I don't think what you've just explained can be said in any simpler way, yet it is totally clear. You put together sound, words and visual illustration in a super efficient way. You have a talent for teaching my friend!
I don't play music, I'm not planning on playing music, I'm just here dorking-out trying to understand the building blocks of why certain tunes sound good - this was a great little 101 intro, cheers!
I have watched many videos about the difference between rhythm, harmony, and melody. But only your video helped because you provided examples. Thank you so much!!
Let me know if I got this right: Melody is the progression of sounds/notes Harmony is the layering of sounds (can be several melodies) Rhythm is the timing of sounds (within melodies) All of them need to exist in a context where the sounds relate to each other or it's just noise. So if all the above is correct, I now just need to understand where Noise (the genre) fits into all of this and I'm good.
I've been going through numerous videos searching for explanations since I had a paper due soon, and this just saved my grades, thank you so much. BTW loving that desktop background of gon.
Oh my God you explained that nicely. I trust the hell out of you!! Couldn't really get it with others!! I hear also about melody and Harmony and rhythm with lyrics. How does that apply???
This helps me greatly! I have a school paper I am working on about a live concert and have to describe how these musical elements are utilized in the performance
it was great , i without any background in music could understand it in one go and without any confusion . thanks a lot . also , i think youtube should reward these arguably short and stand alone videos regardless of whether or not they are part of a bigger series or whether the owner has followers or not . a perspective to content recommendation that im seeing less and less in the internet as time goes by .
Very uneducated in musical theory so this may not make sense: When explaining Rhythm, is it correct to say that changing the duration of a note being played alters rhythum (like for instance in the last example, if you cut the second note bar and remove half of it, and leave the other note bars unchanged, does this change the rhythum? Follow up, if you do the above scenerio (and the pre-cut second note bar is a half note), do you need to add another quarter note to keep the same time signature?
I just watched a video by Daniel Barenboim talking about harmony and melody, and harmony and rhythm, and all of a sudden it all makes sense to me. I appreciate your video because you go into a little bit more detail than he does. Tiny, you've done a better job at it than freaking Barenboim and I thank you for it!
I'm currently working on a music assignment where I need to compose a piece with all of these components, and this has helped me a lot! Thanks man, you just saved my grades :) Also, you're great at teaching! Thank you.
Can there be a song without a melody or rhythm? Or is it just a matter of range? Like a elaborate/complex melody and rhythm vs a minimalistic melody and rhythm.

you are totally right! but for the simplicity of the explanation I wanted to show it like this. I might make a part 2 that is a little more detailed and technical
I’ve played guitar for years and until I saw this video I’ve never seen a good, simple explanation of these 3 things, thanks for the video man.
Happy to help!

Thank you. Yeah the piano is the best way to break music theory down in the simplest matter.@@tinytero

I'm sort of in the same boat as you! I always liked the theoretical part better than actually playing it. I'm happy you found this useful :)
Brother: you not only know music...you know how to share it to the world in a language we all understand. Keep it up.
Best 4 mins anyone could ever ask for on YT. Thank you.
I have watched many videos about the difference between rhythm, harmony, and melody. But only your video helped because you provided examples. Thank you so much!!
Glad it helped!!
I don't need to watch anything else about Melody, Harmony and Rhythm after your video, simplistic and illustrative to understand!
As a guitarist and a drummer, this was very helpful! Also I love how you used music from my favorite game! Thanks bro!
Played guitar and in bands for over 10 years. Never knew the difference till now. Good job.

The easiest and most simple explanation I've ever heard, and in less than 5 minutes.
Ah, so nice to see a concept simply explained without an over long, over indulgent intro. Thank you.

If u are changing rhythm at 3:48 ..doesn't that mean melody is changing too? As melody is pitch + rhythm
