- American Eagle at Six Flags Great America is an absolutely massive dueling wooden coaster manufactured by Intamin. The ride has gotten mixed reviews over the past few years, with some people praising the ride as a fun classic, and others calling for the RMC treatment. Today I will take a look at what could be possible if American Eagle's structure was used to its fullest potential as an RMC conversion.

I think the coaster would cost anywhere from 15 mil - 25 mil, if we use Zadra’s cost to estimate the price ( which was a ground up coaster, and all parts were shipped oversea ) then yes it is very expensive for six flags, however if we use iron gwazi numbers which was a conversion then it cost 15 mil. So yes while it is still a lot, on the lower end it’s the same cost as maxx force, although that price probably wouldn’t work at this moment due to wood being more expensive atm

Two options to consider. 1) massive zero g stall just before the old helix, 2) dual launching...GrAm would have 3 launching coasters and put this on par or better than Lighting Rod/SV/IG....
a stall would feel too much like goliath
Regarding the launch... Lightning Rod's main cause of downtime was it's launch. So, that means launch out of the question
Imma go out on a limb and say that this looks like it *could* be the world’s best roller coaster if it opened, but I also just love RMC hybrids. Not to mention the massive outer-banked turn on the blue side looks like such a killer element.
I would ride this in a heart beat, a really nice showing of what could be for our Fair American Eagle.
Just kinda throwing this out into the void but I think a fun idea could be to see what some of the smaller RMCs would look like as Steel Vengeance/Zadra/Iron Gwazi-like Hyper Hybrids.

What if Wicked Cyclone were 200 feet tall? Well, probably it would just be Steel Vengeance.
I’d like to see a big Twisted Cyclone. That was the first roller coaster I ever went on ☺️
Incredible layout. The idea of American Eagle being RMC’d is a very touchy one for me. American Eagle is my zero coaster, so I would prefer to see American Eagle run for as long as it can (hopefully until 50), have a very nice last ride event, then replace it with a Giga. In a perfect world, I would love to see the Gravity Group give it new trains, retrack it with their new precut track, and fix up the structure so it can duel again. But Six Flags will probably never do that.
SF will probably demolish American eagle and replace it with a Vekoma slc

unfortunately great america probably wont see a giga coaster because the village of gurnee says that they cant build anything taller than giant drop (227 feet) but i would love to see one
This is just awesome, I've thought for a while now that Six Flags needs to just bite the bullet and drop an RMC American Eagle for one of their flagship locations. This concept is really great. Although the issue I have with Mobius-Loops is that the whole ride has to be shut down if there's an issue anywhere. Two separate tracks still often allows for one of them to operate if there's an issue with the other...

This is awesome, I like how you explained it at the beginning, it sounds kinda like how Iron Gwazi was made, but with them keeping the dualing. Great layout!
i really enjoyed the layout! i think you did a great job! however i feel like it could use more duelling elements that get the trains closer still, personally, the first two elements right after the drop don't seem like they have the trains coming too close together as the side that doesn't invert seems to stay low to the ground, and after that it seems like the duelling elements are sparse, but that's just me though, aside from this nitpick on the duelling aspect, i think this is a really fun layout, and you did an excellent job :)
If RMC were to work on Eagle, they wouldn't be able to do much with the helix because the city of Gurnee won't let SFGAm do any major construction to the helix because it is too close to the highway. Amazing concept!!

city leadership constantly changes, so this isn't something that couldn't be changed. It's a pretty dumb rule.
If that is a law keeping the helix would actually be fine for me, allows for more interaction, more historic and iconic value, and draws the ride time out more.
I picture American eagle turning out similar to Hakugei at Nagashima Spa Land. Could end up being the star attraction at Great America if RMC would tackle this!
This is one of the craziest coasters I have seen you make. The pacing reminds me of your coaster Chiller. This would be Twisted Colossus on steroids, and possibly the best RMC. Good Job!

Love it .. however I would do two circuits with another pass around the helix. What makes Twisted Col work is that each pass is not that long. Making it two unique layouts each having its own elements, makes for two rides that people would wait again for. When you ride Eagle now, you ride one side and youre done. .. Increase the height to 150 for 170 foot first drop, ... While you have the RMC crew onsite, add 1100 feet to Goliath.. LOL .. take out the picnic area behind it and do some outer banks and two barrel rolls... Well done!

I was there a month ago but Eagle was closed all day except at the beginning when one side was running. A handful of my group rode it but I missed the brief chance.
Can You Please Do If Blue Streak Was An RMC? Or If Gemini Was An RMC? Because American Eagle Is Very Few Of The Coasters That I’ve Gone On That You’ve Done An RMC Treatment On. And It’s Cool Seeing How It Would Change! Because I’ve Blue Streak And Gemini, And They’re Good Rides!

SF Great adventure needs a RMC. I know people are going to say we have el toro but why can’t we have a RMC hybrid & El Toro together in 1 park??? I mean SFGA is about to have its big anniversary. I watched someone else’s video that RMC’s hybrid coasters are pretty affordable compared to other coaster companies.

Hardly any interaction between the trains, so why make them duel? Looks like a single circuit RMC with 2 lift hills, to be honest.

I like the concept, and I think you made cool design choices. That being said, I think you went a little too heavy on inversions. Steel Vengeance is almost 6000 ft and that has only 4 inversions. I think that a massive dueling wave turn at the beginning would be one of the coolest experiences on any coaster. Could you do Grizzly at CGA next? I hate that ride.
Grizzly is on my list, look forward to RMC-ing it soon!

The double helix and the the drop out of it is my favorite part of this ride. The main drop isn’t even as good as vipers in my opinion. But American eagle is old so people have sentimental feelings for it.
Its 2024 and Viper back seat is still one of my favorite things in the park.

That one is a topper with a steel arch lift, and a twister layout. This is an I beam with a wooden lift & out & back racing/dueling style. They wouldn't have a problem selling it as something new.

This is a tough one this coaster would be world class and suite SFGAM well as they need a top 10 coaster but American Eagle is already a good coaster and SFGA already has a big RMC.
honestly American Eagle and SFGAm as a whole could really use an RMC Ibox conversion. Goliath is amazing and one heck of a ride, but AE being so iconic and in its racing nature could really gather big hype. I am sure the elitists that want 100 year old money pit coasters to stay alive forever, but its time for a change and its not like they have room for a full on new coaster.

I think 4 inversions on both sides are a bit too much and it is a little repetitiv. Maybe add one or two overbanks or wave turns just to spice it up

Post Dr. Diabolical's, I no longer think something like this would be absolutely impossible for Six Flags. In the near-term? No. But eventually, this coaster will have to be addressed and I don't see Six Flags yielding that plot of land across the service road by building something ground up.

I don’t think Zadra is a good coaster to use for cost. I would use Steel Vengeance, Twisted Colossus, or Iron Gwazi. Mostly because American based pricing is more accurate
