    Suggestion for the videos....think of why we are here. I found this channel by searching boat refit. Why would I care about your lunch. It's a refit channel..... hopefully a sailing channel too. Leave the food to food channels. Or do food and leave the refit to refit channels otherwise you dilute your efforts. just finished binge watching from the beginning and love the boat. Shaping up nicely.

    • @livingwiththemaias
      @livingwiththemaias  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Joseph , thanks for finding the channel and enjoying it as you have and possibly even learning ... for free . not only do we make these videos to share with other but also to keep as reminders to the times we had during this project . We are not a boat building channel, i think there are many boat builders out there that can have that title. This is our channel and simply put we enjoy sharing our adventures how we feel they should be shared and not how others feel it should be shared. Kind Regards SLA

    Good move maranizing the Izssu , great engines. Smart to use parts from the old Volvo too.
    The leg drives are unfortunately not very good for manovering but your not going to spend. A lot of time in marinas .
    Years ago you could but maranizing kits for car engines, we had a boat that came with an Austin 7 engine it ! Cheers Warren

      Sailing Lady Africa , yeh that would be very expensive , two 15hp outboards might be an option eventually. Somebody motored the entire USA loop in a PDQ with outboards! You will be fine. Exciting to see your hard work coming together. Cheers Warren

      he did not have much of choice since it's regulation (the country for the type of boat he has require the bottom to be painted that color)...

    • @livingwiththemaias
      @livingwiththemaias  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's regulations here in South Africa.. It's this or carry a huge orange blanket so we opted to paint it instead ☺

      I caught that part, MUCH less Nonsense to paint to bottom. No Worries when you already HAVE more than you can Handle, Instant, Automatic Deployment of the Orange, you do NOTHING. I LIKE Quick and EASY. @@livingwiththemaias

    great work so far , engine looks great and your right about the Isuzu engine , bullet proof, A tip I always used when working out the final position of engine mounts is too have them loose when running the engine and they will settle in nicely and then tighten , cheers.

      I would most definitely NOT follow the recommendation from Patrick (sorry mate). Carry out your alignment while on the hard and get it near as you can but do not sweat it. Once afloat for a few days carry out alignment checks and achieve the very best alignment you can. Recheck after 6 months/500 hours.

    • @patrickcoleman3
      @patrickcoleman3 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Worked fine for me many times idling the engine with loose mounting bolts ensures the correct alignment as the engine easily finds its most comfortable spot to minimise misalignment wear.

    • @patrickcoleman3
      @patrickcoleman3 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@normanboyes4983 Retired fitter and turner , and by engineer do you mean a hands on engineer or someone that deals with theory only, no for many years i was involved with heavy vehicle maintenance in the earth moving industry. this method i described works quite well in the installation for small to medium engines in confined spaces and can be done in a boat car or light truck with the correct amount of adjustment allowed for on the engine mounts. Its just a easy way to do things if one is in a hurry or have a lack of precision equipment
