Kia ora Andy, once the pāua has been removed with a metal instrument, the chances are that the will bleed to death. That’s why Fisheries hand out plastic pāua tools. Perhaps you weren’t aware? PS love your adventures
Thanks for your concerns, and yes i am well aware that paua will bleed to death when cut. I can assure you my paua knife isn't sharp and is made rounded with a blunt bevel to avoid damage to Paua. These were issued at the National spearfishing competition for attendees and were passed by MPI
