low rider.
Looks like HD has made a desirable bike. My suggestions (1) offer Boom Box electronic dash add on with all the goodies (2) give me 2-1-2 exhaust and an option for lower & larger touring bags.
Ugh I cannot wait to pick mine up. Im getting it Saturday 😊 I’m upgrading from an Iron 883 and this is the perfect step up for me. My husband wanted me to get the road glide but I figured that was a little too large for me at this time. I always figured the next bike I get is the Low Rider S, then this came out! Figured I could wait another year since I just put more money into my bike to make it comfortable for longer trips, But I’m still getting beat up on the highway and keeping up with my husband on a Street Glide Special is hard lol. This is the perfect in between, I’m 5’2” so I think this would suit me really well. I don’t think I’d need to ever upgrade since any long distances I take, my husbands bigger bags and he has the GPS.
The new sportster is really nice but I still like the older classic ones Evo engine and the low riders well that is a dream bike for us short guy’s lots of power light bike and very maneuverable
That was Gaviota Beach with the train trestle. It used to be a rather unknown beach, where surfers and fishermen could enjoy a day or three without seeing anyone else. Then, the state made it a state beach, and just like that...tourist trap. How'd you like the Gaviota pass, with the massive rocks and tunnel? That area has been used in many movies, and at least one video game!
Get one Jess! I haven’t test ridden one yet but I’m itching too. Still a little bitter that I got a 21 Low Rider S last year and now they have the 117 in them.
You can put a fairing on it from many different manufacturers. And put bags on your bike also and have basically the same bike. I ordered a st 2 weeks ago
The digital gauges on the bars is a improvement for those of us that wear a full face helmet. The gauges on the tank requires you to look down to check speed and tack.
I was super stoked about this bike until I realized the asymetrical bags. I sort of get why it's like that but I'd prefer if they were the same size even if that meant the left side was smaller to match the right side. I also don't under stand why the vast majority of saddlebags/panniers are clamshell designs. Top opening cases are prefered by me.
Due to exhaust location - as you guys already know, there a lots of asymmetric bags for motorcycle in the market. It's matter of personal preference but you can get a same size bag - if you are ok with wider panier rack mount (not recommended in California where you will need to do lane splitting). I am sure there is a way to mount same size bag of your choice.
How does it do around corners? Does it scrape easy? I have never scraped on my Dyna Switchback. I have a fear of scraping, not that I'm afraid to lean or anything. My Dyna has great ground clearance.
Loved this video Jess. Oh and just a reminder about the road warrior faring, there is a vented version windshield that helps with no buffeting. I have one for my Indian and love the non buffeting.
i dont like the bags because of the clamshell thing. i think if they had given it standard bags or even shallower bags with standard lids it would have been an even bigger hit. thats me though. i do think the gage could be a bit bigger too. im near sighted though. good vid
Looking good on that bike, Jess. I've never ridden a Harley... but I'd like to. Other than the forward controls, I really liked the look of the softail slim, which they stopped making.
I'm 5'7" and I have a 28 inch inseam. My buddy got one of the first ones in Colorado, and I've gotten to ride it a couple times. If you're someone who has to be able to flat foot a bike, it might be a bit tall, but I was nearly flat footed, and didn't feel bad on it at all. So if your inseam isn't as challenged as mine, I would say you'd have no problem.
I am strongly having an internal battle. I have a 2021 Road Glide Special. I took a Low Rider ST on a 7 mile ride but dealer would not let me film it since the bike already had a reservation on it. Can I live without navigation and hand control mounted buttons to skip to the next song? I live life with a laptop and the LRST bags wont fit my laptop. Can I live life riding to and from work with a backpack every day for seven months a year? These are the only questions stopping me from shutting down upgrades and waiting for an available LRST... its THAT GOOD!
I gave up my '17 Ultra Limited for my Low Rider ST and am glad I did, would not go back if given the chance. The fun factor is off the charts compared to the Ultra. Light, nimble, throw it into corners, zip around town, back it into parking spots... Absolutely love it, & this is my 13th Harley. I can check when I get home but I would think you could fit a good sized (15.6") laptop in the left side bag... Or just get a 2-up seat / sissy bar (assuming you're going to be wanting that setup for at least an occasional passenger I guess) and strap a motorcycle backpack to it. I have the Harley motorcycle backpack & it fits on my sissy bar / passenger seat perfect, & has a computer compartment that fits a full size laptop no problem. Carrying a laptop would be the least of my concerns about making this move. Wind protection is more of an issue, not much above the shoulders with the stock shield, and the HD high shield is narrow so you get nailed with any crosswind. You're good to go with a full face helmet, of course. I'm sure the aftermarket will get on the windshield problem soon. Excellent wind protection for the body and legs with that faring though, very surprising how well it works. Anyway, I bet a 15" laptop will fit in the left bag, no?? And navigation -- you're a tech person - how can you stand that Harley GPS on your Road Glide? Phone with Google Maps GPS mounted to your bars is a 100% better setup than that low tech built-in Boom Audio GPS, I couldn't stand using that thing on my Ultra, used the phone instead for accurate, up-to-the-minute GPS that routes you around crashes / delays, and road construction. Bar mounted buttons to change volume and skip songs with the new bluetooth sound bar would be nice (but not available), but the key to happiness here with this bike is bar mounting your phone. It's 1000X more powerful than anything Harley could stick on there for us. Get the Harmon Kardon bluetooth sound system, use the phone's GPS, won't miss anything the touring bike had. Update: My 15" laptop fits great in either bag with room to spare, even the right side. Didn't have it in a case but with a normal sized sleeve, there would be no problem. Oh - and GREAT REVIEW, thank you Jess!
@@HerTwoWheels That explains a lot. Nicely done, HD crew. Also, it's weird that I am replying to you while still watching your video and hearing your voice. Modern life...
Great vid. How do you keep that nice hair from a tangled mess lol. I forget one time and regretting. Meaningless comment but miss the red helmet. Cool to venture out on new colors thought. Keep up the great work on letting us know about all these cool motorcycles as well.
been seeing tons of reviews saying its great at highway speeds... especially from those in this group ride. its a great bike, love mine, but reviewing at 60mph is not highway speeds for most of the country... most of the ride shown here is under 60mph ordered the taller windshield today because anything >60mph is bad and I'm average height.
Not really. The R18B is a traditional bagger. Big and heavy (Which I love) But the FXLRST is a Soft tail outfitted with removable bags and a frame fixed fairing. So the front end still feels SUPER light
I had a R18 and sold it in a few months. For me the Low Rider st is hands down a much better bike for me. Ride the R18 on a bad road and it will beat the hell out of you.
#Her Two Wheels GREAT REVIEW. I have test ridden a couple of times the 2020/21 Low Rider S and loved it. Only Harley I consider purchasing forward. Well, I didn’t think I’d sell my triumph speed twin, but this bike is calling my name. It’s just about all I’d want, maybe a quick release fairing so I can cruise around town without it.
It's easy enough to unscrew and remove the windshield and still keep the fairing on the bike. Why not? 😉
All this ride needs is a version of the new TFT screens. At least an option of either, some might want it simple, but I want with Gadgets
No radio or nav? Is it an option? Can you put a storage rack behind the seat, docking station? I like the bike.
