As someone else says earlier, the Retrospective 5 is only a bit larger but holds the XT-20 and two/even three lenses. Lots of compartments for the odds and ends. AND has a side pouch for the water bottle-that was the deal-closer for me.
I prefer 4 for street, it's smaller, it has more or less the same interior space without the useless (for me) pocket for the mini pad (I have the pro) , and I needn't the side pouch for water bottle. Said that, two great bags.
Hi Omar. Fuji user here. Not interested in that kind of side bags at all, but I want you to know that I really love your channel. Professional guy with a lot of tips to share, good vibes, positive and happy ... I wish it'll worth for you to keep going on and growing even more your channel. I love my retrospective 10 DSLR bag. I still use it for so many things. This is the exact bag just based for mirrorless. More compact and I really like I may have to look into this. thank you for reviewing.
I picked up the Domke F-5XB a little while back. I love how it looks and how small it is, but definitely not as full featured as this one! Just a waxed canvas back with a couple dividers. Thanks for the great review on what looks like an awesome bag.
Picked one up too from B&H. The Domke F-5XB bag is a real good street walk around. And the wax canvas was recently tested in a down pour during a landscape shoot in Pittsburgh. Highly recommended.
I was lucky enough to stumble across a Retrospective 2 bag and have never regretted buying it at all. Materials are brilliant and these bags will probably outlast any photographer. As a bonus, they LOOK COOL..!
I have the Retrospective 20, the 7 and the 5. With my X-H1 I can use the 5 and the 10-24 on the camera, the 55-200 in one pouch and I have split the other to hold my 35 and 23 f2 lenses. Think Tank is awesome. Thanks for the review!
Ever walk into a conversation that ended 4 years ago and say, "Oooh, banana pockets, nice". Just saw this bag in the store. Looks like it may work for my X-5 and lens for a nice travel bag.
The Tenba Switch 7 is exactly like this, but a bit more stylish, the flaps are magnetic and it has two zippered areas, I carry on it my XT3, 18/55 kit lens and a 55/200, the battery charger, and both lens hoods, love it.
Been a Domke FB since '83' (I still have my original bag and use it on an occasion) when Domke bags were a "must" for all photojournalists at the time (after all, Philadelphia Inquirer shooter Jim Domke created the bag in '75'). I did give Think Tank a serious look-see a few years back, I thought they were a bit pricey for what you get, and little to "camera baggy" in the looks dept for my tastes. That said, their larger gear 'roller bags' are impressive and if I were to get back into or any arena of shooting requiring a lot flying and traversing through airports, Think Tank would be my 'go-to' bag.
If you still want the flaps to close securely, but not have the Velcro noise, earth magnets work really well. You have to have some sewing skills, but it’s a pretty easy modification.
Think Tank Retro 5 has been with me all over the U.S., Mexico, Italy, Jamaica, places I probably can’t remember. Love it. It’s been doused in salt water, sweat all over (why didn’t anyone tell me how hot summer in Italy is??) .. I used to carry X-T2 w/ lens on it plus another lens or two. Now it carries my Z6ii with the Z 24-70 f4 and X100V. Great product!! .. also guilty of way too many bags. The TT Mirrorless Mover 10 is a great little bag also. I also bought the TT Mover bag that fits just the X100 series.. I have a problem.
That has been my fave mirrorless bag for years as well. Cant wait to see this new one. Love your "Flossy" pluck em file em to the side. 2:15 had me in 😂
It looks like a good bag, but I have to say once you get the peak design 5l sling, you won't come back. A little expensive, but man... Gorgeous and practical!
Ok I know this question is unrelated to video, I am trekking Mt. Kilimanjaro in February, I currently own a Fuji xt-30....I am taking it with, and my GoPro hero 7, size and weight is an issue. Question is, do I just take kit lens , my 10-24 or one or two primes.... I own 16mm 2.8, 23mm, 35mm and 50mm. What is your suggestion. Camera will be used for photography only, GoPro for video on this trip. I’d appreciate your input and thoughts based on your experience....again I have to travel as light as possible. Thanks , Joey
Ya know.... I cannot find the button to reply. I can only find other people's replies for me to reply. You are selling out and put a focus on a bag???? Did you get paid money to do the bag review? I watch & look forward to your posts because you portray honest real life moments.
The Retrospective line looks like the old Domke bags got dressed up to go downtown. Very cool. I own, use, and love several of the TTP bags and cases as well as two of the Mindspring backpacks, which are fantastic (well thought out and extremely well constructed). The new Backlight Elite 45 is the best camera/hiking/camping bag I have seen. Thanks for the fun look at the R 4 bag. I am new to the Fuji ASPC line and have been going over all of your related videos.
I like the Retrospective bags, next to my Domke F2 they are the most useful of any bag. Question though, how do you take a picture with the camera tucked away in a gadget bag?
I have bought the retrospective 20 v2 bag and am using it for my event photography. I wish there is a belt loop in the rear so I can use a belt to share some of the weight. One camera, two to three lenses, a Godox flash, plus other stuff in the bag really get heavy on one shoulder after an hour or two of shooting.
OOOOOOHHHH!! Now this bag looks interesting! Looks like something I could look into to carry around a small Fuji kit. My Retrospective 6 that I used for a 6DII and some lenses is now feeling a bit big.
Here, like with the ThinkTank Sling, you review the bag as you would not use it, even putting your camera in upside down. The large flap would be in the way if you wore it, opposed to this table demo.
Dude, you crack me up... I was laughing so many times during this video! But fantastic review, I think you sold me on the Retrospective 4 v2.0. P.S. Don't think I didn't see that beautiful Steinhart Ocean Titanium 500 ;)
Velcro is a big no no as it is not discreet and it will eventually result in premature bag wear. I owned one of the older versions of these but found ONA bags to be more stylish. When I stopped using sling bags my wife took over the ONA leather bag and still uses it to this day, great quality. These days I only use F-Stop backpacks, also keen on Peak Design but I would wait for a new version of their everyday backpack.
I love my slate blue Retrospective 5 and Retrospective laptop bag (which is my main bag unless I'm taking a backpack - and happily fits the X-T2, lenses, everything despite not being a camera bag). The raincover is super-handy. I also have a Retrospective 30 which I had to get (very expensively) from Korea because there were none anywhere else in the world - but I rarely use it, I just keep my massive SLR + zoom in there.) Tell them to bring back "Slate Blue" :)
@@ogonzilla that's just a few of them. I also have a few of the mirrorless mover series or whatever they're called. Then way more big lowepro backpacks than I probably should. I wonder if there is a support group I could join or something like that?
Great presentation as always, and I love everything about that bag, down to the color. You have a good point in that it's not as obviously a camera bag as say, the little Tenba bag I use . Also love the covers for the Velcro tabs for the big flap.
I’m surprised they didn’t go magnet + Velcro like their Mirrorless Mover bags - that would give the user the option. That said, nothing to stop the user from spending $10 on Amazon and buying sew-on magnets.
Not so keen on this new one. I have the old retrospective 5 for my xt30 and its excellent. I have space to carry a book, extra layer for the evening, camera batteries, battery bank, water etc.
Love my Retro 20 (the original version). It looks like it came from an army navy store and more so after "personalizing" it. It does get a bit heavy though. Wish they made a backpack version when they get that big.
Am I still cool rocking the Retrospective 7 2.0?!!! I mean, I love the bag as it fits my laptop and camera with two extra lenses and stuff...but coolness? Still there?!!! I gotta know Omar!
