I'm an admitted student and am currently debating between Harvard and Columbia. These videos are so helpful- thank you Caroline! Can you make more videos like this with raw footage of Columbia (vlogs, a physical tour instead of a virtual one, more clips of Columbia events, etc.)?

Yes please Caroline. That would be great. Also John Smiths do let us know which college you commit to. And then tell why you chose that. It would be helpful for me too. Thanks :))

Thanks for the suggestions, John! And wow, I’m so happy for you! 🎉 Best of luck on the decision, and I’m sure you’ll thrive wherever you choose 😊

I also have another request, in fact 2 other requests.
    1) Could you make a video a about why you chose Columbia over the other schools you got into.
    2) And also a video about the pros and cons of living in NYC.
Thanks a lot. Looking forward to more videos!

I have never clicked on a video so fast in my life. I got so excited when this popped up on my feed this morning. Philosophy Hall looks so useful for a writing hopeful like me and I love to run/walk in my free time so the fitness center looks awesome. Wouldn't have known without your video so thank you so much!!!

Hey! I actually recently committed to Columbia as a student athlete. Would you able to do a more in-depth video of the pool/locker rooms, and Dodge Fitness Center? Thank you so much!

Can you talk a little about Barnard's relationship with Columbia? I am most likely going there in the fal and I'm super excited to learn more!

I know this video's geared toward incoming first-years (congrats class of 2025!), but as a rising sophomore who's about to visit campus for the first time in a few weeks, this video was really helpful!

Hi! I was recently admitted to Columbia, and I got a likely later in late March. I wanted to ask a question about housing. I’m looking for a single in either John Jay or Furnald. I don’t know how to choose between the two. I know John Jay is more social than Furnald. I know Furnald has AC while John Jay doesn’t. Personally, I would prefer a more social dorm building that has singles so I get the luxury of privacy when I need it while also having a strong social scene. However, I’m not sure how good the AC is at Furnald, so I don’t know if it’s worth passing up. Some other people have told me that havinf a fan in John Jay is similar to how the AC feels in Furnald. Also, I want to be in the building that would have the best views of campus (low library, the grass, etc), not the street or any wall of a building. I’m drawn to the fact that John Jay is mixed gender on pretty much every floor. Although Furnald has mixed gender floors on floor 1 and 2, I don’t know how the views of campus would be since I don’t desire to be on a single gender floor. Based on my preferences, which dorm building do you suggest I choose? THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I KNOW THIS IS LONG. BTW I LOVE UR VIDS 🤗💙✨

      John Jay for sure

Hi Sharon! 😊 Congrats first of all!! I had a great experience in Furnald and I know a bunch of people who loved John Jay! And also it looks like Josh is suggesting John Jay 😄 I’d say where you live doesn’t have to define your first year (i.e. you’ll have SO many opportunities to make friends outside of your residence hall), but it does make it easier to meet people who live in the same place as you. Furnald AC is really strong so I’d also say it is a much more elevated version of a fan in John Jay (though cannot confirm 100% since I didn’t live the John Jay life) 😊 Furnald is actually co-ed on every floor except Floor 2 (possibly Floor 1 too)! It might be the bathrooms you’re referring to (Floor 1 has a gender-inclusive bathroom, while the other floors have separated men’s and women’s bathrooms). I think you’ll have great views in either hall, if you choose a campus-facing room!! Ultimately your res hall experience is what you make of it, but I hope this helps!! ❤️❤️❤️ Thanks for your support Sharon!! ✨✨

@@CarolineChen Thank you so much for replying! ❤️ knowing that furnald is co ed on most floors really changes my mind. I looked up which floor were coed in furnald, and Columbia’s website said floors 1 and 2 were coed only. Tysm for ur advice!! I still have some thinking to do, but I just have one more question about JJ vs Furnald. In furnald, are most rooms facing campus? In other words, will I be more likely to have a nice view of campus if I put furnald down as my first choice? Bc if that’s the case, the mostly coed floors in furnald, the AC, and the higher likelihood of a nice view of campus will make me put furnald down as first choice. :)

Happy to help, Sharon!! Hmm maybe a little more than half are facing inwards towards campus (since the lounges and bathrooms take up some space on the Broadway-facing side of Furnald). You can find more detailed floor plans here! housing.columbia.edu/furnald

My extracurriculars are being in an volunteer team for 8 years, 2 academic language clubs and being an work done leader [ specific to my high school] for 2 years. Would mean a lot if any of you guys answer this. Thank you
