Yes, the Yamato was the most powerful battleship ever designed but due to Japan's critical lack of the necessary materials late in World War II she was incapable of fighting her peak, and due to her massive size she was an easy target for the American torpedo bombers that finally sank her.
@@thecatwithatophat4069 There was also a shift in military doctrine which really doomed her. The previous doctrine was that size was the predetermining factor - make something big enough and it would be invincible. At the beginning of the war you see a lot of battleships, but diversification into smaller pieces with effective firepower (essentially "glass cannons"), such as the aforementioned torpedo bombers, submarines, and other such smaller units with less defensive focus but a lot of punch, ended up being the military doctrine which won WWII.
Its not that glass cannons are superior. Its that no realistic amount of armor can feasibly protect you from the capabilities of modern ordnance. If it can't protect you then the armor is useless, so might as well not have it at all. The submarine is overrated as a warship killer. Their primary use was in commerce raiding. Japan only suffered so much capital ship losses to submarine because of crappy ASW doctrine and training. The battleship became obsolete due to advancement in air power. The carrier needs no armor when nothing except for another carrier could ever reach it.
She was a super battleship. Armoured with the worlds largest gun caliber ever mounted on a warship. Her fate was rather tragic, but honourable. @@dcb99filmz you are both correct. Yes the Yamato is based heavily on the sunken WW2 ship Yamato but she can also roll over and enter submarine combat mode for undersea operations, or something like that.

Beautiful. I grew up with SBY.

A mi también me gustaría comprarlas
Thank you! Such a great battle hymn, even if it was for anime!
Wow!!
I wanted to stand there and listen... lol
Dreamer X, you do know that the Yamato in SBY is based upon the historical Yamato, a real world battleship?
The mighty super battleship Yamato. She had a sister named Musashi, and a carrier Shinano.

Actually, the Yamato in SBY is the same Yamato as the WWII. Apparently after the oceans dried up the turned the wreck into a space ship

why does this fit so well? oh wait. The Yamato looks like a submarine.
The Yamato was originally a war ship from WWII that was sunk by the Americans.
